EA day one player, what's your though about how's the game now ?
Been playing the game since literally day one. Early Access was incredible: the matchmaking was insane, the people were soooo cool. I could finally have the time of my life with a horror game without having to fight against some cringe player tunneling you AND it was set in the Outlast universe. What an absolute banger it was for me.
And now here we are, 3 years later. For those of you who were there back then too, what do you think about the current state of the game?
For me, if we put aside some of the perk reworks (that healing one at the beginning, my god, it was so good), the game has changed so much, and mostly for the better.
One of the main things I kept talking about back then was how many maps they were going to add. For me, that's probably the most important thing about the game. You can do whatever you want, add modifiers, new mechanics and all that stuff, but having more and more maps is what keeps people playing imo. Having enough different places to choose from makes the game feel way less repetitive.
And what about now? So many maps. Way more than I could've expected. These guys are crazy.
And the further we go, the worse it gets in terms of pain, fucked-up behavior and pure brutality and I mean that in the best way possible. They genuinely don't seem to have any limits, and it's so damn cool to see a video game go this far into body horror, dismemberment and all that fucked-up stuff without being heavily censored.
My only regret: time has passed, and there aren't that many people I used to see around anymore.
I'm the kind of guy who almost always plays with randoms, and it has definitely become harder and takes longer to find people to play with. Kinda unfortunate imo.
