Urgent: Paralyzed stray cat in Laâyoune needs help. Vet care is $7/day + $80 fee. $47/$450 raised, remaining for X-rays & meds. Can't walk or soil on his own

Hello everyone,

I have recently rescued a stray cat in critical condition here in Laâyoune (Southern Morocco / Western Sahara) that urgently needs medical intervention. The mods have kindly approved this post specifically for this case so we can get an accurate diagnosis.

The cat’s condition is very difficult: he is currently paralyzed, cannot walk, and soils himself (defecates in place). He has been staying at the vet clinic for a week now, and Dr. Fatiha is doing incredible work to care for him every single day.

Here are the daily care details and costs breakdown:

Daily Vet Care ($7/day): Because he cannot move, the vet has to hand-feed him every day. She washes him entirely, dries him with a hairdryer to keep him clean, and administers daily injections for his muscles and nerves.

Vet's Service Fee: $80 for her professional care and dedication throughout this week.

The Remaining Funds: Will go directly towards the required X-rays (to check his spine/pelvis fracture) and his essential medications.

Location: Laâyoune

Total Goal: $450

Already Raised: $47

Remaining Amount Needed: $403

I have attached the required verification photo featuring the cat, the vet receipts, and a handwritten note with my Reddit username and date. I am fully committed to prioritizing this cat’s welfare and will keep working closely with the vet to ensure he is free from suffering.

Every little bit helps us cover these daily vet costs and get the necessary X-rays. Thank you so much for your kind support and generosity!

Urgent: Just rescued this sweet kitten in Laayoune (Western Sahara / Southern Morocco) with a severe tail injury, limping, and ear mange. Needing advice. 🐾💔

Hi everyone,

We just took in this fragile little kitten from the streets, and she is in really rough shape. She is facing multiple health issues all at once, and we are doing our absolute best to start her treatment immediately.

Here is what we are dealing with:

Severe Tail Injury & Limping: Her tail is completely raw, wounded, and missing fur. She is also limping on one of her hind legs. We are worried the injury might be from a car accident or an attack, which could mean nerve damage or a fractured pelvis.

Ear Mange & Infection: Her ears are heavily crusted and filled with wax/mange inside, which is causing her a lot of discomfort.

What we are doing right now:

We have started cleaning her wounds gently with a safe antiseptic solution and are cleaning her ears carefully. We are also preparing to get her the specific ointments and medications she needs, including an upcoming vet assessment to see if her tail will require amputation to prevent gangrene, and to get X-rays for her leg.

She is isolated in a warm, clean space right now. Despite the pain, she is being such a brave little fighter.

Has anyone dealt with a combined tail/leg injury like this in a kitten this small? Any advice on handling severe ear mange during wound recovery would be highly appreciated.

Thank you for your support and kind thoughts. We will keep you updated on her journey. 🙏❤️

Heartbreaking yet beautiful in Laayoune, South Morocco: A brave mother cat refuses to leave her injured kitten's side after a car accident. Help us reach our $350 medical goal ($47 raised so far) 🙏🐾

Hi everyone

Today, I witnessed a deeply moving moment of pure motherly love. I found a poor kitten on the street, injured from a car accident, and wanted to take it to rescue and care for it. However, its mother refused to leave its side. Every time I tried to get close to help, she would rush over, gently pick up her baby, and carry it away to hide safely under a car. It is truly amazing to see how much mercy, bravery, and protective instinct exist in a mother’s heart. Motherhood is a universal language that doesn't change, whether for humans or animals.

So far, we have raised $47 out of the $350 needed for the injured kitten's medical treatment.

From Heartbreak to a Mission: I buried my best street cat friend today, and I promise to never give up on building a safe haven for them.

Today, my heart is completely shattered. My favorite street cat, the brave soul who chose my doorstep as his home and was always there to comfort me when I was down, was hit by a speeding car and passed away.

I had to bury him today with my own hands, my eyes full of tears and my heart heavy with grief. Holding his gentle body for the last time broke something inside me, but it also ignited a fierce determination.

I am sharing his pictures here to honor his memory. He wasn't just a stray; he was my best friend.

Through this pain, I am making a solemn promise to him and to every helpless soul struggling on the streets: I will not give up. I will work harder than ever to achieve my ultimate dream—to build the biggest and safest shelter for stray cats, so they never have to face the dangers of the roads or the cruelty of the streets again.

Rest in peace, my little friend. Your legacy will save thousands of lives. 🐾💔

[HELP] Urgent: Hit-and-run rescue cat in Laayoune, South of Morocco needs life-saving surgery ($350 goal)

Hello everyone,

I am reaching out from Laayoune, in the South of Morocco (Moroccan Sahara), to share an urgent rescue case. This cat was recently a victim of a hit-and-run accident. He was struck by a car and is currently unable to move, suffering from internal bleeding in the blood vessels and stomach.

The veterinarian at "Cabinet Vétérinaire SAHARA" has ordered immediate X-rays to explore the cause of hindquarter paresis and swelling. The total medical costs, combined with a previous balance, amount to $350. Additionally, he requires specialized care and boarding at the clinic which costs $7 per day.

This cat appears to be a lost house pet and deserves a second chance at life. I am currently struggling to manage these costs alone.

Street life is incredibly harsh for kittens in Laayoune, Morocco. My dream is to give them a safe home

I wanted to share these beautiful souls I found in the streets of Laayoune, Southern Morocco. While they look adorable, their reality is heartbreaking. They struggle daily with hunger, the danger of traffic, and diseases that go untreated.

My sister and I have been doing our best to rescue and care for as many as we can as independent rescuers. It has always been my dream to establish a professional sanctuary called "Angel's Touch" right here in our region. I want to implement the same high standards of animal welfare seen in Europe and the US, providing these cats with a life free from pain and fear.

I truly believe that every life matters and that with patience and healing, even the weakest kitten can thrive. I won't give up on this dream until every street cat in Laayoune has a safe place to call home.

I would love to hear any advice or words of encouragement from this amazing community as we work towards making this shelter a reality

Update from Laayoune, Southern Morocco: Fighting Calicivirus and dreaming of building a safe haven for these souls

Hey everyone! Greetings from Laayoune, Southern Morocco.

I wanted to share a progress update on this little warrior battling Feline Calicivirus. It’s been a tough fight, but my sister and I are dedicated to his recovery, treating him 3 times a day (morning, evening, and night). As you can see, he is doing much better now!

Caring for him is part of a bigger dream: I hope to one day establish a formal animal shelter here in Laayoune. Currently, we do our best as independent rescuers, but a dedicated sanctuary is what these street cats truly need.

He still has some healing to do, but he’s getting stronger every day. Once he is 100% recovered, I will post a final update to show you his full transformation.

Thank you for following our journey! 🐾

The Road to Recovery: Fighting Feline Calicivirus in Laayoune, South of Morocco

Status: Progressing and showing strength!

Hi everyone

My sister and I are independent rescuers based in Laayoune, South of Morocco. We are currently caring for this brave little soul who is battling a severe case of Feline Calicivirus, which caused these painful facial ulcers. It’s a tough journey, but we are committed to helping him heal.

Our Treatment Routine:

Morning: Wound cleaning with antiseptic, applying antibiotic ointment, and oral medication.

Evening: Gentle cleaning of the area and re-applying the treatment.

Night: Final check-up, ensuring he is comfortable and well-fed with soft food.

He is a real fighter, and we can already see signs of improvement. We will continue to provide the best care possible and will share a "Fully Healed" update once he’s 100% recovered.

Thank you for all the support and healing vibes from Laayoune

Medical Advice Needed for Calicivirus - Laayoune, Morocco

Hi everyone,

I am caring for several stray kittens here in Laayoune, Morocco, and I need some medical advice to ensure I’m doing everything correctly for them.

The Situation:

Calicivirus Case: The vet confirmed one of the cats has a severe case of Calicivirus (not cancer, thankfully). We started injections and medication.

Vision Loss: I have another tiny kitten who is struggling with his sight, and we’ve started a treatment plan to try and save his vision.

Good News: One kitten I recently rescued has made a full recovery and has been officially adopted by a loving family!

My Questions for the Community:

For those who have dealt with severe Calicivirus, are there specific vitamins or supportive care tips that helped speed up recovery?

Are there any special environmental adjustments I should make for the kitten who is currently losing his vision to keep him safe?

I have personally covered the costs for their treatments so far to ensure they didn't have to wait for care. Since we don't have an animal shelter in our city, managing these cases is a challenge, but I won't give up on them.

Thank you for your medical advice and support!

Heartwarming Update from Southern Morocco city Laayoune: One Kitten Adopted & New Medical Journeys Begin

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share some incredible updates regarding the stray kittens I’ve been caring for here in Laayoune, Morocco.

Success Story: The kitten I recently rescued has made a full recovery and has been officially adopted! He found a wonderful forever home with a family who already has a cat of the same breed.

Medical Update (Calicivirus): Regarding the other cat, the vet confirmed it is not cancer, but a severe case of Calicivirus. We have started his treatment with injections and medication.

Saving Sight: We have also started a treatment plan for another tiny kitten to help him regain his vision.

Personal Commitment: To ensure they receive immediate care, I have taken out a loan to pay the veterinarian and purchase the necessary medications.

Our Philosophy: I believe every cat deserves a chance at life and care. Unlike what some suggest, we do not believe in euthanasia; we sacrifice everything for them and hold onto hope until the very last breath.

Managing these cases is a challenge as we still don’t have an animal shelter in our city. Every bit of progress counts.

Thank you for your support!

Urgent: Stray cat in Laayoune (South of Morocco) with a severe facial infection. My medicine has run out and I need advice on how to save her

"Hello everyone,

I am writing from Laayoune, South of Morocco. I need some urgent advice for this poor stray cat. She is usually very scared of people, but today she showed up at my door as if she was begging for help.

As you can see in the photos, she has a very deep and severe infection on her face. It looks like the flesh is being eaten away. I have been trying my best to treat her with the limited supplies I had, but my medicine has completely run out and I have no way to get more right now.

In my city, resources for stray animals are very limited. I am terrified because the infection seems to be spreading. I believe she needs a professional vet to debride the wound and prescribe strong antibiotics, or this will eventually kill her.

Has anyone dealt with a case this severe before? What can I do to stop the flesh from eroding further when I've run out of medicine? I am heartbroken seeing her in this much pain and feeling helpless.

Any advice or guidance from the community would mean the world to us."

"I found these newborn kittens abandoned on the street today. They were left in a very small box, so I replaced it with a larger, more comfortable one to give them a better home for now.

I couldn't find their mother anywhere. I’m really worried about them, especially with stray dogs at night or kids playing around. I wish there was an animal shelter in my city; I would have taken them there in a heartbeat. My dream is to one day open my own shelter to help kittens like these.

I’ll be checking on them every single day to make sure they are okay and to see if their mother eventually comes back for them. Please keep them in your thoughts

Hi everyone

I just came across this tiny kitten crying alone near my home. It breaks my heart to see him like this—both of his eyes are severely infected and swollen shut. He is very weak and clearly in pain.

I’ve brought him inside to keep him warm and started cleaning his eyes gently, but I know he needs professional veterinary care as soon as possible to save his sight.

I am a local rescuer and I will do my best to get him the help he deserves. I just wanted to share his story and ask for your prayers and "boosts" so more people can see him. I’ll keep you all updated on his journey and his first vet visit. 🐾🙏

The Story of Tiger (The Warrior):

Look at this cat; I call him Tiger. He is not just a cat; he is a survivor and a true warrior. Every day, Tiger comes to my doorstep seeking a meal and a moment of safety. His body is a living map of the hardships found on the streets—covered in scars that tell stories of the "wars" he fights daily for survival. In his weary eyes and tattered fur, you see the harsh reality of a life lived in the shadows. Tiger doesn't ask for pity; he only accepts the kindness offered to him, a brief respite from the constant struggle against hunger, cold, and fear.

The Vision: A Sanctuary for the Voiceless:

Witnessing Tiger’s resilience has ignited a fire within me. My ultimate dream is to establish the first formal animal shelter in my city—a sanctuary dedicated to every street cat that has nowhere else to go. I want to build a place where the "wars" finally end and the healing begins. I will not give up until every cat like Tiger can finally sleep in total peace and safety.

How You Can Help:

To make this dream a reality and to keep providing food and medical care for Tiger and many others, I need your support. Since I cannot post direct links here, please send me a Direct Message (DM) if you would like to help or support our mission.

Thank you for being part of Tiger's journey and for helping me build a future where no cat has to fight the "wars" of the street alone.

I wanted to share the happy news with everyone who followed his story. Today, the blind cat officially started his journey to the "You Can Save Me" shelter in Agadir! He has been vaccinated and is finally moving to a place where he can live safely forever.

The Journey:

It wasn’t easy, and it took everything we had to make this happen—from his kidney surgery to his final vaccinations and transport—but seeing him head toward a better life makes it all worth it.

Our Next Chapter:

While we are happy he is safe, this journey reminded my sister and me why we are working so hard to reach our ultimate goal: building the first dedicated cat shelter in our city, Laayoune (South of Morocco). We want to be able to provide this level of care right here in our own city so that no cat has to travel hundreds of miles for safety.

We are currently managing our local colony of street cats and dreaming of the day we can open our doors to every cat in need in the Sahara.

Thank you all for the support and for caring about him. He’s a special soul, and he’s finally going home!
