My kid's in the hospital and I can't go see him

Five Guys from the other day.

CONTENT WARNING: Talk of >!suicide ideation.!<

My kid is 25. His mother and I are divorced. I have since remarried and am very happy. My ex never did.

My current wife and I never had kids and we don't intend to. She never had kids of her own. (We raise four legged friends.)

So my kid with my ex is the only kid for either of us.

I'm not even sure why he's in there. He said he wanted to talk to a therapist last week, and after the first session, the therapist called my ex and suggested she take him to a hospital to get evaluated for >!suicide risk!<. By all accounts, he was fine until Sunday.

I'm just waiting to hear back from the hospital. But it's the >!psych ward!<, and he's an adult, so I can't go there and see him. I have to wait until they call me.

This is a very frustrating feeling of being powerless to help my kid.

Do you get anything out of romance angles in a kayfabe era? We know -- and WWE acknowledges on air-- some real life relations (e.g., Montez-Bianca, Seth-Becky, Jimmy-Naomi). Why bother with these kayfabe "relationships"?

It re-opened about a week ago. This is the Lidl.

The first pic is a panoramic view of when you first walk in. You might need to click on it to get the full scope.

The meat coolers actually have fresh meat in them now and extend toward the ceiling. No more feeling like you're shopping in Soviet Russia circa 1984.

The self-checkout station is wide now, so you can actually get past other people.

And the shopping carts are all brand new. No more janky wheels on every other cart.

Are recumbents just slower than other bikes by design?

I bought a Cattrike Max about 2 months ago. I love it and am riding ~5x/week.

But I’ve noticed that almost all other bikes are passing me on the road. Often, I’ll be pedaling just as hard or harder than them, but I only get 8-9 mph while they’re coasting by at 12-15 mph.

Is this common with recumbents? Or did I just buy a slower model?

My mostly-vegetarian wife is out of town. Dinner last night was something much needed.

Reverse-seared Ribeye, broccoli, and mushrooms & spinach. Double scotch to wash it down.

It's been a rough few months. My side hustle failed and I'm between primary jobs. Like many guys, I think my sense of identity and self-worth is too closely tied to my job. I fell into a depression. I've had clinical depression before (so I know what it feels like), but I haven't had an episode in maybe ~15 years.

And then I had an accident in the home a couple of months ago and the docs put me on anti-seizure meds. I had practically every possible adverse reaction to that med that Google told me was possible: diarrhea, sciatica pain, dizziness, and bouts of uncomfortable rage. That last one really (further) fucked things up between me and my wife.

Things are getting better now. I'm finding that going for bike rides every day is helping with my depression. My wife is loving, but tbh, it's probably been a couple of months since she's felt safe enough with me to have sex. She's mostly semi demi-sexual, so the ability to feel safe is big for her.

Each day I get closer to feeling more like myself again.

How many different grocery stores do you hit? What do you get from a them and how often are you going?

My household is just my wife and I, plus our two dogs. We go to:

Costco: I'd say every two weeks. We get our non-perishables from there (e.g., shampoo, body wash, garbage bags, dishwasher detergent, pasta, rice, canned chicken breast, etc.), some fruits & veggies, some basics that we can turn into easy meals (e.g., pasta sauce, meatballs, salmon/frozen shrimp/chicken breast), some frozen foods for struggle days, and we hit the pharmacy.

Giant: My wife has some prescriptions that it's easier for her to get them from Giant, rather than Costco. So we'll hit them on occasion. We might succumb to temptation and get ice cream there. (They're the only place around that reliably carries dairy-free ice cream.)

Lidl: I feel like we're there weekly. But we don't buy a lot of things there, just little things we might have forgotten. The bakery is great and we occasionally get a loaf of bread there. The cheese selection might be the best in CP.

H Mart: I'm Korean and I have to have kimchi in the house. So we go to H Mart in Ellicott City probably once every two months or so. The H Mart in Silver Spring/Wheaton is closer, but the one in Ellicott City is huge and has way more selection. My wife also likes the Korean spicy mustard.

PetSmart: Grooming every 6 weeks.

Chewy: Dog food every 6 weeks or so.

I feel like that's a lot.

Holy crap. It’s been 40 years!

I didn’t remember Charlie Sheen in this movie.
