WMUR has been seeing a large employee turnover lately, another meteorologist is leaving. These long time employees at WMUR are not retiring they are leaving to find a new job. WMUR is in the top 10 TV market in the country out of 210 that exist. Anybody that works at a news station has a dream of working in one of the top TV markets in the country.

What exactly could WMUR be doing wrong? I noticed years ago they shutdown there over the air tv translators across the state so now only people around Manchester can receive there OTA tv signal. Major satellite and cable companies in 2/3rds of the state have dropped WMUR because WMUR is not in there market as they are covered by the stations out of Portland Maine or Burlington Vermont. WMUR broadcasts from a weak low elevation high VHF transmitter that is highly susceptible to interference.

They have slowly been cutting back on how far they cover outside of south eastern NH. Big thing happens in Plymouth or Lebanon they may report on it a day late or not at all but even when a little story happens in Manchester they sometimes call it breaking news. If you go to facebook groups around Western NH and Northern NH people ask why they can’t watch WMUR on their tv package and why they can’t get it with an antenna like they used to. The answer is that WMUR is not found in most of NH’s market and since WMUR shutdown all of there translators more of the state can’t receive WMUR then what can.

The motto “nobody covers NH like we do” really makes no sense for this station anymore. Long time employees keep leaving, job openings galore at the news station, lackluster OTA coverage, and very lackluster coverage around the state on paid for TV packages.

Does this app have VLC Player in it? I tried using the app and a lot of my stuff glitches out and freezes the app but when I play it in something that has VLC it plays fine. Is there a setting to change it to VLC?

I’ve had a online discussion with someone who’s company is applying for LPTV stations around the country and they’ve let me know they have had talks with companies about what channels to carry and one of the companies was GAIM. So if you don’t have the station now you might in the future as they have applied for over 100 new LPTV stations so far mostly in markets without any GAIM stations.

I have 3 Apple TV devices a1625 and the Multiview app does not work on any of them. It used to work on the devices months ago but now it can’t even play a hd Homerun channel without freezing or stuttering. Was an update pushed that broke the app on older Apple devices? The app doesn’t seem to use a lot of internal power if you just watch 1 stream so I’m unsure why this app would be unusable on a older Apple TV that’s supported by all other apps. I only try to watch 1 stream at a time.

Just wondering what everyone’s furthest away channel they pick up on a regular basis is and how did you accomplish it?

I’ll start my furthest away channel is WPTZ from 81 miles away and I receive it with a Clearstream 4 max at 5ft elevation by doing knife edge refraction on this 3 edge signal. I use a Kitz 500 amp and 100ft of RG11 cable.

Update: I have held onto stronger signals today with my DB4E antenna and they were stable for an extended period of time in the wind and when the wind wasn’t blowing. I will try a Kitz 500 amp with this antenna in this position and I will also upgrade to a DB8E.

Looking for some info and tips on this phenomenon for OTA tv signals. I spent half the day today looking for a hot spot in my yard for some signals that are roughly 80 miles away and are 3edge signals. I managed to find a hot spot for all the signals I wanted by using my DB4E antenna and a 30DB amp from channel master.

I have to mount the antenna in the absolute lowest point in my yard and put the antenna on a 5ft pole and angle it slightly up. My Issue after finding this hot spot was that the signal becomes slightly weak but doesn’t completely drop out.

What are some tips and tricks I can do to make the signal stronger and more consistent by keeping the antenna in this location? I am willing to try a televes dat boss mix lr antenna as I already have one in storage or I am willing to upgrade to a DB8E antenna.

The signals I am picking up in this location via knife edge diffraction are WPTZ, WCAX, and WFFF.

Any new affiliates coming for this channel? The news and new affiliates for this channel seem to have become non existent lately. I would hate this channel to go the way PBJ did.

PBS Vermont is considering adding two new sub channels to there over the air broadcast that will cover the whole entire state of Vermont, Canada up into Montreal, Western NH, and Eastern NY. These channels are more obscure channels that are not found everywhere around the country but showcase high quality content with world news as well.

I keep seeing flock cameras in the news and know nothing about them or how to spot one. So I’m wondering if we have any in the upper valley? Is there a map?

I have an issue with my TV antenna that is on my roof shielded with RG6 quad cable solid copper wires with a Kitz 500 amp. I’ve been told if I was using a ham radio I would face the same issues so I have come here for help. Every time the hot water comes on or the heat all the tv channels pixelate like crazy for the whole entire time. My systems downstairs are pretty old and I cannot take them apart and install anything on them.

What is something I can do to stop this massive interference? It knocks out my strong signals and my weak signals on VHF and UHF. Where should I install a ferrite choke, should I use a Tripp lite EMF filter for the wall outlet? I’m at a loss as I have no idea if the interference signals are traveling way up above my roofline somehow or in my wiring in the house?

I’m going to install ferrite chokes 43 where needed, I’ll try a Tripp lite emf filter for the wall outlet, I’ll make sure to plug all my equipment into grounded outlets, I’ll ground my coaxial cable outside. Is there anything else I can try or am I just at a loss for ever using an antenna reliably here?

I found my 800 PS3 game collection from back when I played the console years ago. All are complete and in good shape. Are PS3 games worth anything or should I just sell them at a yard sale for a dollar like I did with my PS1 games?

Edit: Be on the lookout for some pictures in the future and I will go through them all soonish. Probably my vacation week. I didn’t realize some of these games were worth money. The bins are extra dusty.

I’m installing a new ground rod because my old one is no longer good and is inside the house rusted and all. What is the best way for me to ground my roof top antenna to the new rod? Also what’s the best way to ground the coaxial cable outside for electrical interference?
