Selling my Old HP Elitebook 840 G1 (1600×900 Touchscreen) . Intel i7 4600U 8GB DDR3L RAM (4×2) @5k

My asking Price is kshs. 5,000

My reason for selling is that I'm in urgent need of the money plus my sister has a spare laptop with the same specs.

- Crack on the glass protection for the screen

- Battery can no longer hold charge.

- Has one slot each for a 2.5" HDD/SSD and 2242 SATA SSD.

- Does not come with a charger or storage.

- Only the fan has ever been replaced.

Also, if you know a shop that buys old working laptops, that would be very helpful.

I'm obsessed with Fried rice now

Ingredients

- Leftover 3-day old Refrigerated Rice (Preferrably Sindano since it's less sticky)

- ½ Onion

- 3 cloves of Garlic

- 1 Green Bell Pepper

- 1 Carrot

- 3 Eggs

- Frozen Peas

- 3 Tablespoons of Curry Powder (I prefer Tandori because it's spicier)

- 4-5 tablespoons of Light Soy Sauce

- Vegetable Cooking Oil

- A pinch of salt (some people add a bit of brown sugar to offset the spice)

The veggies were lightly stir-fried (in the same sufuria I fried the rice) with Light Soy Sauce and very little oil, separately for a crispier texture then the egg-fried fried rice is finally added back. I don't have one of those restaurant high heat stoves so this is a workaround.

You can also serve the veggies separately with some sauce (I really like Peptang's "Choma Sauce").

If you don't have a non-stick pot/pan and only use sufurias like me here's a workaround:

- Get a dry sufuria that's thin at the base. Pre-heat it until it starts to smoke or glistens.

- Now pour some oil and do your best to coat the inside of the sufuria. Remove the excess oil.

- Heat up the sufuria again on high heat until it starts to smoke. Lower the heat and pour some oil enough to fry the eggs and you're set.

Any workaround for the narrow focus area?

Man I miss GCAM on my old phone...

This photo was taken at 2X Zoom 12MP. Even taking shots from above there's still that annoying blur around the edges of the rice that just ruins the shot.

Any tips to improve the shots before editing would be nice

High Power Cooling on a Budget (TH28 PRO 38W)

I got this for $17 from Ali with a coupon and coins discount. The price can get as high as $30 on some stores so choose wisely and stick to stores with verified photo reviews to avoid potential scams.

Another cheap alternative with a companion app is the Flydigi BX9 especially if you can get it for less than $40.

The product name is TH28 Pro and it peaks a 40W for me. The TH series is pretty good and they're 2-3X cheaper than what the likes of BlackShark, OnePlus, Vivo and Redmagic have to offer with similar performance. Of course the caveats are no app companion and possibly slightly louder fans.

I was shocked to see NTE basically pull 7.4W out of my Exynos 1480 (Galaxy A55) when I set the game to 60fps. It used to be unplayable after about 15mins, even at 45fps cap. So i bought a new cooler since my old OnePlus 27W finally died on me after 4 years.

- With this cooler, running NTE at 45fps with everything set to Very Low + TAA, skin temps hardly reach 35°C. At 60fps with no Anti-Aliasing even this cooler isn't enough to keep skin temps below thermal throttling threshold, as you can see in the graph the skin temps flatten out at the 40°C which is my set limit and this is the fan running at full speed lol.

Battery temps were at a steady 23°C which isn't bad.

NTE is the only game I have that was able to push this cooler to its limts. I would wager similar games like ZZZ would yield similar results when pushed to the limit.

- However you will get better results than me if your SoC is more power efficient and your device has a better cooling system than mine.

You can disable the RGB lights. The dust cover is removable, apparently, for easy cleaning but I personally haven't been able open it.

It has in-built magnets for mag-safe phones, a thin magnetic patch is also included for phones without magsafe and clips with a screw mount for tripod stands like you see in the photo.

You can switch between Wattage and Temperature display.

It has five modes:

- L3 = 35-42W (Lowest temp. -17°C | with phone attached -6°C )

- L2 = 22--28W (Lowest temp. -9°C | with phone attached -1°C )

- L1 = 10-18W (Lowest temp. -2°C | with phone attached 6°C)

- AI = Regulates itself based on how hot or cold the surface gets. When its warm it will automatically draw more power in order to cool down faster and vice versa. It typically tries to maintain °5C on the surface.

- Level Mode (1-100) = When you press and hold the mode button it ramps up the fan speed higher than L3 with the lowest level (1) drawing at least 18W and the highest (100) drawing 38-42W; it is also the loudest and can cool the surface upto -19°C and even lower at lower room temperatures.

PROS

- Very affordable for what it offers.

- Very strong magnetism.

- Supports tripod stands.

- Large cooling surface area.

- A big and effective heatsink and thus the exhausted air is rather warm as opposed to hot.

- Reasonably lightweight at 105g despite its large appearance.

- Includes braided USB-C to C cable.

- Removable dust cover for easy cleaning.

CONS

- No warranty.

- A very bland design with no color variations. (You won't be looking at it though while it's in use)

-The clips are hard to apply and much harder to remove. You might break them if you pull too hard.

- L3 fan speed is a bit loud.

- No companion app

- The cooler's surface is metal with no thermally conductive silicone pad so it might scratch the back of your phone if there's hard particles on it.

- The metal surface is easier to dent as well as opposed to if it had a silicone pad.

- Due to the metal surface, contact isn't as good as a silicone pad so heat transfer is less efficient.

- I would like to warn those with glass back phones that the adhesive on the magnetic patch doesn't stick strong enough on smooth surfaces like glass. And thus the magnetic force will gradually weaken the adhesion om the patch the more you apply and remove the cooler.

Using Dex via Wired ADB through ScrcpyGUI

Dex works but there's a few quirks:

- Latency is noticeable and gets worse when playing a video. It might be my potato laptop with its very weak Intel Graphics Family HD iGPU. Someone with a better speced PC can try it and let me know.

- Basic Mouse and keyboard inputs don't work with games.

- It's a bit laggy when playing YouTube videos. Which again might be my weak iGPU because utilisation ramps up to 100% immediately and windows UI becomes less responsive.

Screen mirroring performs way better at higher bitrates but it also has its downsides.

Weird display color flickering only on 120Hz

So I recently just started noticing this on my display where some parts of tbe screen would subtly change color for a split second whenever I tap on those areas. Yesterday when typing on my Samsung keyboard, the gray areas would turn into a very light hue of maroon. The black backgrounds would turn greyish but today it's a very light green-blue hue. It only happens on 120Hz mode. When screen recording, the flicker occurs automatically every second.

I've had this phone for almost 2 years. Why is it happening now though?

Are there Desktop Docking Hubs that allow at least PD Fast Charging and MTP Connection to a computer at the same time?

Hi. So I own a Galaxy A55 and it has no Display Out support like most android phone so a capture card is out of the question. I play games a lot and would like to record some gameplays without using the phone's battery.

- I use GUISCRCPY on my Intel 4600U laptop to record gameplays to the laptop with minimal to no fps loss. I would like to use bypass charging while recording to preserve my battery. So, I was wondering if there's any Desktop Docking Hubs like the one in the photo that solve this issue.

- The hub needs to have PPS support and can output at least 25W as per Samsung's Game Booster requirements.

Shopping Credits issue follow-up

Does anyone here speak corporate English? My dumb-ahh has no clue what this means.

Link to the previous post [HERE](https://www.reddit.com/r/Aliexpress/s/dqOeiHlTnL).

So basically I redeemed 50000 gems for a $5 coupon but it's not reflecting on my shopping credit balance. This is how they responded.

Over the years I've had the chance of using different coolers looking for the one perfect for my needs until I landed on OnePlus' 27W Cooler which served me for the past 5 years now until recently where it fried itself. While looking for a new one I've come across a lot of people online with the same sentiment that they don't know which one to go for or they bought one that underperformed for their needs. I also do source for my friends locally so I've tried a bunch of these coolers.

Having ordered a new cooler recently, I thought I'd make a buying guide (currently working on it) for people who are in the same situation I was in when I first thought of trying coolers.

Some links (Telegram and Aliexpress) are banned on Reddit so I don't know how to go about sharing store links on here.

Would you be interested?

So NTE Servers finally opened yesterday and I have to say I'm quite impressed with the optimisation. Based on my experience with ZZZ I was expecting the game to struggle with Exynos 1480. With further optimisation I believe a stable 45fps on Performance mode is possible.

On the lowest graphics it still looks pretty good. Anti-Aliasing is a must though. It doesn’t get to 60fps unfortunately but it did peak at 46fps for me while just roaming. I capped mine at 30fps though to ease the load on the gpu.

Of course there's the occasional stutters and lags especially during fights with heavy animations. I was playing on controller (which is what I would recommend) so even though I capped it to 30fps it wasn't an unpleasant experience. 30fps will feel terrible if you're playing with touch controls.

I would also recommend playing with a cooler attached. It will get toasty after about 15-20mins of gameplay. Even a 10W cooler should help keep the skin temps just below 40°C

I did the recording using GUI SCRCPY on my laptop at 12MB/s bitrate so fps loss is usually about 0-5fps. It's much better than using the internal screen recorder or a 3rd party screen recorder.

I've narrowed down a list to a few buds I'm able to find in my country:

- ROSESELSA Ceramics Ultra

- ROSESELSA Ceramics MK2

- QCY MeloBuds N70

- Soundcore P40i

- Moondrop Space 2 Ultra

- Moondrop Space 2

- Galaxy Buds FE

- HAYLOU Mori Pro

My priority is finding the best sounding earbuds under 50$. Clean and deep sub-bass response, clean forward vocals and most importantly a detailed/crisp treble.
