Grail Knight Musician!
Lovely model, It was fun to paint a knight with no helmet and as always had a lot of fun with the barding heraldry!

This was insanely fun to work on! This took me forever, but it was worth it.
The checker pattern was a slog but I'm really happy with how it looks! And I'm happy it halved it with the pure white sections, it really breaks it up and makes the overall composition less dark.

I've recently decided to open up a second front!
My word bearers are now hovering around 6000 points painted and I want to paint another legion for variety.
So the IV it is as I've always wanted to try my hand at them juicy Chevrons! Plus I like the idea of a really heavy and slow artillery heavy force.
Just 5 tactical marines for starters though!
Hello friends!
I have opinions on breacher shields!
I don't like how they are currently statted from a gameplay and lore perspective.
So, right now they confer a no modifier to armour and a five up invulnerable save.
I don't like this for one very simple reason, it doesn't make your legionaries any tougher against anything ap3 or less.
So if you spray a unit of breachers with 30 bolter shots, they'll die just as often as a unit who didn't lug around a giant shield all game!
Meanwhile, a lascannon, a weapon that's designed to absolutely decimate armour and punch through thick armour that can even disable super heavies and titans if yyour lucky! Gets stopped by a measly shield in 1 out of 3 shots.
Now, here's the scary part where I express an opinion on the internet...
I think they shouldn't confer any invulnerable save at all, and instead add a flat 2+ save.
Now they perform a lot better in standard firefights against similarly armed opponents yet still die to high tier anti tank weaponry.
I think this is an elegant solution to something that always bugged me.
Also, I was listening to the purge recently , and in that it's described that sor talgron uses a boarding shield and it had a shield on board... Which kind of scuppers this post. But it's not like gw hasn't had lore discrepancies before! And personally I really think that shields need to do something to help against more standard weapons...
And maybe it's ok, as there is the shieldwall reaction, but I think it shouldn't be locked behind a reaction, I think the effect of the shields should be baked into the statline and not as an invulnerable save, but again maybe I'm alone on this one.
But I will cautiously stand by my post, that I think boarding shields should be 2+ not 3+5++, for me it just works more elegantly as a rule.
(Pls no flaming, I am sharing an opinion and this is meant light heartedly not me saying "if you disagree you are stupid" haha)
Grail Knight Champion
This chap was a dream to paint, the pattern on the caparison was really hard but I'm really dang happy with the final result.
Overall a great learning experience 😸

They are done!!!
Absolutely adore this one, wasn't sure how they'd come out, like it constantly didn't look right as I was painting them, but the second the last few highlights went on it hit me and I was happy with how they came out.
Trust. The. Process.

Knight of the Realm musician!
Had fun getting adventurous with this chaps heraldry 💚♥️
Small conversion to make a horn blower out of the old monopose plastics, this is a man at arms command sprue horn and lower arm, glued to the bottom of the original arm and a knights Errant head (and helmet on his barding in case of archery!)
Overall fun to paint and a characterful lil model!

Converted a champion from the old monopose knights of the realm by adding a sword.
Really happy with this one, and they're in trans colours ☺️ as the artist (me) is trans haha, if you have a problem with that you can go kick rocks 😂
But really happy with how this one came out, as a lover of vibrant tones this one really does the trick 🩵🩷

Next old school knight for my Bretonnians!
He is accidentally the most English knight I could have painted haha, with the colours of St George and the lion Helmet and John Bull shield. Genuinely wasn't intentional, I literally only noticed half way through painting haha

Is lady Elise too good?
She's probably the best dispeller in the game, she is allowed 2 lore spells meaning you can take the +1 str and AP spell as well as regen guaranteed.
This basically makes her an auto take in most of my lists, which makes prophetesses kind of pointless to me, even without items they're not significantly cheaper and they don't guarantee her dispel prowess. They get more flexibility but I don't think they're ever going to be better value than Elise.
Does anyone else feel like this? Do you find yourself taking less prophetesses?
Back on my Bretonnians.
I love painting these, it's always so much fun.
The theme this this brave knight is he's a knight from Mousillon who stayed loyal to the crown and left the vampire corrupted lands. Fighting with his fellow knights and hoping to be able to force the vampires out of his homeland someday.

Ryza Sicarian Infiltrators.
I absolutely adore these models. I'm planning to take quite a few of them, as they're so awesome.
Really like how they've turned out In Ryza colours, especially the Princeps.
