Slow fast charging rates

Just wondering if this is normal or something I should talk to the dealer about.

2026 equinox EV RS. 6200 km on the odometer.

When I go to a fast charger, I routinely get much less than the rated speed. I’m at a 100 kW charger right now, and the vehicle is only charging at 57 kW. This is pretty typical. Could something be wrong with my car?

Has anyone switched their bromine pool to salt or regular chlorine without draining?

I’ve heard that it’s not possible, and I’ve heard that it’s just as simple as switching to use chlorine. I already add liquid chlorine occasionally as shock and that shoots my bromine numbers through the roof.

I’m sick of dealing with expensive bromine. I’m finding it near impossible to keep a steady level in the pool. I’d rather just switch to salt and be done with it.

Threatened at the Tesla supercharger on walker road

Yesterday I was in Windsor and needed to charge my car before heading home. It looks like there aren’t really a lot of level 3 public chargers in Windsor, so like I’ve done a few times before I stopped at the Tesla charger on walker road.

For those who don’t know, Tesla chargers were originally designed only to charge teslas, which have the charging port on the drivers side rear. This means that if your charging port is somewhere else on your vehicle (front drivers side on mine), you have to block two spots. The cable simply isn’t long enough to charge otherwise.

Anyways, I pulled up and took two spots as I have many times. A guy in a Tesla cybertruck rolled down his window and told me that he had seen two guys at that location pop all 4 tires of a non-Tesla vehicle for blocking two spots. He then pulled out a knife and told me that they used a knife just like the one he had.

I reported this to Windsor police a couple hours later but I didn’t have much of a description of this guy other than white dude in a cybertruck. To be completely honest, I thought he was just showing me his cool knife. Apparently I have the survival skills of a potato. It wasn’t until I recounted this story to my wife that I realized why he was showing it to me.

Just thought id post here so people are aware. I’m going to continue to charge at that charger when I’m in town since I don’t really have a choice. But for other EV owners watch out for crazy dude in a cybertruck.

Pergola roof suggestions

I have a pergola that the previous owners installed. It sits over my patio and is attached to the house. Currently there isn’t really a roof. It’s got a bunch of 1x2 slats on top. Provides a bit of sun protection but not much. No rain protection.

I want to put a solid roof on it for more shade and rain protection.

My thought is just to get some metal roof panels, and put a couple of 1x2s closer to the house so that the roof is angled, and rain/snow melt goes away from the house.

Is this a bad idea? If so why? Anything else I should consider?

Any chance we get camp mode and one pedal driving in a software update?

I see the 2027 version will have these features. Doesn’t seem like there’s any reason why the 2025s can’t have them. Theoretically it would be possible to add via software.

Recently got into an EV, and I’ve found that both ChargePoint and Electrify Canada automatically keep a balance on your account and there doesn’t seem to be a way to change this. I can’t understand how this is legal for them to do.

I’ve already cancelled my ChargePoint and Electrify accounts because that’s the only way to get a refund. Imagine if gas stations had to keep a balance and an account just to get a receipt! It’s absurd.
