We have been considering getting a second dog, but I just have a few questions.

Hi, everyone! I currently have a dog who is gentle and friendly and I have been considering getting a second dog, because I’d love to train another pup. The current dog is 2yo (we’ve had her since 5mo) and appears to be around the same size and energy level of a Keeshond though she is a mix from a rescue, which is ideal for me because then I can eventually walk them together, so we don’t have to walk one then then other.

Clarifications: While I believe my pup would love a friend, but I am not getting a second dog with the expectation that I’ll have to exercise them less or something. I know that with a second dog you can expect to close double the work.

Though there are a few things I worry about,

  1. I live in TX and I hear they are heat prone, this worries me, what do y’all do when it is too hot? What’s the ideal temperatures for them?

  2. I believe I can deal with some vocalizations as the current dog does talk a little bit (I have worked to bring it down) and she already barks at unfamiliar things in the yard, but I get her to stop by going out to check it out and then say “Okay” to get her to know it’s all good. How much vocalization can I expect, and how have y’all delt with it. (Extra question but do they vocalize at night alot or do they sleep good?)

  3. On average (unless it’s too hot) I’ll take my dog out for 45-60 minute walks. I also do playtime throughout the day. From what I see online that be okay for this doggo, but I want to make sure so I am asking yall.

Sorry I know these are long questions and I will probably find the answers on my own as I do more research, but I just wished to ask here for people who have actually owned them for some specific tips. This is just the beginning phase so I might decide not to get one, but I just wish to check it out. :) thank you to anyone who takes the time to reply! ❤️

How should one raise their kids?

Right, this may be a dumb question, but it is one I am struggling with. I hear so many different things, and I know I should raise any kids I may have to follow God, but how do I do that? I can't look at my own parents, not because they aren't Christian, but because they never really even told me about Jesus; they just answered "yes" one day when I came home from school and asked if we were Christian or not. They'll answer questions if we ask, and we finally started going to church on Wednesdays, but I don't think that's how you raise Christian kids. Though I hear about other kids' parents who get them to read the bible and everything, the kids turn away and stop believing. If I have kids, I wish to raise them to be strong in the Lord, but does anyone here know how to do that?

Sophie is a neighborhood kids favorite!

I am not showing the kids petting her for obvious privacy reasons and I haven’t taken pictures because these are someone else’s kids :), but it’s really cute every single time we pass their driveway they always come and ask to pet her. I don’t know if it’s for some other reason but it’s like she knows not to jump on them ^_^ she’s surprisingly gentle or just like nonchalant. I am always careful around kids just in case but she’s always been amazing! 🥲

Would anyone be willing To Draw My Dog, Guinea pig, and/or Spider?

Names:

Guinea Pig: Gentle! She is a Senior Piggy that loves apples, tomatoes and lettuce, but will tolerate Bell peppers. As she is a Queen and we are pheasants she deserves top notch attention. Her friend unfortunately passed so she has no one to rule with :(

Dog: Sophie! Originally named Provolone, we clicked immediately at the shelter, she is chill with whatever we do and is particularly attached to me, but loves everyone. She is attached to a special fluffy pink blanket she brings everywhere. (You can see it in the back ground in the first picture of her) She doesn’t like boarding because she was originally returned before we got her (the previous owners apartment apparently had a pet policy they didn’t know of) overall sweetest doggo.

Jumping Spider: His name is Brody, he is very nervous and not brave, especially when hunting, but he’ll climb on my hand to look around.

She needs her Special ✨ Pink Fluffy Blanket, no other will do!

If her special fluffy isn’t laid upon the couch for her she gets down to go find it. 😂

Wild, curious little dude crawled on me and was looking at me

(OC) lowk little guy was really friendly no biting occurred, he was a pretty big jumper but I’ve seen bigger. Super cute! 🥰

What’s y’all’s opinion on saying “Emotions Pass”

Maybe not exactly that phrase but phrases to a similar effect. I feel that they can do good so the person knows this feeling isn’t forever, but they are often it seems used very dismissively. (At least as far as I have seen it) For example, when I confessed to being (TW) >!suicidal!< when I was ~12 my doctor and another one dismissed it as passing emotion, likely because they dismissed it as me being a dramatic 12 year old. (I am better now ya’ll no thanks to them) I don’t think they had the intention to be dismissive but they were. What are y’all’s thoughts? 💭

I was sick and she was with me ❤️‍🩹🥹

Yesterday I was feeling headaches and a bit sick since I felt uncomfortably warm I decided to put Sophie in her crate, but when I woke up this morning she was right next to me in bed. I have no idea when or where I let her out or if she let herself out, but I feel better now. :)

Thinking About Getting a Bearded Dragon: Any Care Tips?

I have always very much liked lizards, and I currently care for snails and a dog. I likely won't be getting one until much more research (yes, I will do research outside of Reddit, of course) is done and everything is set up, but I'd like to know what level of care people think bearded dragons are, and if there are any helpful tips to give. I don't plan on getting a pet store bearded dragon, since I live near a reptarium, which I very much enjoy visiting. I plan to get a full-sized enclosure (I might buy a custom-built one to get a bigger size because I am looking for a 3ft width rather than the average 2ft, and I have plenty of room for a bigger enclosure), but block off part of it while the bearded dragon grows. Here are just some basic questions I have that I'll also research on my own time:

  1. How handleable are they?

  2. Is there a difference between males and females? (rather than the obvious y'all)

  3. How many times do you need to feed a juvenile a day, I so far am seeing 2-3 times a day for fifteen minutes (using gut-loaded bugs ofc).

  4. When do I switch from 80% bugs and 20% as a juvenile to 20% bugs and 80% vegtables from juvenile to adult? (I got these percentages from AI, so tell me if I am wrong here. I am very early on in the research journey)

Please add on anything you feel may be helpful to me, or dangerous myths surrounding their care to look out for. Thank you! :)

Coffee Cup Snail

(There is no coffee inside just a a bit of water) I want to take him home so he has gone incognito. I’ve named him coffee so if anyone asks what’s inside I can say “coffee”

Trying to draw the Malinois

Hi everyone! I recently tried drawing a maligator and realized I could not for the life of me figure it out, so I need y’all’s help here, I’ll comment any drawings I do, but I can’t promise I’ll draw everyone. These pictures above are examples of what I can draw which has been mostly Pit-bulls and retrievers. Thank you if you do help me out!
