Professor’s Death Leaves Behind Hard Questions for Cambridge on Race and Hiring
I apologize for not knowing how to post a paywall free version. Maybe somebody else can do it. EDIT: someone provided that information in the first comment. Thank you, added: Here is the link to the paywall free article.
That said, I'm pleasantly surprised and impressed with this article's deep dive and scrutiny of Jason and his enablers in a way that is very unusual for the NYT. In their last article about this they spent more time scrutinizing the person who brought his fabrications to the public eye then the professor or those who defended him despite the obvious red flags. It's odd though that it took five journalists to write it.
Two New York Times articles from today.
One claims that the person who outed Jason Arday was "known for work suggesting that black people were genetically predisposed to be less intelligent than white people." I do not know enough about this person to say whether this summary is accurate.
But then there's an article about Palestinian rappers and it mentions Mia Khalifa as "a former adult film star turned influencer and political activist". No mention of her requests that the terrorists which she refer to as freedom fighters shoot from different angles during their October 7th massacre as it was happening. She has made many other comments that are also pretty racist.
I realize these are two different journalists. But it's the same newspaper. There should be a policy on whether or not it is ok to bring up derogatory things about somebody in cases where there is not an obvious relevancy.
If the accusations against Arday were possibly false, it would be relevant if the person who made those allegations had a history of anti-black racism. But since the accusation seem true, the character of the person who brought it to light isn't really relevant.
I've noticed this often with the New York Times where are they find the need to report on some negative things about an individual that aren't exactly relevant to that moment depending on their own biases. Like an actor who has a history of saying offensive things. They are more likely to bring it up if it's Mel Gibson than if it's Alex Baldwin. They mentioned on many occasions that Trump refused to condemn the neo-nazis at the Charlottesville Unite the Right protest during his first term even though this was untrue. But Mamdani refused to condemn "globalize the antifada", and it was quickly dismissed as irrelevant. Ditto for his enthusiasm for attending the Pakistani Day Parade versus his unwillingness to attend the Israeli Day parade.
Local activist compares the MHA to 9/11, the Holocaust, Trail of Tears. The MHA is a city policy requiring new developers to either include a % of income-restricted affordable housing units on-site or pay a financial contribution to the city's affordable housing fund.
Before you ask why I am posting this: ignorant and insane attitudes like this are routine for those who speak at public comment during City Council meetings, activist organizations, etc. They do get the ear of the decision makers in the city.
More Marsha P. Johnson
I wanted to share this with anybody who was interested in this topic and had not seen this. To begin with, as you can see in this interview they are not trying to present as a woman.
Also when they are asked about Stonewall they kind of hesitantly say they were there and when going into detail speaks completely as an observer not a participant. There is a vagueness too much of their recollections that might just speak of a hazy memory . Or might speak of somebody who's involvement was far more minimal than they were given credit for. But this is not the only record where they contradict the narrative of being the leader of Stonewall.
From the parts of the video I watched, my impression was somebody who had a lot of qualities projected onto them that they did not necessarily have. There's something very uncomfortable in some of the answers where it feels they are kind of telling the interviewer what they want to hear and I don't feel very confident of the truthfulness. Your thoughts?

pacificlegal.orgApparently Seattle is getting a second Black Panther Party mural
This is located on the corner of Rainier and MLK Jr boulevard. At first I thought it was related to the one that became it historical landmark two months ago. That's in the Central District. In addition to these two murals, in the last 6 months Black Panther Party Park was opened in Skyway, Black Panther Party information center was opened in Pioneer Square, and 900k was earmarked in this year's budget to open up Black Panther Party Museum in the house that Aaron and Elmer Dixon grew up in.
Family starts fundraiser for one of the gunmen involved in the Bite of Seattle shooting. Claim he was "senselessly killed in cold blood".
Apparently the shooter was one of eight kids. The father died the same night his son was involved with the shootout.
Note that not only is there no acknowledgment of the other two people killed in that incident. Unlike our mayor who gave regards to all three people including their family member who caused it.
District 2 KC Council candidate Grace Hasegawa still supports zero youth detention and working towards the same for adults.
I'm not sure when this video was taken, but it was uploaded to her IG page today.
As a side note, her dad is state senator Bob Hasegawa. She is currently a Port of Seattle commissioner.
In 2020 Community Passageways CEO Dominique Davis bragged about getting youth with serious gun related charges released to community. Today KUOW states at least shooter was a client of his organization
A few days ago somebody posted a video that shows the CEO of Community Passageways bragging about getting sentences reduced for serious gun violence along with getting juveniles who are charged with serious gun violence released "to community". Today he told KUOW that one of the shooters was a client of his organization.
Community Passageways has gotten $51 million of taxpayer money in the last 5 years
Relatives of Junior Cee Niko Semo. Semo is believed to be the main perpetrator of the shooting at Bite of Seattle that killed three, including himself.
I think this is AI because of thevcamera angles, scenery not changing, audio, etc.
instagram.comHas anyone else noticed the increase in hysteria around anti black hate crimes that didn't actually happen?
It feels like 2020 is creeping in again. Two incidences that the media, politicians and activists frame with the same ominous tone they did Trayvon Martin.
One involves a young black woman who was on the train in DC with a large group of white, masked, far right activists around the 4th of July. Nothing happened.
The second is the incident this woman describes in her IG posts. There is no substantial evidence of foul play, and no evidence whatsoever of racism towards the young man who died. (I didn't include all the screenshots because it's a pretty long thread and you can find it yourself if you really want to.)
I'm starting to believe that it's not external events that caused this pattern of hysteria but born of internal issues that those inciting this are externalizing.
Note: this is relevant to BaR because it touches on the pattern of social media driven hysteria about racism and hate crimes that do not necessarily seem objectively true. It also touches on the "white woman bad" mentality that is very prevalent among racial Justice activists.
Education Department rescinds disparate impact rule, a key tool used to assess school discrimination
I included a link to an article that included full text. The Seattle Times is also is running the same AP article.
2013 Marin hybrid rear brake boss chipped
I was unable to get it off although it does look like that is possible. I showed a picture to my repair shop and they were just doubtful they would be able to do anything. I am unable to screw in the bolt that keeps the caliper in place as it currently is. Any suggestions to make this work would be appreciated. Thank you
R/SeattleWA quiz nite. Read the quote below. Guess who posted it. No cheating!
"I’ve been thinking a lot about the World Cup. I see all the posts of people celebrating it and it’s alleged multiculturalism. Where I am struggling is how much of a cover up, or in the least a distraction, it is from the suffering, oppression and fascism that these “global powers” (nation states, corporations, politicians, etc) are creating. These conditions do not exist in a vacuum.
While yes people are coming together and multiculturalism is present, I have to ask myself who isn’t present, who can’t show up fully or at all, and why? Why is this massive coming together not leveraged to pressure those in power globally to honor the human dignity of all peoples? Is it really multicultural if some are systemically denied access because of who they are? While those who have committed the most grotesque violations against humanity and the planet not only have their teams present but are likely making money.
I get it. Some people say, “Everything isn’t political. Can’t futbol just be futbol?” I wish futbol could just be futbol, but so long as humans continue to design systems that target and oppress and continue to act in ways that deny some people their human dignity and so long as genocides are happening globally and as long profit comes first over people and planet… yes, everything, including futbol, is political.
If you run a massive global institution that has power, you have a responsibility to be operating in a manner that honors all human dignity and the health of the planet first and foremost.
We are all responsible within our sphere of influence and impact."
