▲ 5 r/AFIB

My afib event last Thursday.

I was home watching tv and I went to get up from the couch and get some water. When I went into afib. I thought ok, no biggie, it should go away any sec.

Up until then I would have these short bursts all my life where my heart did this that never lasted more than a few secs.

Only this wasn't going away. So after 5 mins of this I panicked and drove myself to e.r. which is literally a block away.

I was there for 2hrs where they gave me meds and got my heart rate down. But it was still irregular when I left.

It took about a day for me to get back to feeling normal. What I want to know is. Could food have caused this?

That night I had perogies with turkey sausage and onions. Washed it down with a 20oz of cherry pepsi and then ate 4 pumpkin spice cupcakes.

I'm thinking. Maybe that set it off? I'm also not in the best of shape. But since this episode. It's scared me straight and I'm now gonna eat much better and never have caffeine again.

I'm a alcohol free smoke free 52yr old 6ft 270lb male. That is now on a diet and plan to lose around 100lbs.

I also have a mitral valve prolapse since 16. So I been on antenolol 25mg since then. The doctor there at e.r. changed my prescription to metoprolol tartrate. Which I have already gone back to atenolol cause the metoprolol was giving me hypnick jerk. A condition in which your body jolts you awake the moment you fall asleep.

According to the research I did. Metoprolol can do this.

Now what I want to know is. Am I prone to getting this again? Could this have been a one time thing? Granted I no longer have the same eating habits of course and begin to lose weight and sick to a diet.

And if this is something that will now stick. What are some triggers that I can avoid to make sure it won't happen again?

Thanks for reading and replying.

When I have trouble sleeping I pretend this scenario and fall right to sleep.

I moved back in my parents when I was 20 after a failed relationship. I lived there till I was 22. During that time. I felt so secure knowing they took me back and I had my own room in the basement. I could hear the tv upstairs along with their footsteps from time to time.

When I can't fall asleep? I pretend I'm back in that basement and my parents are home watching tv with the dogs.

Both of my parents are now deceased. Dad in 21 and mom last year. It's been many years since then. I live alone and have been having issues sleeping due to life in general that I don't want to get into.

I'm in my 50s now. And to think that going back to that time way back then and in that basement brings me so much peace and security compared to today.

Before using this method I would just drink alcohol. But I quit that nonsense 3 years ago now.

I'm so starved for physical contact, that I been thinking of the woman at work that touched my arm gently last week.

Pretty pathetic I know. But I'm in my early 50s and haven't had any relations in over 13 yrs or even had the touch of a woman in that time as well.

And no, I'm not asking her out. She's way too young for me, in her early 30s, and taken.

She is flirtatious though.

Wonder if anyone else ever thinks about things like this.

So what are your plans for the day?

It's still morning here. Well, late morning, 11:40 am. I'll probably clean my kitchen, do some laundry and watch tv and play video games.

But in reality? I probably won't do laundry or clean my kitchen and just watch tv and play video games.

How about you guys?

I have dreamt of the future twice. The first one came true while the other hasn't happened yet. This is what I saw in both dreams.

I was born in 74. So I consider myself an 80s kid. In 1985 I had a dream I never forgot. But also tried to share it with my friends then and they laughed and said I was crazy.

Turns out. I was right....

I dreamt of 4 devices and 2 of those came true. The first one was vaping. So in 1985 when I tried to explain it to my mom who smoked then. I told her that they smoked mist. Like that of which comes out of a humidifier. My mother just looked at me like I was crazy and just said, that's stupid, how can you smoke water!? Walking away while shaking her head.

The other one was little handheld tvs. Or so how I explained it back then. I said everyone was obsessed with these little tvs that they were watching and they couldn't get enough of them. And everyone had one.

Back then I thought our lives must be so busy in the future that we have to watch our shows on the go.

Now, the dream I had about 10 years ago blew me away about our future that hasn't happened yet. And the way it plays out seems plausible. Which also wasn't in first person btw. But played out like a movie. A lot of my dreams do this for some strange reason.

But the tech is getting closer to reality now and I'm hearing more about it which is concerning that my dream may come true in my lifetime. Which is telepathy.

It started with teenagers doing it first. When it first comes out many are against it and are afraid of unwanted communication where they can now read our minds etc maybe brainwashing us or giving us unwanted adds or demands that won't stop.

But the catch is with the device first shown in my dream. It can not work unless you have a physical metal piece on you bare skin on your head which is about the size of a slice of cheese for sandwiches.

So in my dream teenagers wore these copper or brass like pieces on their heads but made it stylish somehow. And people began to wear clothing to match. Which looked like rich Egyptian clothing you see from history. All while having half their heads shaved for these brass metal plates formed to their heads.

After the teens used it for awhile the tech got better and the size of the plates got much smaller, only a quarter of what they used to be. And adults began to wear them which was now fitted on the back or behind the ear on the area of the scalp that doesn't have any hair.

And they made them now flesh toned that was hard to see and spot and almost everyone got one due to the safety protocols that were involved in having one.

It was a very strange dream that I didn't like at all. Like I said before, It played out more like a movie. And what made it so strange? Nobody talked anymore. You would see these huge events and it was total silence.

In this day and age if you think those on the their phones are bad. This was much worse. Just a bunch of straight faced people with 1000 yard stares that you can tell were in conversation silently with others.

I woke up thinking it's a future that I don't want to be a part of and it just blew me away that I'm glad it was only a dream.

I told the people in my dreams they didn't exist. They didn't believe me. So I did this.

I was in the cafeteria at my job. And it was packed with all these new young people. All looked to be in their 20s. Every seat in the cafeteria had someone in it. Around 60 people. Half men half women.

As I looked around I realized oh this has got to be a dream. No way my employer would hire this many people at once with no experience and all around the same age.

So I stood up and said I'm in a dream right now and none of you exist. A woman said, yeah ok, then prove it!

I said I will. I will perform an action that I know would not fly in the real world cause I know there won't be any consequences here.

She said well do it then! I said stand up and turn around. And face the wall. She did, I walked up behind her. Pulled her pants and underwear down and began eating her ass.

No one in the cafeteria said anything and she was loving it. I asked how does that feel? She said it feels wonderful. And then I woke up.

I guess that's one way to prove they didn't exist lol.

[TOMT] short vid I saw here where guy asks his wife if she wants to..

He lists a bunch of things and I think as he does she's either cleaning or putting on make-up. And she says we can't do any of those things. We have a baby. He then surprises her and says he has a babysitter and she gets so happy to finally leave the house. And he gets excited for her too.

What will really make me mad?

Is if and when paparazzi will expose these guys real appearance without their permission.

I know it will eventually happen. There are already some videos on youtube that claim this that I refuse to watch.

I read in an interview that Khn & Klek love the option that after some of their shows they can join the audience members and just talk about whatever not having to hear how great they are and just be treated like everyone else.

Maybe it has already gotten to this point. But I don't wanna know what they look like. I like the fantasy. And I think the fans do too.

So for future reference. Can we hold off on ever showing these guys faces here? Maybe perhaps have it as a golden rule?

What are your thoughts?

I think I know why time is going by much faster for us Gen Xers.

Now I am aware of the whole proportional theory. Which is when you are 5 years old, one year represents 20% of your entire life. To a child, that year feels massive because it is a huge chunk of their lived experience.

But when you are 50, one year represents only 2% of your life. Because that year is a much smaller fraction of your total "memory bank," it feels like it passes much more quickly.

But here's another strange thing that kind of relates to our generation atm. I'm about to say something that will probably piss the majority off here so please bear with me where it isn't my intention lol.

I was born in 74 and in 1985 when I watched the movie Back to the future like we all did. The idea of 1955 seemed like ages ago when it was shown in the movie as the past etc in 1985. But here's the part where you're gonna get mad lol.

1955 to 1985 is a shorter span now than 1995 is to today. But the reason why it doesn't feel as long as 1955 to 1985 imo?

Is there wasn't much change. But every decade leading up to 2000 had a massive change in looks and music.

50s 60s 70s 80s and 90s all had a look and had music of their own. You really don't get that much anymore since 2000. And if you do. Maybe I'm just too old to notice lol. Last look in fashion and music to hit the public to me was grunge in the 90s. If there has been anything after that it's news to me.

So what are your thoughts? Think I have something here, or do you think it's something else as to why 1995 doesn't seem as long ago as 1955 did to us in 1985.

I'm a bit concerned about Klek.

After a full show that poor guy sweats all his makeup off his arms. I can't imagine how hot it must be in that outfit of his working those drums as hard as he does.

I hope they have a better cooling system for him other than just fans I've seen on stage. Kind of hard to blow air in that suit the way that it's built and all.

Last thing I want is the poor guy having a heat stroke on stage.

Well that's kind of trippy....

My buddy and I are in my vehicle and we're cruising along and listening to fabienk. And he says. Wow, for some aliens these guys are kind of morbid.

I laugh and ask how is that? He says can't you hear it? They're saying She Was Dead. I laughed and said no, they're actually saying Sebastian.

He disagrees and says just listen. So I do, we're listening to the studio album btw on Spotify. And I can hear it! But only if I expect to hear she was dead.

And then the moment I change it in my mind to Sebastian. It's back to that!

Next time you're listening to the album try and see. It's like you can't unhear it once you try it. Kind of trippy.

I just learned and discovered that their music is A.I.

Alien Intelligence..... 😉

When I come home from a long hard days work. One of my favorite things to do is watch a few live shows of theirs on youtube.

Always puts a smile on my face. Lately I been really enjoying all the new vids from the jazz fest too.

Anyone else do this?

(UPDATE) Need some advice from fellow Gen Xers (Graduation Party)

First I wanna thank all those here that responded and gave me ideas on what to do.

For those that haven't read it. You can read it here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GenX/s/dPMLmDs9WR

Here's what I did. Drum roll?...............

I went!

Out of a 1 to 10 scale 10 being the best time I ever had and 1 being worst. It was around a 6.

I was only there around 90 mins. I said my hellos and congradulated her on her graduation etc. We spoke for about 5 mins. She's going to college in the fall while majoring in accounting.

She was happy I showed up. I put her card along with the 100 in the box.

First person I run into is my sister.

The party was outside where the weather was beautiful btw and she was there on the deck and saw me first.

She seemed really off. Like she must be on some meds or was high on something. But she was really chilled. And I sat next to her the whole time with no issues where I spoke to her youngest son my other nephew that I get along with just fine. And him and I spoke the most together.

Now as for her oldest son where it's his daughter's graduation and the one where we can't even be in the same room?

We never spoke and the moment he saw that I was there he avoided me and so I reciprocated.

Now here's what made me mad. My entire intention to go to this thing all along was to have some barbecued food. I have yet to have some cookout food this year and there was none!

It was all store bought mass food. Like trays of chicken and foods in slow cookers like meatballs etc.

Once I saw that I thought. Well shit, had I known this I probably wouldn't even came lol. Ah well.

At least I went and got it out of the way. My aunts gave me hugs goodbyes and hand shakes from my uncle's.

It was an ok experience and I'm glad I went. It's a 25 min ride one way. I left my place at 2pm and was home by 430pm.

One of my aunts invited me to her 4th of July gathering. So I may go to that in hopes to get some barbcued food lol.

Once again thank you to everyone here that responded to my initial post and this one as well. You guys rock!

Need some advice from my fellow Gen Xers.

Update:

I went... There is a post about it that is more recent that is basically named the same that you can find here

https://www.reddit.com/r/GenX/s/QvC39ORr62

Thanks to all that commented.

It's my grand nieces graduation party tomorrow. Her and I have no relationship at all. I have maybe said 100 words or less to her in the 18 years she's been alive.

I can't stand her dad. He's a piece of shit and so is his mother, my sister. It's way too long to explain why. But trust me when I say they are both garbage.

But......

My aunt, which is my mothers sister. Is hosting the party. She's great, I get along with her and my uncle. So there will be people there I get along with.

I have 2 options. I go and give Mariah my grand niece a card and 100 bucks and I get to eat grilled food and chat with those I do get along with. But never talk to them on a regular basis anymore. And haven't since my parents passed.

Or.....

I just don't go at all. And avoid any kind of conflict with my sister and nephew. My sister is fake as fuck and says she wants me to come. This crazy bitch told her x boyfriend that she's always hated me and can't stand me etc. And then proceeds to give me a hug when she sees me kind of fake.

I never told her what he said cause she's a habitual liar and will just deny it.

So this means I'll have to fake a smile and act like nothing is wrong. The last time her and I saw each other was when my mom died at the nursing home back in October where my sister maybe went to visit my mom maybe 5 times in the 3 years she was there.

All my sister has ever cared about is herself and only showed up to see my parents was when she needed money.

I could go on and on about how bad of a person she is. But I'll save you from that burden.

So, with all that in mind. Would you guys still go to see family that you never see anymore. 2 aunts, 1 uncle and a few cousins. And a sister and her son that I hate. For his daughter's graduation where I don't even know?

Or just not go?

A few people at work are telling me to go. Only because they said if you dont. You'll look like the bad guy. I told them I don't care how I look to people I don't care to win their favor anyway.

That's when they said. Just go for the barbecue then.

I have a strange fetish that is very hard to fulfil and I wish I never discovered it.

Around 10 to15 years ago or so I saw a vid of woman dancing in a bikini where her pubic hair was peaking out of the top. But it was intentional.

And I found it to be a huge turn on.

Why is this so hard to find? Because most modern day women shave all of it or wax it. I for one like a woman to have something below.

My personal favorite is that of Lena Paul. It's grown but shaved on the sides. Just Google her, Lena Paul Bikini and you'll see what I mean.

Only videos I have ever seen this done. Are usually the micro bikini oily dance vids where I discovered this fetish of mine.

It's almost to a point where I would like to create a genre and call it Bikini Peak. Where women wear bikinis in this fashion and you get a peak of the public hair.

I made the mistake thinking it was a legit shirt but just sold on Amazon. Boy, was I wrong! All it is, is a damn iron on! I'm pretty sure the shirt was 14.99
