NC1 Body Kits?

NC1 Body Kits?

I'm looking for body kit options for my NC1. I'm really looking for something like the KBD kits for NA/NB cars, but having a hard time finding anything. I want flexible skirts and lips that would hold up to scraping when necessary and track use.

Really looking to achieve a lower stance without dropping the suspension further.

Any recommendations for sourcing a kit like this? Thanks!

What does an ideal suspension setup look like?

Curious on everyone's thoughts on ideal setup suspension wise for drifting.

I personally enjoy the look of my car being as low as possible, but also know there's risks involved with that (I already baconed my fender bottoming out off track)

My plan is to go to something like BC extreme low coilovers to achieve the same ride height but with a stiffer spring setup to avoid bottoming out.

I have a Miata for reference. What downsides might I see from running 8-10k springs all around and dumping it to the ground? I'd hate to have to raise it just for the off chance I run off track and need extra clearance to avoid busting my fenders up.

Any wisdom is appreciated

Anyone running BC Racing Extreme Low coilovers?

Hi gang,

I'm on the hunt for a new set of coilovers to replace my aging MeisterR set. They still do the job, but my biggest complaint is lack of further lowering on the rear.

I have the collars completely maxed out and still can't seem to tuck my rear tire into the fender.

I'm looking at BC BR series with the extreme low option, which offers a shorter coilover body from what I understand.

I'm curious if anyone is running these on their NC and what their experiences are. I'm after "flush" or slightly tucked fitment, specifically with a 16in wheel and 205/50 tire.

If my MeisterR went just 0.5" lower on the rear I would be satisfied.

Which Turbo Kit?

I've decided I'm going to go turbo on my NC1 once budget allows.

I've initially looked at the Fab9 kit and heard things about the Flying miata kit as well. I'm looking for feedback from other turbo NC owners on their setups, especially the tuning side, and how they perform.

Im planning a clutch upgrade and bigger injectors for sure, but I'm not sure if a fuel pump is necessary and if so which one to go with. I'm shooting for 220-250whp at the end of the day, with the goal of being semi reliable for a year at least while I prep a 2.5 to go in.

Any input is appreciated, and feedback on what a realistic power goal would be for an unopened 2.0

Thanks!

Convertible top function

Hi

I'm working on troubleshooting a malfunctioning convertible top. The top opens part ways then stops. Afaik it worked before recently, and stopped functioning in time with the power driver seat stopped working.

I'm wondering if the driver seat motor is related to the top function. Thanks

Common Carp PNW - invasive?

Hey all,

Hoping some anglers from the PNW (oregon specifically) can chime in here. I fish a pond local to me that is FULL of common carp. I've caught many in the 6-10lb range, with only a few bass here and there.

I'm curious if these fish are taking over the habitat in the pond, and if I should be releasing them back to the pond. I've heard other species of carp are invasive here, though I've not read much about the common carp.

I'd like to think all these carp are making it impossible to catch any other fish (never caught a pan fish here either).

Only have confidence with cast and retrieve?

Hey all,

I've caught a decent amount of bass, however I've only ever caught them on spinner baits and top water lures. I go most days and get skunked, so I'm feeling like my lure choice isn't ideal for the ponds I fish.

I've never had luck the couple times Ive tried a wacky rig, and just don't have much confidence with finesse baits in general. Any suggestions for how to get over this or methods to try after spinner baits?

For reference im bank fishing local ponds in the West Coast, I've been going for carp with lots of success recently but bass are a struggle.

Any tips are appreciated.

PSA about Power plant frame and drivetrain whine

If you ever need to remove the Power Plant Frame (PPF), such as when removing the differential or driveshaft, mark the locations of the bolts and bracket before disassembly. It is also critical to support the transmission with a floor jack so the alignment between the transmission and differential is maintained.

I failed to do this and reassembled the PPF with the transmission unsupported. This caused excessive pinion wear/noise from the differential and input shaft. I noticed a clear whine from the rear end during deceleration, along with excessive noise when releasing the clutch in neutral.

What fixed it for me:

I jacked the transmission up about 1–2 inches and retorqued the PPF bolts in the order specified in the Haynes manual:

Differential side first

Transmission side second

After doing this, the gear whine completely disappeared. The noise I thought was coming from the throw-out bearing in neutral also went away.

I was worried my differential was toast, but it turned out to be a PPF alignment issue.

This may apply to all Miata generations, but for reference, I have an NC.

Hope this helps someone. Thanks everyone!

Automatic differential CV axle seals part numbers?

Hi all, I'm looking for the part number for the outside CV axle seal all the differential on the 2006 NC I believe the diff is from an automatic variant. All the seals have gotten from parts stores are wrong too big. If anybody can find an aftermarket number for one I would appreciate it

Update, found precision seal # 710139 to be correct.

PPF Alignment - pinion noise

Hi NC gang,

Recently developed a fairly substantial whine from what I believe is the rear diff during deceleration, mostly under 25mph. I had previously removed the rear diff without knowing the importance of marking the position of the PPF mounts to the carrier and body. I believe I may have reassembled it out of alignment, causing excessive wear on the pinion.

How does one go about realigning the PPF and diff when it's been removed?

This is all theory, but it's my best guess. The noise goes away when the clutch is engaged and it seems to be speed-consistent not gear-dependent. I have ~3000 miles since the diff swap. Any knowledge or thoughts are appreciated!

Bride Vios 3 mounted

Bride Vios 3 mounted on a sparco seat bracket for the NC. Minor contact with door panel with door closed, not enough to worry about adjusting. Sparco bracket required a couple of holes drilled to fit the L brackets included with this seat. Happy with the result, figured this may be useful for others looking to install a bucket in their NC.
