Snagged the new Tovas

They’re quite nice, though I’ll probably need to wear thicker socks. I always order a 45, these feel just a tad more roomy than my others…

Any of you have the same experience of the Tracker Tova Mid being a bit large?

CB questions!

I was fortunate enough to hit the Honda demo yesterday, and was able to ride the CB650R and 1000 Hornet SP.

Even though the two (650 and Hornet), as far as ergonomics go, look very similar, for some reason I found the 1000 much more enjoyable to ride. I like the way the 650 looks more.

Of course the CB 1000 F was not available to test ride, but it’s absolutely beautiful and I’m wondering if it’s worth going through the loan approval application so I can take it for a spin.

Between these bikes, what are your favorites as far as economics and performance go?

I’m thinking of getting a Honda for the first time, as a Triumph guy this is a new realm for me.

2k miles on my brand new 400 X in 6 weeks

Commuting + joy rides = odometer lol.

LOVE THIS BIKE.

I’m only now, slightly, wishing I’d gotten the 900.

The 400 is fantastic for city, canyon, fire road. Only place it’s not ideal for is the freeway, and I knew that.

But now I have to move and my new commute will kind of require the freeway…

I guess I have to get a 2nd bike now 🤷🏽‍♂️

400 X @ Dusk - musings

Been riding out for a 90 minute ride before sunset, through the canyon roads between Topanga and Agoura Hills (CA).

I have to move in September, after having only been here since December, and having only had my bike since July.

Super grateful to have been blessed with these roads to learn, but I’m fkn sad to go. Really couldn’t ask for a better place to ride around LA.

Though perhaps, my new place in Eagle Rock will present some rides as nice as this one.

Got my first premium helmet

I’d been running a Biltwell Lane Splitter since I started riding, and had no idea what a difference going to a Shoei GT Air 3 would make.

I’d had my heart set on the RF 1400 Beaut cause it looks sick AF, but between the two, the GT is just way more comfortable and has the drop down visor, which is kind of essential for my evening commute home in the drastically varying light conditions of Topanga Canyon.

The GT Air legit feels like my head is in a car. Quiet, isolated, stable. Compared to the raw, light, wide-open feel of the Lane Splitter.

Is one better than the other as far as experience? Not sure… they are just totally different. I understand now why people have more than one helmet. Sometimes I want that raw feeling. But the GT Air is definitely an excellent, long-term, one helmet that covers all the bases.

So much better.

Removed the hand guards and stock mirrors, added bar end mirrors, leather grip tape, and quad lock mount.

Amazing how much more I enjoy riding like this - way cleaner fov, and I can see better in these mirrors.

Also, the leather grip tape fattens up the grip and reduces engine vibes in the hands.

Also, just looks way fkn cooler.

1st bike, what mods?

Just picked up this bad boy, so stoked. I’m going to remove the hand guards, switch out the mirrors for bar-end, and add auxiliary LED lights.

What else should I start saving for? Looking for insights from those of you that have this bike. I ride mainly for commuting and (mellow) canyon runs.

Test rode it and now need it

The only other Triumph I’ve been on is a Trident 660, which I love.

I want to get a smaller displacement bike though for saving on insurance, and I like the idea of being able to go a little bit off road.

This bike felt a bit soft at first, compared to the tighter suspension of the 660…

But after cruising around for a bit on it I really started to dig the more kush ride, and it shifts shorter with lots of punch.

And, I love that thumpy feeling of the single. Now I just need to figure out how to pay for it lol.

Living room > Studio

Tracking drums for a client today in my living room. I swear the drum sound in here is better than many of the multi-million dollar studios I’ve worked in.

Set up - DW Collector’s Maple (Keller shells era), Gretsch 125th Anniversary snare, Diril AD Ride/hats, Zildjian K Custom Session crashes.

An assortment of decent mics, Apollo X8 system with Millennia Pres.

My Reverb is stocked!

Many of you requested that I let you know when these cymbals were listed (and one snare, for now) so here you go!

I was recently entrusted with my stepdad’s extensive and boutique collection, to keep for my own or sell (major blessing, major responsibility, I know).

These are just a few cymbals that were either duplicates, or cymbals I didn’t see myself playing.

Everything has been meticulously kept, and much of it barely played. Here’s my verb -

https://reverb.com/shop/lees-gear-garage-1

My stepdad Leo worked a ton as a session and touring player in NYC throughout the 70s-90s, and he, admittedly, had kind of a gear-buying problem LOL.

I now own this collection, and am trying to decide what to do with the entire storage until full of amazing drum gear.

As a drummer myself, I feel a responsibility to cherish and make use of this collection, without just selling it off.

I’m debating focusing on drumming up (🤓) local and remote recording session work (I have a killer home studio and drum room at my place in LA), opening up a boutique rental service for cymbals and snares, or just choosing a reasonable selection to keep for myself and selling the rest.

Go check out the reverb, and I’m also curious what you guys would do in my situation!

How should I store all of these Cymbals?

I have like 15 cymbal sets, now that my stepdad has officially retired from drumming and bestowed his collection unto me (which, as a side note, is something I’m still processing).

He’s always kept them just like this in bags, leaning at as vertical of an angle as possible, with the cymbals nested from large to small in each bag.

I know this is not ideal, but I live in a small place and don’t necessarily have room to stack them flat.

What do you guys think? Is this ruining them? He’s kept them like this for 30 years + and they all seem fine, but I want to keep this cherished collection in the best shape I can.

M12s with the RL2 Liner

It’s like session 5 or 6 since I got the RL2, and it’s the holy grail of liners for the M12.

Absolutely worth it, much better than any other liner I’ve ever tried in this shell (Intuitions included).

If your M12s are too tight, def worth the upgrade. And no, I’m not a Roces salesman (though I’m thinking maybe I should be).

[SRPK99] Had to send it in for repair a month after buying, brand new.

Got my first Seiko and was super excited about it.

About a month later though, the power reserve would only hold about 3 hours off-wrist, even after wearing it all day, and I’m active.

Thankfully it’s under warranty and they’re fixing it… kind of put a bad taste in my mouth about Seiko though. For a $400 retail, I feel like this shouldn’t happen.

Any of you experience this before?
