Friend just hooked me up with this

I live near a campground and befriend a lot of homeless folks that stay there. I like to ride through and check on folks and help as much as I can. One of my friends who is staying at the campground just gave me this. Perfect timing seeing how it’s raining here on the 4th. Bout to dive into this one. Much love to this sub and the motorcycle community. Happy Independence Day

Update: this is a difficult book to read. I still like it so far but the first chapter definitely tries to make you put it down. 2nd chapter is a little better so I’ll keep reading.

2003 TTR225

Hey guys, so my buddy has this for sale. It’s a 2003 TTR225 with 12000 miles. He is asking $2000 for it. He has had it looked over by a shop and says everything checks out but will need sprockets and chain soon. May I get some of your opinions and what to look out for please? I currently ride an Africa Twin and my son rides a KLX230. I’m wanting something smaller than the AT to be able to ride with my son. I’ll be keeping the AT just wanting something smaller to play around with. Give me your feedback please.

Bertha the Dump Truck

Never really liked four wheelers. I haul wood on this thing, 23 mile round trip to get my water out of a spring back up in the mountains. Old fire/logging roads. I never thought I’d ride an automatic motorcycle. This is 1st gen and bad ass. I can’t wait till I grow up and can get a new”er” one!

Swapping out bars

My son got the wrong bars for his KLX and they are just right for my Twin. (Protaper Contour’
My question is does anyone use dielectric grease in their controls and switches? Should I just swap and leave alone or while they are apart apply new dielectric to protect internal environment? Thanks in advance.

Tramped ‘74 XLH Ironhead.

This was one of my best friends old man’s bike. It was sitting for 15+ years. He pretty much gave me the bike and a tote full of parts.

This was my first time filling a battery with acid. lol. I am eat up. lol. Bike was missing the bowl and float off the S&S carb. So I got that and am priming a new 3.1 gallon gas tank. She cranked over tonight and puked oil all over the floor so I know the oil pump is working. I’m putting the pet cock in the tank and filling her up tomorrow. I don’t care about paint. I have to hear her run.

I’ve always rode dirt, dual sport and sport bikes. Never really been a Harley guy. I have a Honda Africa Twin that I absolutely love but this bike has me hooked. Taking a mess and bringing her back to life. This one has a lot more meaning, blood, sweat and honestly tears. Being my homeboys late dads.

Anyway I’m excited to be riding one of the last right hand shift XLHs left. Cheers

The whole shebang. From afar.

This has the old tank on it, which is completely rotted out. It will be running tomorrow.

One of my best friends father’s ‘74 XLH1000

One of my best friends’s father‘s passed away, and this had been sitting for 15 years. As a tribute to his late dad, I am going to make this bitch hard and I’m going to make this bitch clean. So far I got a new gas tank, S&S bowl and float, and battery.

Witnessed this guy cross the double lines to pass me in a turn and the painted lines got him.

BMW got a little cocky being behind me on my Africa Twin. Passed me on solid double lines in a right hand turn. Watched him apply the brakes and he and the bike went down. I’m 98% sure it was his amount of lean applying the brakes at his speed and the lines became ice. I stayed with him until the ambulance took him to be picked up by a helicopter. He is alive but I don’t know how.

Tires

Started out with Trailmax missions. Went to Trailmax Raid. Got about 2300 miles and need a back tire. What do yall suggest? I need something that going to last more than 2300 miles. I probably ride half pavement and half dirt/gravel. Pretty aggressively on both.
