As a youngster in the 1980's I got introduced to Marvin's 'Wherever I lay my hat' because of the 1983 Paul Young version.

Listening to Marvin's performance at the 1983 NBA All-Star game reminded me of the similarities between it and Paul Young's cover plus the sounds of 1983's 'Midnight Love'. This mix is a bit of a realisation of that idea in my head.

We're Not Gonna Take It (1984 Vocals / 2004 Music)

An edit I did of 'We're Not Gonna Take It' by Twisted Sister using the 2004 music and the 1984 band vocals.

The band re-recorded all the tracks from 1984's Stay Hungry in 2004 in a heavier style and a lower key.

I like the extended solo and the tones on the re-recorded version on 'Still Hungry' but there was something about Dee's 1984 version I missed. So I've pitched the key up to match the 1984 vocals just to hear what the 'heavier version' with the 84 vocals would sounded like.

I always had a soft spot for this song but the strings were too much for my tastes.

Here's a bit more of a Ramones-y style mix with the strings just in the solo.

What Motown legend Tammi Terrell would have sounded like with a rock band backing, paired with the Slade version recorded in 1969.

Isaac Hayes - I'm gonna have to tell her (Gonna have to tell her edit)

This is an interesting alternate mix : the original version had really specific lyrics about having an affair, but this is just the vocal hook and Isaac's great instrumentation arrangment.

Makes you imagine what Isaac feels in his soul that he has to tell.

Nothing Compares 2 U - 84 Vocals / 90 Music

A bit of a niche post. This is Prince singing Nothing Compares 2 U from 1984 but tuned and arranged with the Sinead O'Connor production.

This was done by me to satisfy an itch I had as a 12 year old when hearing Sinead's version version but imagining what Prince would have sounded like singing it with that melody . Sharing in case anyone else was curious.
