Thanks everyone in advance.

See you tomorrow :)

Looking For Cybersecurity Experts

Hello everyone,

I’m an app developer not a Cybersecurity specialist.

I know how to make my apps secure by hashing passwords, preventing SQL injections etc. So the basics. But I want to learn more about ethical hacking so when I move to more important apps with really personal info I know how to protect them.

I’ve been looking online for all kinds of sources to learn from. W3Schools, AI, TryToHackMe etc. but they’re either paid (I’m not so invested to pay yet) or I just don’t learn much from it.

Where did you learn about cybersecurity and how do you actually apply it in the real world?

Thanks everyone for the responses in advance :)

Ps. If you need any additional info about what I do the respond to me, feel free to ask. Dm is fine too.

Building Notch (Stupid Simple Workout Tracker) Day 5 & 6

Yesterday I haven't posted about Notch because I was completely rewriting CSS. Wasn't even nearly finished so I had nothing to show you.

Today I finished rewriting CSS for the existing pages (log in, sign up, dashboard), so I would appreciate any opinions, critiques etc. Everything is welcome.

The app is still not on GitHub. I'm planning on putting it up when the UI shell is done. You'll be able to check it out then. I have 2 pages left to create (statistics and settings) so max a couple of days, depending on how long my work shifts will be and how much time I'll have to actually work on this app.

Like I said for today I would just like some opinions on the CSS of the existing pages and any other critiques or opinions you have about the app so far. (Images are attached to this post).

Thanks to anyone comment and thanks everyone for the support so far.

See you tomorrow :)

How long do you guys need to build your apps to production level?

I work 10h+ shifts almost everyday of the week so I have max 1h a day to work on my apps. I could skip the gym for an extra hour but I don’t want to do that.

I am super against AI just completely taking over your project and writing most of the code because I have no clue how to fix something if a bug comes up. So I write 98% of my code alone.

I feel like I’m progressing super slowly so I’d like to hear from anyone else how long it takes you.

My process is:

  1. Design in Figma

  2. Make UI shell

  3. Starting to advertise

  4. Connect to database and set everything up

  5. Testing and security checks

  6. Publish and put all my time into advertising

Is publishing to the App Store necessary?

Genuinely interested if publishing to the App Store is necessary.

What if you just make a PWA (Progressive Web App) and let people use it.

Think about it… No download, just a couple clicks, works the same way, looks the same way etc.

What’re your thoughts on this?

Building Notch (Free Stupid Simple Workout Tracker) Day 4

Yesterday I finished the design so today I started coding.

Made the log in, sign up and dashboard page. I decided on using React since this will be a web app you can save to your home screen for now (PWA).

Also quickly threw together some CSS but a lot of improvements need to be made to it. Couldn't finish it completely since I ran out of time.

Tomorrow I will push this to GitHub but for now no one can see it yet.

I would like some opinions, critiques etc. on the current app. If you want to see the full designs check it out from my previous posts. Today just some added images of pages I coded on this post.

Thanks everyone for any comments, upvotes, support etc. It means a ton.

See you tomorrow :)

Building Notch (Stupid Simple Workout Tracker) Day 3

Day 2 is missing on my profile because the post got removed. No idea why but ok.

Just to quickly recap day 2:

  1. Designed the dashboard (starting page when you log in)
  2. Designed the workout templates page

Images for both are also attached to this post. Btw for anyone wondering I am using Figma to design any project I am planning on building. I just find it really simple to use but it's also advanced enough to design complex parts.

Okay now onto day 3:

I designed the last 2 pages of the app. Statistics and settings. I had some issues with how I'm going to make statistics simple and also fit on a phone without you needing to scroll for 5 minutes on the page. I believe I now have what I was going for but if you see any improvements that could be made please tell me.

Didn't have much issues with settings but for now I don't really know if settings need another part for configuring the program. Might add dark mode later... What do you think?

Like always any advice, opinion, criticism is welcome from anyone. It helps me make the app better for everyone.

Images of all the designs is attached to this post.

Thanks for any feedback in advance :)

Building a Free Stupid Simple Workout Tracker Without AI (Day 1)

I've had an idea to build a stupid simple workout tracker called Notch because I got fed up with all these EXP and rank based gym apps lately. My frustration got me the idea of building it but further research on Reddit confirmed that many people also have the same frustration.

After I confirmed people actually need this I started with the design today. I have at most like 1 hour a day to build this app because I work 10+ hour shifts and also go to the gym myself so it's hard to find the time.

This is also the second app I'm building and the first one I actually did some research on so hopefully I get at least a couple of users. Especially by the fact that it's going to be free.

I'm going to be posting here on Reddit and on X about my journey from today all the way to the finished app including how I market it etc. so wish me luck.

Any feedback from anyone about the app is welcome especially if something is bad about it. So today I would like some opinions on the log in and sign up page. I tried to make them as simple as possible and also designed a logo myself. (The images are added on this post).

Thanks to anyone for an opinion. See you tomorrow :)

Which workout tracking app to use?

I’ve been tracking my workout in my Notes for the past couple years but I’m getting kinda tired of it.

Like yea I change the reps when I get more or less but at the end of the week I have no clue if I improved or not.

That’s why I decided to use an app but after 2 days of searching for a good one I quit because they are all paid or just over complicated imo.

What apps do you guys use to track your workouts?

And what’s the biggest pain point you wish wouldn’t be there?

I almost threw my computer out the window🤦‍♂️

I was coding my settings page and fields weren’t updating in my Supabase backend when changed.

Figured you need AN UPDATE RLS POLICY TO UPDATE FIELDS. Duh

I might be retarded but to anyone coding, this might save you some time one day…

Day 12 building my first app as an IT student

Today I got a lot of work done.

I finished the calendar and logging work hours functionalities and connected them.

For now they only store data locally but I will move to Supabase soon.

I also started on the settings page but didn’t get far.

Any advice on if I should use AI to help me code or should I do everything myself?

Thanks.

Day 8 building my first app as an IT student

I had a 12h shift so all I did was that and hit the gym. No app progress made unfortunately.

How do you guys handle busy days like that?

🚨Question: How do you preserve energy so you still have it after a long shift to work on your projects?

I work 8-15h shifts everyday. I am also building my first app and sharing it in public and going to the gym everyday.

How do I conserve energy so I have any left to work on my app etc.

Thanks.

Day 7 building my first app as an IT student

I restored the previous version of the app with Git because I wanted to rewrite backend code.

Almost finished the Sign Up page (again🤦‍♂️)

Then I had a long shift and came home something past midnight that’s the reason for the posting delay.
