Budget wireless trackball mouse? (Around or below 1k)
Looking for a trackball mouse since nacucurious talaga ako sa usability niya, pero it seems like medyo mahal (1.5k upwards) yung mga nakikita ko. Any recos for decent wireless trackball mice na around or below 1k, na good for someone na never pa nakakagamit ng trackball mouse?
Are they not pushing fully on the straights yet? (FP3)
[Assetto Corsa] AC randomly reaches 99% CPU occupancy, lags my entire syste, (GNOME 50)
Assetto Corsa randomly gives me a 99% CPU occupancy warning in any session after a few minutes (including solo practice sessions and 20 car races), and it lags both AC and GNOME, with large amounts of input delay. I haven't tried an x11 desktop yet since GDM won't let me boot x11 DEs, and I can't use LightDM for some reason.
When the 99% CPU occupancy warning happens, nothing abnormal shows up in the System Monitor.

[Assetto Corsa] AC immediately opens a session at Mangione with a Lotus Elise SC, exiting closes the game and I can't enter the main menu
Just installed Assetto Corsa through Lutris and when I open AC, it immediately loads a session with a Lotus Elise SC at Magione and I can't open the main menu.

Will there ever be a mod for 10+ car races in GT4?
I'm aware that the 6 car races were on purpose due to hardware limitations, but given that PS2 emulation has come a long way and is now super accessible, will 10+ car races be possible with mods?

How are the 499P's fairing against other cars for the 24H of Le Mans?
May be an off-topic post, but I really want AF Corse WEC content to be more involved here.
Can I move my FNV install from one Linux PC to another?
I have an FNV install (Steam version) on one Linux laptop, and it has dozens of mods (manually installed) and with an offline save, and I want to move it to another Linux laptop. I can't just swap in the old SSD to the new laptop for various reasons.
I don't want to manually reinstall all of my mods since manual modding is a bit complicated on Linux and it took me a few hours to work it, and I'm not even sure if I can move an offline save alone.
Laptop 1 (old) has Linux Mint
Laptop 2 (new) has EndeavourOS
Open world/large map driving game with car physics similar to Gran Turismo
I'm currently loving Gran Turismo 4 Spec II right now on my laptop, but I'm honestly itching for a relaxing open world driving game with somewhat realistic physics.
I haven't tried out the Forza Horizon series, but it seems too chaotic/fast paced for me, and I'm unsure about the driving physics. I'm still open to trying it out though, if FH1 or FH2 runs on Linux fine with my configuration.
Any suggestions that are hopefully older than 2015 or are very optimized? I have a very weak laptop (i5 8265U, Nvidia MX230, 12GB DDR4, and on Linux) so something that isn't too intensive is basically a must.
People who heavily use Generative AI/LLMs for personal use should run their models locally on their computers instead of relying on online services
With the news of a new AI datacenter to be constructed in Clark City, the thought of a large 4000-acre datacenter possibly polluting the surrounding area concerns me.
For a few months na, maraming stories coming from other countries complaining about AI-centered datacenters polluting local waters and eating through the electricity supply and increasing local electricity bills.
Due to the AI industry, anything na may memory chips nagtaas yung presyo. Game consoles, pre-built PCs, laptops, RAM sticks, SSDs, and even SD cards.
Instead of relying on datacenters for AI use, lahat (or at least a large majority) ng heavily gumagamit ng AI for personal use should instead run the AI models locally, with their own hardware.
This is already an actual option pero hindi widespread so far maliban sa mga tech savvy. I think forcing or pushing users to run AI models locally would reduce the overall demand for datacenter-level hardware, eventually lowering product prices for consumers, and it would also lower the risk of pollution and lessen the pressure on the electricity grid.
I think it could also enlighten/educate uninformed individuals on the amount of hardware, electricity, and resources that running AI actually requires, since AI models require large amounts of VRAM/memory, computing power, electricity, and cooling (water).
Of course, AI shouldn't solely be available to those who can afford expensive hardware, but there should be restrictions on online AI software on usage, so that users can afford the required hardware are incentivized to use local AI models instead.
Also, IIRC Apple Intelligence is already ran locally on iPhones. Nowhere near the best generative AI model out there, but it's a step towards a future of accessible local AI.
Are there any proper/official recordings of the jazz versions of Fragile and While You Were Sleeping on streaming sites that aren't grouped together with other songs in a video?
I absolutely adore these two renditions but I've been bummed out for a while since I can't find proper individual recordings for these two on Spotify/Youtube/YouTube music, and the only ways I can listen to them are by going through her live performances on YouTube or fan recordings on TikTok.

Reaching 100°C on i5 8265U, Ideapad S340-15IWL
Hi! I just repasted my S340-15IWL with Arctic MX-6 recently, cleaned out the fans and heatsink, and it still reaches anywhere between 93°C to 100°C. It doesn't shut down, but it does throttle massively from 3.8-3.6 GHz all the way down to 2.4-2.6 GHz. Is this bad thermal design from Lenovo, or an inefficient CPU? Is it normal for this model?
Specs:
- Intel i5 8265U
- Nvidia 940MX
- 12 GB DDR4 2133 MHz
- EndeavourOS, but I have tried Linux Mint and W11 IoT LTSC, same results
Why do so many people just refuse to use lens hoods?
Maybe it's a stupid question, but I'm actually so peeved whenever I'm covering general events and I keep seeing great lenses without lens hoods. Especially professional glass, that *REALLY* grinds my gears, even more so if that lens already comes with a lens hood.
Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I can't think of a reason why someone wouldn't use lens hoods on lenses that cost like 400+ USD unless they don't know that the lens has a hood option. But regardless, it's one of my biggest pet peeves lol
intel-undervolt wont work, i5 8265U
sudo intel-undervolt apply keeps outputting CPU (0): Values do not equal when I enter an undervolt. I've tried resetting my BIOS to factory settings (a Manjaro forum about this mentioned resetting BIOS to factory settings) and nothing changed.
intel-undervolt Config:# Enable or Disable Triggers (elogind)
# Usage: enable [yes/no]
enable yes
# CPU Undervolting
# Usage: undervolt ${index} ${display_name} ${undervolt_value}
# Example: undervolt 2 'CPU Cache' -25.84
undervolt 0 'CPU' -90
undervolt 1 'GPU' 0
undervolt 2 'CPU Cache' 0
undervolt 3 'System Agent' 0
undervolt 4 'Analog I/O' 0
(I already tried -50 and -25 on undervolt 0, same result)
sudo intel-undervolt apply Output:

CPU Cache (2): -0.00 mV
System Agent (3): -0.00 mV
Analog I/O (4): -0.00 mV
