Parking for the fine arts festival?

Debating on whether to take the free shuttle downtown, or park a few blocks away in a garage or lot. Has anybody been to the festival this weekend and scoped out the parking situation?

Who gives a REALLY good haircut?

I'm thinking of chopping off my hair that comes about midway down my back. Probably shoulder length bob with some face framing layers. I have very straight hair that shows every blunt cut. It seems everybody focuses on color instead of a really quality cut. Who do you recommend for a good cut?

Do you tell your child that you like them?

Context: My toddler and I were at the zoo yesterday in the play area. She was being really fun and silly so I scooped her up and told her that I love her AND I like her. A dad there commented that it's hard to like kids sometimes and it was cute that I told my girl that I liked her. It made me wonder if other parents tell their kids that they like them.

I make a point to tell my girl that I love her and I like her pretty regularly. It's usually some variation of "I looove you, and I really like being your mama" or "I love you so much and I really like you." I also tell her how much I enjoy spending time with her. The unconditional love part is easy, but the liking part is definitely harder on some days. Do you tell your kid that you like them?

What are we doing about solicitors?

I have a no soliciting sign on my door, but it deters literally nobody. I'm so tired of these people ignoring my no soliciting signs, setting my very nervous dog off in a barking fit, sometimes waking up my toddler from her nap like today… Which is obnoxious.

Today I lost my cool, because people from Glide Window Cleaning knocked on my door. Normally I would've ignored it, as usual, except they had spoken to my neighbor approximately 45 seconds prior. She also has a no soliciting sign, which they ignored. She chewed them out and specifically told them not to knock on my door because I was tired of solicitors as well (and she knows my toddler's nap schedule). These two men from Glide walked across the yard and immediately knocked on my door. They spoke to her at 11:32am, and knocked on my door at 11:33. I asked them if they had a solicitors license, which they didn't, and were completely clueless that Denver and Lakewood require one. Again, I really wouldn't care all that much, except they were specifically warned not to knock on my specific door by my direct next-door neighbor who knew my kid was going down for a nap. I'm finally at my wits end. They seriously can't be getting enough business from knocking on random doors to keep this up, right? Who in their right mind is hiring people who knock on their door?

So what are we doing to stop solicitors? Motion activated sprinklers? Elmers glue and confetti? Anything to get these people to stop knocking on my door. It's rare for me to go 24 hours without having a solicitor ignore my sign. I'm tired of having naps interrupted and ruining the rest of the day!

Also... don't hire Glide Window Cleaning. Their employees are little assholes.

Grubs in raised garden beds

One of my raised beds has a pretty significant grub issue. Pretty sure they are beetle larvae. I have pets and a young child so pesticides are a no-go. Are beneficial nematodes my best option? Are there any risks to introducing them to my garden/yard? Is there anywhere local that sells beneficial nematodes? Help... my poor pepper plants are suffering!

Silly request: anybody not want their free Hawaiian shirt?

Dating and when to have somebody over?

So I'm (38f) a single mom , and have my toddler daughter the majority of the time. On the nights I don't have her, I've been dabbling in dating. I've been very up front about my limited schedule and parenting responsibilities. I've had a few men try to pressure me into having them over rather quickly, which I immediately shut down and didn't go out with them again. I don't intend on introducing my daughter to anybody until I've been with them for probably a year or more. But when do I let somebody into my home for a date night in? I feel like that's my daughter's space and feel very protective of it. I own my home so it's not like I can up and move if I end up with a crazy person on my hands. Those women with children, when did you start letting somebody come over when your child was with your coparent?

Where to get seed potatoes?

I'm trying to teach my daughter where her food comes from, mostly in an effort to show her why it's important not to waste food. Managed to track down all the other herbs and veggies I want to grow, but haven't found good seed potatoes. I checked O'Tooles, but their selection was relatively picked over and I didn't see any Yukon gold. Is there anywhere locally that I could source Yukon gold seed potatoes? Thank you!

Is it normal for coparent to go 7+ days without video chat or checking in?

I want to check my gut on this because I genuinely don't know if this is normal. My ex and I share a 2.5 year old daughter. I have her the majority of the time (basically a stay at home mom), and with his work travel and/or holidays he often goes 7-8 days without seeing her. He doesn't check in to see how she's doing, and doesn't call or FaceTime her (she loves to FaceTime literally anybody). I used to send regular updates to him, but our coparenting relationship soured in December. In an effort to keep my life as separate (read private) as possible, I stopped sending the daily photos and videos. He didn't seem to notice, and he now goes days on end without knowing how she's doing. I always exercise my right to FaceTime her on the nights she's away, so I can't fathom going days without seeing her smiling face. She loves to chat about her day, show me her stuffed animals, and asks to see our dog. Is it normal for a parent to go a week or more without asking how their toddler is doing, or scheduling a call/Facetime? My heart hurts for her because she asks about him, and I've tried many times to encourage him to FaceTime... and he just never does.
