Context: Rudeus (2000's reincarnate) is picking out a slave to do craftsman work, but doesn't want to get 'scammed' - "The less savory markets would sell off slaves who were sick or even on the brink of death, and though there were bargains to be found there, beginners like us wouldn’t know the difference between a good deal and a scam. So instead, we made our way to a market that was both beginner-friendly and aimed at clientele with deeper pockets."
It seems immoral to offer death to a starving, socially isolated, enslaved child, since their circumstances can affect their decision - circumstances you can change for a measly amount of money. (Rudeus is estimated to have bought his mansion for ~1000 gold coins, his friend Zanoba is a third prince and is paying for the slave anyway.)
Aditionally, Rudeus is aware that his view - mental illness being incurable - is stupid, as he himself didn't give up on life.
Thirdly, using life experience of being a shut-in to project onto a slave seems immoral, since the slave's physical condition can be quickly improved.
Four, is it immoral to test a slave's productivity with the treat of death? She is the only one that fits their criteria. Rudeus is unlikely to follow through with killing a 6 year old. Even if he did, he would still need to pay for business damages. This makes the whole thing pointless.
Context: Paul (Father) got Lilia (maid) pregnant. Lilia had purposefully left the door open while bathing to tempt Paul. He is known as a pervert, but has been faithful till now.
Lilia is Zenith's (Mother's) best friend and plans returning to her hometown to raise the baby. (She is planning to leave in ~7 months from now, after the baby is born. Zenith responds: "You'll be worn out from childbirth. The long journey will be too much for you." Paul also wants to help.
The protagonist (Rudeus) also doesn't want the maid to die. He uses his 34-year-old-memories-in-5-year-old-body manipulation ability and comes up with a scheme: Framing his father to absolve the maid. Zenith believes this, because why would a 5 year old lie about that. Zenith accepts Lilia into the family.
The series presents this course of events as 'for the greater good', because 'it saved a life'. The protagonist has this to say: "Okay, it should work out fine now. Now it's up to Paul's best efforts. Man, he's such a handful."
(Lilia dedicates her child to serve Lord Protagonist, because he "saved her life".)
