Finally built a PC after wanting to do so for so many years. Saved up enough after getting my first job… and then the rampocalypse happened 😑.
At least I bought my 5070 Ti that I was using in an eGPU earlier before prices rose on those also. (Haven’t installed it yet, wanted to make sure the rest of my PC worked.) Reused the Corsair RM750x from my eGPU setup too. My laptop originally had a 16GB stick and a 32GB stick. Both 5600MT/s with CL46. I moved the 32GB stick from my laptop to my PC and bought another used 32GB laptop SODIMM stick of the same specs. Now my laptop runs 16GB single channel so I still have a portable computer I can take around.
Compared to desktop sticks, laptop sticks are more affordable where I’m at. Each adapter costed me just 50CN¥ (about 7.5US$) so I spent 100CN¥/15US$ on the two adapters which seemed like a pretty nice trade off.
Task manager also knows I’m using laptop ram on my desktop. I was able to get the sticks running at their native speeds. I like to play around with locally hosted AI for anyone wondering why would I need 64GB.
Curious if anyone else who recently built a rig also resorted to using laptop ram?
Went to China a while back and got these standees during the KFC collab. Told myself I’d put them in a PC when I could afford to put together one in the future. Well that day finally came.
Had to replace the AIO liquid cooler because the radiator took up too much vertical space and I couldn’t fit the roommates in as a result. After removing the radiator I was able to fit the standees in with only a few mm to spare.
With the freed up space I put an ARGB light strip where the radiator used to be so that they can have their own rainbow lights for absolutely no reason 😏.
Replaced the AIO cooler with a low profile cooler. Unfortunately my 9700X (which is only a 65W CPU) reaches 96C when playing Genshin so I think I’ll need to get a cooler from a more reputable brand. I’m currently using the Snowman MC45-6 with my own thermal paste (Honeywell PTM7958-SP) instead of whatever thermal paste that came with the cooler. Planning to get the Thermalright AXP90-X47.

After removing the fan mounting brackets at the top I was able to squeeze them in with a few mm to spare 🎉.

Too bad I had to go for a low profile CPU cooler that makes my 9700X run hotter but at least it’s just a 65W CPU. Good thing I’m not running something like a 9800X3D.
Finally giving my mouse some love with a deep clean after it has served me very well through high school and uni. The switches have started double clicking and my scroll wheel has started locking up randomly. Doing a deep clean on it for the first time. Replacing the switches with silent ones afterwards. Wonder how long this mouse can last if I just keep replacing the switches.
Went on a trip to China and got these from KFC during the collab a while ago. Told myself I would put it in a PC I build someday in the future when I could afford one. I always see those nice PCs with decorations people build so I thought on top of a GPU would be a perfect place to put these roommates.
Ugh and I even spent more than I planned to get a liquid cooler so I could fit them on the GPU backplate. But I forgot about the radiator taking space too. Worried about a low profile one not providing enough cooling and clearance.
Edit: After removing the radiator it still wouldn’t work anyways. Case is too small 😞
They were so pretty 😭. Back during the Singapore concert, she dropped her vision walking past me but didn’t notice. When I handed it back to her, their voice when saying thanks caught me off guard. Had to do a two factor authentication cause I could not believe my eyes.

There have been some suspicious new accounts less than 1 month old posting art. They sourced the art appropriately but flaired it wrong as Media instead of Non-OC Art so I just fixed it for them and left the posts up I have taken said posts down after realizing they seem to be linked to each other and copying each other’s title formats and some posts exactly.
However, these rather new accounts also post a lot of other art in other subreddits within a short duration which makes it look like they are trying to farm karma on a new account to potentially sell it later. They don't seem like bots either, so those botbouncer Reddit bots won't be able to get them. Just a new account trying to get karma. Subreddits like ours are a gold mine for karma farming accounts due to any nice art with relevance to the character being upvoted.
I'm thinking about adding an automod filter rule that removes posts from accounts less than a month old and have less than 10 community karma.
Additionally, I'm planning to hold posts with the Media flair for review due to the common misuse of that flair.
I want to see if you guys have any suggestions before I go forward with implementing this.

You guys have spoken, and I'm proud to announce not a single comment in general support of AI content in my earlier post.
Fortunately this sub didn't really have an AI slop problem to begin with.
Anyone caught intentionally passing off AI slop as real art to farm karma will be banned. This has been added to the rules and can be found in the report options when reporting a post. And yes, your reports will actually be looked at now, I'll try to aim for a reponse time of within 24 hours. Same applies to modmail.
Otherwise, nothing much to change in this sub, except actually moderating it. Nice chill sub with low traffic and the occasional quality posts. One of the other mods seems to have returned so we should be alright in terms of moderation for now.
So I was able to finally get a user banned from my subreddit for breaking sub rules + scamming but the sub has been unmoderated for a while. I only recently got mod perms for the sub.
Can an admin help me outright ban them from the platform? Will doing that automatically remove all their posts and comments? Or will I need to individually go to each of their comments and remove it? Forgive me if this is a dumb question but I am new to moderating
This sub is now under new management as the other moderators are inactive or have no interest in moderating.
A big thank you to u/mr_swedishfish and their friend u/mahiru for helping out in getting me added to the mod team. Hopefully I'll be able to improve this sub moving forward. Still in a transitioning period as there are some things I can’t do yet in this sub due to the inactive top mod but hopefully I can get some stuff done soon.

There’s scammers still trying to sell that KFC collab stuff (such as Far_Draw_6847 ), art reposting bots, people who post without sauce. Feels like nothing is enforced here
