Watched: likely somewhere between 1995-2005, leaning towards earlier.

On TV, in Japan.

Language: Japanese

Art style: 80s/90s. Mix of retrofurtistic, but also an Aztec themed location (possibly, a spaceship landed there).

Specific imageary and characters: several humanoid aliens, one female human. One of the aliens remained in the shop, with a wound to the stomach. I vaguely remember that one of them had turned traitor, or perhaps they had been pursuing, or being pursued by, another of their species. They might have had two arms, but they might also have had four arms (ie two sets). Possibly just the two arms ie one set though). The human female had disembarked or was otherwise not on the ship. The had a small animal companion, fox or squirrel-like, that ended up getting sacrificed by the aztec-like tribe (head or body falls down, blood emerges).

Tone: turned somewhat dark by the end (see above), but images I remember being somewhat colourful and bright (i.e. bright sunshine etc), I'm less sure about this though.

I don't recall anything about music.

As far as other unusual things, I've mainly covered already above. One other thing about the small animal companion - it was initially being treated very well by the 'aztec locals', as in being fed well etc. I don't know why it ended up gettting seemingly killed.
