New Venue!

Just bought a 2022 SEL this Friday! Absolutely loving it, especially after coming from something bigger. Gotta come up with a name now! (would love some suggestions! thinking maybe Franklin?) And maybe do a lil decorating on the inside, a bumper sticker or two, etc.

also - posted friday night about having some issues with the car initially, but they were all resolved it seems at the dealer under my 500mile/15day warranty and I picked it up yesterday, working good so far!

Bought a 2022 Hyundai Venue, having some issues already and not sure exactly what's wrong?

Just bought a used 2022 Hyundai Venue early this morning and by the end of the day am - of course, my luck - already having some issues. I've already called into the dealer and theyre going to take a look tomorrow morning first thing, but I'm paranoid and want to get a better idea of what exactly could be going on, so:

About every other time I park the car, typically after having driven it for more than 5 miles w/o doing more than idling @ a stoplight, the RPM Gauge slides almost all the way up and the engine revs until I turn the car off. If I turn the car back on again after it doesn't happen, if I havent driven too long it doesn't seem to happen - even when I sit in park for a while after the latter. The vehicle drives beautifully, shifts so smooth - better than my previous car which I already thought was good, and quick acceleration hasnt been a problem.

Other kinda milder concern that i'm more familiar with - A/C is blowing like,, cool/lukewarm. I figure it may need a flush or recharge, but could be a leak in the system? When I turn the a/c on from having been off (while in park) it makes a low/mild noise, kinda hard to describe, idk like between a tin-sounding rain stick and the sound those electric cars make nowadays. The sound completely disappears when I turn the a/c off and also when the a/c is ON but I am actively driving. it doesn't get quieter, it's just not there anymore.

I'm sure its not impossible that the two things could be connected but i'm only mildly knowledgeable about cars tbh. Let me know what you think it sounds like.

Other general things -- temp of car is showing stable, not overheating or anything. gas tank is half full and mpg is still incredible (upper 20s to lower 30s w/ mostly city driving today). It's a high on miles for the year model, but no other distinct red flags in the carfax or anything.

2000 Forrester - decent buy?

Looking at getting a Forrester and love to older year model look more than the newer one and found this one in also my favorite color on the older suvs. Doesn't have much in the way of reported maintenance, but seems like it was consistently driven and not too many miles put on.

Do we think it could last me another 100k as long as I maintain it great (w/ the idea in mind that a pre-purchase inspection goes well)? Or is something this old gonna need expensive repairs pretty soon/frequent...

Totally open to recommendations! Also keeping an eye out for any pre-2013 ish range too, not too biased towards the 1st Gen- though I do love the look (int&ext) loads more. Thx!

edit: to say i think I labled this as the wrong type of post and can't figure out how to change it - so sorry!! new to reddit 😭

Wanna purchase a used 2015 c, but i think it needs a new hybrid battery

I found a 2015 Used Prius C three that I really like BUT after test driving it (and talking with some family who work on cars for a living) I'm pretty sure it's going to need a new hybrid battery.

It's at about 102.5k miles and rides really well on both eco and standard mode (might need brakes too but thats irrelevant to this specific question) But from what I've read - its around the timing that it would need the battery replaced or rebuilt - plus the car did have an alert that battery was getting/was low.

So!

Question is - if I can negotiate the price down so I can afford to get the battery replaced/rebuilt, is it safe to assume that with good and approriate upkeep that it would last me another 100k-200k miles? And is a good rebuild (or cell replacement or whatever it is - im not super hybrid-smart) a smart/decent alternative getting a replacement if the replacement is out of my budget?

I'm planning on trading in or selling my current vehicle (est ~8k-11k value) and have ~2-3k more in savings i can dip into if I absolutely have to - but I don't want to go through all this trouble if its likely that the battery fix won't solve the problem long-term.. The car is listed at 9500$ which is way too much imo if it need battery work + brakes - but im happy to negotiate/argue the price down - just not sure what all feels reasonable in this situation. Should I just wait and find another car 😅

Wanna buy a used MINI Cooper Countryman? Bad Idea?

I've been shopping around for a new (to me) car to replace my current 2018 Ford Edge Titanium and really want something on the smaller side - but not quite standard-sedan. I used to have a 2011 Ford Escape and loved that year+model combo a lot, big fan of the slightly boxier feel SUVs. Used to spend a lot of time looking at Honda CRVs, particularly the older models (like pre 2012 ish) but since coming across a lot of the MINI Coop Countrymans online and in person too I really love the look, size, shape and vibe of it

Don't get me wrong I know coops can be unreliable, especially 2nd Gen ones, but i'm prepared to stay on top of oil changes and maintenance check-ins as needed - no matter what car I end up with. One of my main complaints with the Edge I've got now is the milage. I do mostly city driving and it always sits at about 19mpg and I dont want to get anything to replace it that won't get me a solid 22 (ideally closer to 25 if possible, yes I know thats high for an suv).

I guess the generally question/advice is, would a 2013-2016 mini w/ 90k-120k miles but w/ good maintenance records be a reasonable thing to go for? Or am I insane?

KBB trade in for my Edge is ranging $7k-8k, and I'd love to pay as close to nothing out of pocket for my next vehicle as possible. I have the funds to keep a car maintained well, just not to fish out an extra 2-4k for a replacement. Mostly trying to save on gas, and have something that'll fit in parking spots better than my mini-tank im saddled w/ at the moment. Would looking into something like a Kia soul be a better alternative?
