Am I burnout, or does my job actually sound kind of draining?

I started working as a copywriter for a (very) small web design firm about a year ago. We help high-end artists rebrand and create beautiful and optimized new websites. Our projects typically include new logos, site design and functionality, and complete copy overhauls.

In addition to copywriting, I’m also responsible for our client discovery process, and then presenting creative work on a weekly basis to each client. About half my day is writing, and the other half is explaining to people why my company is proposing specific SEO, UX, or creative strategies.

I really like this industry niche but I’m just so tired, man. I have to track all my time even though I’m a salary employee and I’m expected to utilize 7 hours per day.

In a year’s time, I’ve written like….15 websites top to bottom. I’m supposed to be able to finish ALL of a website’s copy in about 4 hours, which basically never happens. I end up tracking 4 hours and then trying to cram the rest in before or after the workday. And it’s not like, straightforward stuff that AI could write. Our clients are expecting highly evocative, branded writing throughout multiple service pages, an about page, and so on. I also have to pitch like 10 taglines to every client as part of their copy overhaul and honestly I feel like I could spend a day on those alone. How many times can I say something new yet eternal, inspiring yet simple in a day?

I feel like I churn out so much and I’m starting to really hate the sound of my own voice, and doubt that anything I write is very good at all. I’m so stressed that I dream about work now, and either screwing up in front of a client or being called a worthless hack.

Side note, I didn’t realize how emotionally draining it would be to defend creative work and then pivot to writing in the same day. I feel like I’ve been squeezed dry.

First pole class. I didn’t expect how bad I’d feel.

I feel so ugly and incompetent. I didn’t realize how triggering it would be to watch myself flail around like a whale in those 360 mirrors.

The poor instructor kept trying to help me. At one point she said, “do you want me to wipe down the pole for you?” And I was like, “hahah, strangely I don’t think that’s the issue.” Because obviously it was me.

It was just an intro class but I felt like everyone was so much more fit and capable than me. I’m just feeling super down and could really use encouragement. I don’t want to give up.

Work is slow and I’m nervous. Should I talk to my boss?

In some ways, I’m in a very fortunate situation because I work at a micro company, and my boss is the owner.

Basically work is super slow right now for reasons out of my control—we’re just not getting a ton of new clients this summer.

I talk to my boss 1:1 every other week, and she doesn’t seem worried, but my heart sinks everyday I clock only a handful of hours. I make a very generous salary and I’m wondering how long she can afford to pay me with no new projects.

Should I bring this up to soothe my nerves? Any thoughts on how to phrase this? We have a good relationship. Should I just trust that she’ll be honest with me if the time comes?

I just really don’t want to suddenly be without income.

Boyfriend is experiencing limerence for someone else. We’ve only been together a year.

We’re in our late 20s, and have been together for roughly a year. I overheard him talking on the phone, and brought it up. “Limerence” was the word he used, and he feels it toward a woman he literally never spoke to.

I’ve been reading through this sub, trying to wrap my head around this. I thought we had great relationship, but holy fuck, if he’s yearning over a stranger/has gotten bored of me this quickly, how could we make it long term? This feels like evidence that our relationship isn’t fulfilling for him. I don’t know what to do, but I’m really quite sad.

You guys understand limerence better than I do. Do you think this is a sign that our relationship has gone stale?

My Dad’s an old guy who needs to get out the house. What’s happening in Hendersonville?

He really needs to A.) leave the house and B.) meet other active seniors. He likes rock n roll (big Elvis fan), pottery, and movies. I think he’d be willing to take some leisurely walks with a group. Not a huge drinker.

How are ya’lls parents keeping busy?

🚨THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

Illigetimate breeders (I won’t name names) are attempting to pass of white-lipped bingos as keeshonden. Bingos are actually an invasive species that originate from the Australian outback.

They are known for:

- Mischievous behavior and shenanigans

- Thieving, swiping, and stealing food

- Outrageous levels of sass

- A distinctive white patch on the tip of the muzzle

I was fooled into purchasing a white-lipped bingo. I love her, but I want to educate others on the risks of bingo ownership. It’s…a lot, you guys. Stay on the lookout.

If any of you suspect you’ve fallen into the bingo trap, please post a picture. We can provide solidarity to impacted members of the community.

((This is just a joke, if it wasn’t obvious. Let the record show that my breeder rocks. But seriously, lots of white lippies on this sub!! I thought it was just my girl.))
