Hi! gonna be a short post but i genuinely don’t know how to do this. my fiancée (22f) and i (22f) just moved 2.5 hours away from our college town and college friends for a new job i just got. i feel so isolated and lonely. all my college friends were met in classes and we were all neighbors so being friends and making friends was so easy. as a “real” adult out of our college bubble, im totally lost as to how to make friends. any suggestions? plz anything helps!

My step sister (17f) told me (22f) a couple weeks ago the worst news i could ever hear: she’s been SA’d. Not only was it by a stranger, it was my dad. she told her mom today and it now feels really real and i just don’t know how to feel. here’s what she told her mom (my stepmom):
“So I need to talk to you about somethings very important, ive always been scared to tell you or anybody because I knew how much it would change everything. And for the longest I didnt even realize that it wasnt normal, until I did and I thought about it a lot and then just these past 2 years I think about it more and more and more and its honestly messing me up overall. So when I was 9 - 10 years old, I was sexually assaulted multiple times by the same man. And im really sorry to say but that man was adam. Every night u would work nights at (redacted), even some days u were home in the shop, or when I would go stay the night at the (my dads work), even on car rides it was just me and him. Basically anytime we were alone. And I was always uncomfortable but when it started I thought it was bad and I told him to stop and i was just really confused, and then as time went on he tried to teach me that it was normal. That everyone does it and that it was okay. I felt he was lying but at the same time I didnt know fs I mean atm he was the adult and I was just a kid. And then I dont really remember how it stopped im pretty sure it kinda fell into when you stopped working nights and then I was also just like no im done I want to anymore or ill tell, bc he would beg me not to say anything. Im really trying to sugar coat it the best I can bc ik its hard to concept. And 10th grade year he was drunk and kept coming in my room and offering me alcohol and then he would leave and then he came back and then asked for my chromebook password and i literally gave it to him and then he left and came back and smashed my school chromebook on the corner of my bed and then snaped it in half over his knee and then an hour after that he was in the living room punching himself and then he came in my room to "apologize" and tell me how much he loves me or wtv and then he asked me if i ever think about the past "what he did with me" and then asked to do it again. Which that is when i really started rethinking about the past and remembering everything he did. I talked to OP and my Dad last week, so they know. I needed to find the right words to tell you bc ik its gonna be hard. If u need more detail or have any questions I got you. I feel horrible because it was so long ago. I know i should've said something way sooner but idk I just didnt so im very sorry that ive let you live under it the whole time.”

Of course tn stepmom was freaking out and crying. Said she was gonna k!ll him (my dad). I texted him to make sure he was okay and he said “no” so i said “just making sure you haven’t hurt yourself. i love you but idk what i’m supposed to think ab this whole thing”
he said “Id never hurt myself period. Especially over something stupid.

idk what’s gonna happen with my family, and my heat is so torn. of course i love my dad and my sister. but i also believe my sister. something similar happened to me when i was young so i know how it is.

This is the worst. Today is the last “normal” father’s day i’ll have. My younger step sister told me two weeks ago that my dad (her stepdad) used to SA her when she was a kid. like offering bribes to keep her quiet (money) and told her it was normal. she said she is telling her biological mom on wednesday and i’m nervous but also glad she’s speaking up about it. it happens to more people than you realize and i told her that of course (it happened to me by my great grandpa). i almost didn’t even wanna text him today. my heart is so torn and idek how to feel. any advise is great.

Hi! This is pretty straight forward, but with me graduating college and starting my first real job in august (salary will be about 56k), I am hoping to buy my first car for myself. I want something affordable but more recent (my current car is 2005 scion xb, still works but is ugly and coming up on 250k miles). What car brands are best for safety and affordability? I was thinking of a Kia K5 but my brother (who’s a mechanic) says they depreciate quickly and are hard to insure. What do i get reddit?

Hey everyone! I just graduated from college and signed a contract yesterday for a freshman biology position. Tomorrow is my last day student teaching AP Biology!
