Is router placement genuinely that important?

I never really thought about router placement before because in my old house, the router was already set up where it was and everything worked perfectly. In my new place, I asked them to fit it where there was some spare space, but the connection just doesn’t feel as smooth now. It works, but some rooms seem weaker, and things randomly feel slower than they should. I remember hearing someone mention router placement making a difference before, so now I’m wondering if that actually matters or if I’m just blaming the wrong thing.

I’m looking at upgrading to the Full Fibre 910 plan and the Pro II package is being pushed hard because of the 4G back up. I realised that in the year I’ve had standard Vodafone fibre, I’ve had exactly three outages, all of which were fixed before I even finished my morning coffee. I noticed the Super WiFi Plus booster now comes with Alexa built in, which feels a bit like they’re just trying to stuff tech into the box to justify the price. I’m not sure if I’m better off just tethering to my phone if the line goes down.

I’ve been going back and forth on this a bit. Part of me likes the idea of picking a few individual stocks and trying to beat the market, but at the same time funds and ETFs just feel a lot less stressful and easier to stick with long term. Not sure if I’m overthinking it or if most people just settle into one approach after a while. Would be good to hear how others handle it.

Did anyone see the PwC report from last week? Leading firms are automating 74% of decisions without human intervention. I’ve just seen a demo of an Agentic Auditor that does a sample check in 4 seconds that used to take me a whole week as a trainee. Is the move to pivot purely into Advisory and ESG Assurance, or are we just waiting for the bots to learn how to handle a client who refuses to use Xero?
