About the 20th anniversary editions

I understand that they are in a way a catch-all for the myriad books that came before for vampire, mage, werewolf, changeling and wraith...but how compatible are they towards say, hunter, demon and mummy? Asking in terms of being someone who is searching for a "unified" version of each book in kind of the same way it's sister series, chronicles of darkness, has done.

Regarding the books- some brief observations

So, from what i've been understanding as someone who is collecting info on these, the main system uses colors in specific roles, explains about the customized essence20 system used and gives out light tips on how to play, which is fine as kind of a north for experienced RPG players, with more info and customization onnother books beyond the core one...what comes to mind is the (understandable) criticism regarding being "locked" into color roles at first because the extra content was made later, then the whole game was indeed like the transforners one in that basic stuff to play as the autobots was made first, with options for decepticon PCs, combiners and even beast modes added later on

GURPS 3E-TRANSFORNERS

Just out of curiosity, i'd like to know how would people in here both create cybertronian characters and also what kind of stories and hooks you'd create, because the universe as a whole is pretty big and full of fun things to explore and experiment with

DOS ghoul soul

Humorously, for those who played castlevania dawn of sorrow, we know the ghoul soul let's one "eat spoiled food"...which suddenly makes the copious spoiled milks and rotten meats a potent source of healing.

But that's not the point, the point is...how do you people imagine Soma' reactions to it? Because as the opening shows, he can focus upon which monster to draw on...thus it's more akin to how you picture this soul's activation in-universe

Doctor who: the roleplaying game 2nd edition

SO! I just got knowledge that there is a oficial RPG of Doctor who made by cubicle 7 no less, who has quite the track record of enjoyable games (I do know plenty of people enjoy their warhammer titles and the alien RPG), what's even better is that it seems cross-compatible woth the 1st edition books...I might get plenty of fun through this

But alas, for those who played the game, or are playing (eh...wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey, I love this phrase), what are your thoughts? Did you have fun? As RPG players, did the more narratively-oriented system good for you? And so on

An brief opinion insofar of the companions of season 6

For starters, have patience with the typo, this is series 5 i'm speaking of, but with that out of the way...

To be fair, right now i just finished amy's choice and, though it is a great horror episode with quite the twist at the end (at least for me...), what i am enjoying more watching this sense surprisingly is NOT the doctor (though smith's doctor is awesome, yes)...but rather the develoments of both Amy and Rory as characters.

On one hand, Amy is the excitable new arrival present in plenty of seasons, though with a sharp edge to her steeming in part from clear abandonent issues while rory acts as a sweet counterpoint: he's not particularly brave, courageous or wise (Smart though he IS...being a practicing nurse takes a great many years to the point he arrived going by friends' experiences, adding to the fact he has read a fair bit on scientific theories by the point of Vampires of Venice), though what's more poignant to me this far is that, even with his supposed cowardice, this man is deeply loyal to his fiancé beyond the jokes, and this episode alongside the previous one is the truly first time said bond was showcased not as a joke.

In short, this is basically the developing opinions of a newer fan of this duo, watching this series is a blast!

A goodbye to the end...of time!

So, relatively new whovian here, began akready running with series 3 (woth the 10th doctor) and just finished the end of time two-parter and i have stuff to say...

Namely about the TARDIS, look, i understand he was most likely feeling his insides burning due to the radiation, with turved vision and all...but this crazy man just had to blow the TARDIS during regeneration, yes? Jokes aside, i am interested in seeing what Matt Smith bribgs to the table as a similarly wild-haired, just as jumpy doctor, going by his very first scene of crashing into the earth....

The wonder and fun of truenamers

As someone properly reading this class, wonky as it is in some reviews for the first time, both the concept of it and what it can mechanically do seem very sweet actually! And honestly, coming off a recent watching of doctor who makes truenamers even more fun to imagine ("i name thee CARRIONITE!)

SO! Moving my point across, i'd be interested to read some of your stories with playable truenamers before and add myself one example in pure theory: a human lawyer naned Theodor, who upon discovering the calacity for magic and thus, truenaming...suddenly has niw the capacity to summon bouts of wind whenever he points or exclaims "OBJECTION!" (why yes, a ace attorney reference in this economy indeed!)

UPDATE FOR POSTERIOR READERS: though this class is mechanically awful, the capacity to learn truespeak via a chain of feats instead of having the baggage of using the truenamer proper means that the main appeal of this class can still be bought as a add-on to exosting magical classes. It doesn't redeem the truenamer necessarily, but it DOES allow one to use from it's main (awesome) gimmick in better grounds

Regarding the TARDIS's hijinks

We know that the TARDIS is sentient, but humorously as fans is the oportunity to imagine what she is thinking on any given moment, preferably with a sharp british accent on ocasions that she is kidnapped, inconveniences (like the doctor regenerating inside her) and so on

Crossover fun: trigun and the doctor

Interestingly, both the doctor and vash seem to share plenty of elements, and he could become quite the companion in fact, also in a meta-sense because both their characters share a lot of similarities between themselves.

Combat of mind

Hello fellow pathfinder enjoyers! I was wondering what were your opinions on both player and GM-facing sides regarding combat in theater of mind are. Pathfinder can do well both in theater of mind amd tactical combat as both are viable ways to play, but it's neat to see what others folk think about it out of curiosity

Wild savage Barb!

I was wondering, this archetype is quite neat both mechanically and narratively, so i got curious to see what others have done with it in terms of character concepts, because i really enjoy seeing what people come up with

ADDENDUN: it's actually called "true primitive", i mixed the archetype's name but for the sake of clarity i was referring to the barbarian from off-range communities that completely eschew civilization and can add trophies of slain foes to their rudimental clothinbmg for bonuses

Pathfinder lost omens

Greetings! Since i was looking for them and haven't found any, does anyone have the following lost omens books? Namely rival academies, draconic codex and in unrelated cases, the core books monster core 2 and NPC core?

Follow up: more spelljammer goodies

More tests for playable plasmoids, this time using the optional rules for no class limitations for humanoids, using the wizard (rough sketch), barbarian and rogue plasmoids as examples

Here's provisional stats, for the mechanically interested (clearly, i'm new to homebrewing) :

  • general: only light armor, + D6 taken against bludgeoning , half damage against slashing, medium or small size.

-degleath: +2 DEX, -2 WIS

-delnori: +2 CON, -2 INT

brainstorming for spelljamming

Don't know about you folk, but taling inspiration of one of the genuinely fun additions to 5e spelljammer, the idea of plasmoids as one of the available spacefaring races is actually pretty sweet

So for 2e, strictly in theory here's a plasmoid adventurer, likely a corsair fighter as a proof of concept sketch, potentially the first ebtry into something i may develop for my group further

Bakemono sketching!

For those that are fans of these goblinkin, here's some gouache head snapshots for you...in my head, i believe they'd be easily playable for a kara-tur campaign using the goblins from complete book of humanoids, or in shorter words: they rock

u/Major-Supermarket917 — 3 months ago

Humorously, i was thinking again on castlevania through Dnd which is definitely possible (especially for, say...ravenloft) and that brings me to fun thoughts upon which i may ocasionally expand on:

The belmonts are paladins, most definitely: even with no or little magic, the fact that they work on behalf of the catholic church, wielding a assortment of holy weaponry and eventually having magic strong enough to be innate (entering the realm of multiclassing) makes them fit the bill

Soma definitely is a fighter/ magic user in 2e, and a eldritch knight in 3e, which are fanciful choices

Same would go for shanoa, though i like to think she is in fact fully a wizard with high DEX AND INT (namely she starts OoE really quite weak- speaking as someone who has played the game, especially with her early glyphs burning through her MP)

And for my FAVORITE PART: THE MONSTERS! as someone who loooves perusing the MMs, i do enjoy thinking that the vampire bat is simply a giant bat, or optionally/alternatively a bat swarm, whereas other prevalent monsters have rather clear equivalents like the various undead, the creature being a flesh golem alongside the various types of golem proper to reflect both enemy and boss variants and so on...

The mongrelfolk in the complete book of humanoids are described as a mix of humanoids and animals....and i just had the silliest idea: a very kind, cheery mongrelfolk with mantis characteristics who frequently thumbs up to show he means well

AKA for tokusatsu fans: yusuke godai/ kuuga
