In part 2 of the mantle quest, you get the white mage to help you defat all the enemies, leading her, and then after she defeats the bird she leads you somewhere strange you.. probably weren’t intended to be. In the chapter 5 weird route, Noelle confesses how killing those enimies and especially Berdly, made her feel more powerful then ever, then she took charge and led you through the lake, to get you somewhere you probably aren’t supposed to be. I BELIVE part 1 of the mantle quest foreshadows chapter 2’s weird route, - fighting enemies, getting stronger, having to go out of your way to kill a bluebird, even though it doesn’t benefit you whatsoever- part 2 is chapter 5’s- the mage having defeated enemies, led you somewhere you weren’t supposed to be- and by process of elimination, part 3 foreshadows chapter 7. am I cooking or should I be banned from the kitchen?

I like to imagine they’re close friends who annoy the living shit out of each other like 99% of the time, but at the same time, would gladly help the other bury the body for one another no questions asked
