Concerns with using Bilt to pay rent with Amex?

First and foremost I don't care about Bilt points or Bilt cash or any Bilt cards. I have no interest in that ecosystem as for my use case it is not worth it. I'm talking purely about using Bilt as a platform purely to be able to use Amex where it otherwise would not be accepted such as for rent. This would make it much quicker and easier to hit MSR (minimum spend requirement) for SUBs (Sign Up Bonuses). Otherwise it wouldn't be worth it due to the 3% fee of course.

I've seen a lot of negative feedback about platforms like these. From delayed payment from them meaning you used your card with them to pay someone else and it took them a long time to process the payment so your payment to the final recipient was late. Not to mention it being kind of off again on again whether or not they even work for this purpose consistently. Also lack of customer service if anything goes wrong. Not to mention giving up your data to be sold and potentially increased risk of fraud. With Bilt there's also the ethical concern because they partner with RealPage and I'm a strong proponent of affordable housing.

However I've also seen a lot of people say they've done it for years and it worked fine. I'm interested in everyone's thoughts on this and confirmation they work well with Amex to hit MSR for SUBs. Amex doesn't care right? It's rent and obviously not manufactured spend or anything.

Which AmEx should I get to finish my wallet?

I'm not someone who churns, credit cycles or manufactured spends. I don't have the bandwith to keep up with changing bonus categories every 3 months etc. I have no debt of any kind. The choice is only between AmEx options I'm not interested in any other cards available for the mentioned reasons.

My bank card is Visa (This is rarely used of course).

I have a Citi Double Cash (This is Mastercard and usually my go to card for 2% cash back vs 1% for my other). This started out as a secured card. I plan on keeping this forever as it's no annual fee cash back and helps average account length.

I have a Discover It Cash Back (This is Discover and is used less often but is still solid 1%). This started out as a secured card. I plan on keeping this forever as it's no annual fee cash back and helps average account length. I'm worried customer service will get worse with the Capital One acquisition.

I understand it's often recommended to also have a AmEx if for nothing else than some of the bonuses and perks and great customer service. This would also finish out having all 4 card providers available. Given that my other cards are effectively just 1-2% cash back it would also probably be useful to get something that gives points.

I figure the options for my lifestyle are one of the following 3:

Blue Cash Everyday Card - this would be basically the same as my current no annual fee cash back cards but with non rotating categories which I see as a plus for me. Still just cash back no rewards etc.

Blue Cash Preferred Card - this is kind of a middle ground between the BCE and the Gold. It has a $95 annual fee with mostly negligible benefits over the BCE for me in my opinion. Still just cash back no rewards etc.

American Express Gold Card - this is what I'm leaning towards. Obviously the $325 annual fee is a lot to ask considering other options. However I would use all $120 Uber credit as I use it often. I would also probably be able to use some of the $120 dining credit as I do eat at some of the available places and some of the $100 Resy credit as I live in a city with some options for that. I think it's roughly at least on par with being the same annual fee as the BCP after factoring in the credits. It would be beneficial over my current cards for groceries and stuff. It would also be something good to use for just everyday spend without having to choose between many cards like some here do. Having extra points towards restaurants and travel is also nice now that I'm in a long term relationship which I wasn't when I got the other two cards.

If I decide it's not worth it in the future I could always product change and downgrade the Gold to BCP or BCE right?

What do you all think? I've read a bunch of posts and I know the Gold gets a lot of criticism for a high AF but most people seem to think it's still worth it for the right demographic and I feel like I may be that?

Can I require LUKS to use both the passphrase and Yubikey?

I've been using LUKS for a while and would like to add an additional layer of security of a hardware security key (Yubikey). Currently on boot I enter the LUKS passphrase then it decrypts and brings up the regular user login and I enter that password and it loads into the the OS. I would like the functionality to be on boot both the LUKS passphrase and Yubikey are required to decrypt then it brings up the regular user login and I enter that password and it loads into the OS.

The guides and documentation I've seen seem to be based around using the Yubikey as an alternative to the LUKS passphrase which is not what I want to do. I want to increase the layers and security not decrease it. I do have multiple Yubikeys to add as backup so that's not a concern. I'm assuming there has to be a way to do this but it's been difficult to find information on it. With KeePassXC I can have it require all of database file/key file/password/Yubikey and I would like a similar level of security for my entire linux install (usually Debian or Linux Mint).

Is there a way to setup the functionality I'm looking for? If so please either point me in the direction of a guide or documentation on setting this up or let me know how to.

Should I wait until further in transition to get tattoos? (BA/Laser)

Hi, I'm a trans woman and would like to get some tattoos eventually. Mostly in places covered by most clothes.

I may get breast augmentation at some point in the future in which case I assume the primary one I want to get (a floral tattoo under my chest) would not match the chest size anymore?

I also have not had full body laser hair removal done yet and I know that can't be done in areas with tattoos. Is it possible for hair to grow through tattoo areas?

FYI If you created an account but never logged in you can use that account to have an "old" iron. Iron mode released 13 October 2014 here is one of mine with 15 year veteran cape.

The world if area loot window stayed open permanently.

Seriously why is this still an issue? It's not overpowered or going to cause any issues it's literally just quality of life. There's no reason why the area loot window can't be made as a permanent window like any other and allowed to stay open forever regardless of any items on the ground.

ELI5 Why do people say billionaire's wealth grows faster than it can be spent or donated?

I never understood this. I understand it's not like it's all cash in the bank. But they could absolutely liquidate their assets then spend or donate it all at once. Stocks they own would obviously go down and not sell for what they currently are.

Let's say someone is worth $10 billion and is actually motivated to donate it all like they have terminal cancer or something. They can liquidate their assets then donate the $5 billion or whatever they get immediately with one single donation. No one says their donations have to be drawn out over many years for publicity and so their wealth doesn't actually decrease. Heck you could probably put it all in a trust or foundation or some other financial vehicle where it can no longer be accessed regularly and only the interest or profit is donated automatically or something.

There should be an annual DG speedrun event either at Runefest or in game.

It may not be the most popular thing for others to do but I think some would enjoy seeing others do it. It could almost be like a mini esport like event. Rewards could be IRL trophies, in game titles, membership etc and of course being immortalized in the history of the game the same way clan event winners were.

FYI there are many ways to enjoy RS.

A lot of comments are very elitist or single minded. Believing that you have to be an iron for the game to be worth playing or that the only thing worth doing is high end PVM.

You need to understand that Runescape is a sandbox game with tens of thousands of hours of content. There are countless goals both in the game and self created that people enjoy. Most people have things they prefer over other parts of the game.

I'm tired of seeing comments like someone telling someone to make an iron rather than playing their existing regular account with well established progress and bank.
There is more to the game than grinding for gear upgrades, for many the game doesn't even start until you have the best gear for what you're doing whether that be PVM or skilling.

Even if you had a 100B bank to be able to buy the best stuff there's still the fact of actually using the gear and supplies.

Quests, Completionist, Trim Comp, Clue titles, 120's/200m's, Insane Final Boss, Gold Reaper, Ultimate Slayer, Master Of All, high enrage challenges, grandmaster etc. I swear half the player base has no imagination and can't understand a sandbox game where you set your own goals.

Personally I've played for a long time and have over 10,000 hours in game. I often play 2-3 accounts not just one. None of those are irons because the play style isn't for me, I still have fun.

There's no reason for the division between irons and regular accounts. Especially considering MTX is basically gone and irons can do most things with regular accounts now.

I'm really glad they made the Kinship upgrades reasonably costed now.

Before it was way too expensive in tokens to upgrade for what you got. Now it's reasonable and I was able to even max the lesser beneficial stuff without worrying too much about wasting my tokens.

PSA most "Med Spa" services are dangerous and or scams.

A lot of treatments can be appealing. Personally I have gotten laser hair removal that was necessary for my comfort and safety as a trans woman. However even that can have complications and risk injury if you don't go with reputable companies that actually have standards and training. You don't want to risk your body and health going for the cheapest options. The primary reason for this post isn't laser hair removal though, there are well known companies people know about for that and it's a known service with proven results on average for most people who do it.

This post is about the much more risky and less proven procedures these places offer. One example is Botox. Even when done by a medical professional it has risks, let alone when done by someone untrained in a popup shop with no real reputation or company backing that would actually lose something if they mess up. You can't get blood from a stone and there has been instances of these places injuring people and then just closing shop and leaving with you not being able to get anything even in court.

This goes for any kind of injections a place may do, botox, fish sperm (this is a real thing people are doing), "vampire facials" (this is a real thing people are doing getting blood injected). As you may expect people have had bad experiences with all of these up to and including getting HIV from it.

Please actually research any treatment of any kind you want done even if it seems harmless or effective. Just because you hear about something on TV or social media (especially TikTok) does not mean it's safe or helpful.

A lot of the other options these places have are scams but these are too numerous to list individually. I'll leave you with a great Last Week Tonight with John Oliver episode to watch about Med Spa's and how seriously dangerous they can be to unknowing people seeking treatments.
