What drill bit to add holes to PRI Toob?

Got an odd build I’m doing, not an mk12 clone but I don’t think there’s a better sub when it comes to knowledge on the pri handguard.

I want to add a carbine length top rail to my 14” tube to add some rigidity and anti rotation without adding as much weight as doing the whole 14” top rail.
Sadly they don’t make a recce rail that works with the 14” hand guard.

I’ll have to drill some more holes in the top of the rail to attach the front of the rail as it won’t line up with the existing slots. What drill bit do you recommend? I saw somewhere that tile style carbide bits like the 3rd pic work best drilling into carbon fiber. Is that what you would suggest? Or would hard metal bits like in the 4th pic work fine?

Thank you for any input you have!

HK SP5- my first SBR

Just got my form 1 back (18 day approval)
Decided to go the Magpul furniture route. Good quality, and good ergonomics without ruining the og aesthetic too much (utg hand guard, lee sporting lower, etc). This is also one of the cleanest ways I’m found to run a light with a pressure switch

Omega 9k, Magpul grip module, FRT, and EOtech XPS2 are next on the list to finish this build.

1st SBR! HK SP5 Form 1 (18 day approval)

Finally a member of the NFA club. Now I just gotta get a suppressor for it.

I also submitted my ar15 at the same time and it just got approved as well, I just don’t have an SBR upper for it yet so no reason to post a picture. Plan on swapping out its current barrel for a 12.5”

After 3 comps I’ve finally decided to pick up a wagon.

Probably went a little overboard. I was looking at the collapsing wagons and they seemed fine but I was worried about overall longevity and how well they pulled. I picked up this metal wagon from Amazon for 130. A little more than the budget canvas wagons but cheaper than the good canvas ones. The pneumatic tires should handle any gravel or dirt pathways pretty easily. Fits my range bag, yeti cooler, and rifle with rifle mounts perfectly. Plan on adding an umbrella as well. Another bonus is that when I pick up a suppressor for this rifle I won’t have to worry about it burning anything.

This obviously isn’t a setup suited to someone with a car or crossover but it fits just fine in the bed of my truck. All in just under 200 bucks with the rifle mounts.

Why does my slide drop when inserting a mag? 92 GTS

It’s happens about 95% of the time I reload from a locked back slide, and causes a malfunction 30% of the time. Slowing it down it doesn’t look like I’m bumping the slide release (my thumbs are also too short to do so anyways).
I’m running a volker precision slide release if that matters. Does it need to be adjusted somehow?

First PCSL match complete! Ton of fun and definitely room to improve

3rd match down, 1 uspsa, 1 outlaw and 1 PCSL.

Ended up 24th out of 55 overall and 4th out of 25 in practical.

Really happy with the results because I do see tons of areas I need to improve upon. My stage planning is getting better, I got third overall on the one pistol only stage. Now shooting a stage with both pistol and rifle is definitely an added challenge.

Overall it was a great day of shooting!

Finally figured out what to do with all my gun stickers. New office wall art

If you’re into guns I’m sure you get plenty of stickers as well.

Just got a poster frame from Wally World and put a uspsa target in there. Finally have a place to put all my stickers zI’ve been hoarding.

Didn’t think about it till after but I’ll probably take the target back out to shoot it a few times and put it back in for some extra spice🔥

Fixed 10x and PRS. Are these groups good enough to even have a good time at a comp?

I have a fixed 10x scope, 16” barrel 308 Remington 700. Obviously I would use the 168 smks as they are the best round my rifle so far. All these are shot from a folding table with bipod and rear bag.

Could I have a good time (not be competitive but at least hit 1/3 of the targets) at PRS or is my scope and maybe skill the limiting factor? I feel like could shrink these 150 yard groups at least 1/2 and inch with higher magnification glass.

How much can ammo affect groups? 4”-6” groups at 150 yards.

Just took my rifle out for the first time since I got the barrel cut to 16”. Before getting it cut I was shooting 1.5” groups at 200 with 168 fgmm. I didn’t have any more of the same ammo on hand so I used Black Hills Gold 150grn Hornady sst. All my were groups between 4 and 6 inchs. Rifle is a Remington 700 PSS .308 with 1-12 twist. It should stabilize 150grn rounds just fine but if I’m wrong please let me know.

I plan on picking up some more 168 fgmm just to make sure but is there anything else I can check on the rifle? Im leaning towards the gunsmith must have messed something up when he chopped it. I’ve double checked the torque on my action screws, base, and rings. The crown also looks good as well.

94 Remington 700 PSS .308 passed down to me

My grandfather purchased this about a year before I was born in 1994. From what I hear that was still when Remington was making good rifles. Gave it to me when I turned 18. He never got around to doing anything with it. We installed tps rings and rail, timney trigger, and Swfa 3-15. Shot it a few times and has been sitting in the closet ever since.

Finally at a job where I have enough free time to start hunting. Decided to get the barrel chopped to 16” to make it handier for hunting. Central texas max range is maybe 200 yards realistically for white tail.
Also sent off the scope for a warranty repair due to my own fault and Swfa replaced it for me. Great CS. Ended up requesting the fixed 10x with zero stop instead of the 3-15.

Just finished the rattle can paint job and added the cheek riser. Thread Protector is a place holder until I decide what suppressor to go with.
Currently plan on getting a dbm bottom metal so I can try some prs matches.

Eventually I’ll get the action blue printed and rebarreled.

I plan on passing this down to my kids as well one day.

Looks much better with the scope and thread protector

Got the scope back from warranty repair.
Quick Shout out to SWFA, their customer service team rocks. Replaced a scope I purchased 11 years ago and damaged from user error.

Rapco 34079 Camo Forest Green
Rapco 30118 Camo Field Drab Brown

Once thing I did notice is that Rapco does not like loctite. I sprayed the scope rings over a week ago and allowed them to cure. Properly prepped by cleaning with 99% isopropyl alcohol before spraying. I installed the scope last night with blue loctite. This morning the paint around the gap in the rings was wrinkled and wiped right off. Just an fyi. It may be because that’s where the edge of the paint was and it was able to get underneath, I’m not sure.

Overall still really happy with it.

Progress baby!

M30 270lbs. The progress keeps me pushing.
Up 30lbs in 19 days. I will admit some of that is probably due to the belt and taking my shoes off. I’m also just getting back into it after not regularly going to the gym since basically high school.

Second match complete! Lessons learned (PCSL)

Just shot my second match. It was a PCSL/outlaw match. My first was USPSA. Had a hell of good time but that texas heat was brutal.

Overall 14th out of 30. My first match was 60th something out of 70ish so a big improvement. This stage I scored 9th overall and if I didn’t lose 9 seconds on the malfunction it would have been 3rd.

Lessons learned

  1. Speed up. I shot all alphas on this stage so I know I need to push my speed more, shoot on the move more, and be more explosive out of positions
    My overall was A-109 C-17 NS-1 M&D-0

  2. Stage plan. I always have a good stage plan until the beep and it goes away. I never remember my reloads. That particularly hurt here where if I reloaded on the transition before the malfunction like I planned, I would have had one on the chamber and the malfunction would have never happened.

Overall a great time and plenty of room to keep improving!

First Rapco Spray

Turned out pretty good, I dig it.
I used painters tape to do negative style stencils. I only waited 4 hours after the base coat before taping the stencils and you can see some places where the tape was. Next time I’ll definitely wait 24 hours between coats.
Colors used in last photo

Side note: Waiting on the scope to come back from warranty repair and just got the barrel chopped and threaded so I still need to pick up a muzzle device

Hope the wife doesn’t plan on doing any laundry in the next 24 hours 🤣

Drying in the laundry room because it’s too damn humid in my central texas garage right now

Cheating on rustoleum

Time to see what this rapco is all about. Any ideas on what to do with these colors, trying to change it up with the green. My go to has always just been FDE and brown

Am I Tier 1 now?

Out of curiosity I decided to pick up a knock off amazon GBRS Lerna mount to try on my 22. I actually hate that I don’t hate it.

While it’s definitely too tall to justify using it without using nods, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be.
I’ve always been a lower 1/3 guy but after messing with this I think I’m going to give 1.93 or 2.26 a try on my 556 guns. I do like the more heads up shooting style, and so far I haven’t had an issue with picking up the dot at speed.

I think I’ll actually keep this mount on my 22 as it’s actually pretty fun to mess with.

Side note: It seems to actually be easier to pick up the dot for someone that’s not used to shooting rifles. My wife and sister in law both found it easier to use when they normally struggle with finding a good check wield with an absolute or lower 1/3.

1rm after 8 year break. Ego or clean? 465lbs

M30 275lbs. How would you say my 1rm falls on the ego scale?

u/MrNobody0312 — 3 months ago

Tried something new on the comp rifle

Figured I’d try something new by making an actual pattern instead of random spray streaks. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

Colors used Rustoleum flat earth brown and flat khaki

Stacy’s mom K dimensions?

Looking to pick up my first suppressor. The build I’m putting it on is extremely specific as I’m getting the barrel cut to the exact measurement I need.

Does anyone know these 2 dimensions for the Stacy’s mom k?

Thank you,
