2 Cold Scorpio Sentenced

Former WWF, WCW and ECW star Charles "2 Cold Scorpio" Scaggs, 60, has now officially been handed a six-year sentence, with the court also ordering him to complete Missouri’s 120-day Shock Incarceration program.

Scaggs pled guilty on charges of assault - second degree as well as armed criminal action.

Although Scorpio has been sentenced to six years, the 120-day program gives him a potential path back out of prison much sooner. That also means this case probably isn’t done producing major updates, with another important decision likely coming in early 2027 once the program is completed and the court gets the Department of Corrections’ recommendation.

I Did it for The Rock

At Survivor Series in November 1999, “Stone Cold" Steve Austin was struck by a car in the parking lot.
Nearly a year later on October 9, 2000, Rikishi confessed to the crime. He famously claimed, "I did it for The Rock," arguing that WWE always pushed "great white hopes" (like Hulk Hogan and Austin) while keeping Samoan and Pacific Islander wrestlers—including The Rock, Jimmy Snuka, and Rikishi's family—in the lower tier.

It was later revealed that Rikishi did not act alone. Triple H was the true mastermind behind the hit-and-run. He admitted he paid and manipulated Rikishi to take out Austin so that both Triple H and The Rock could rise to the top of the company.

Austin returned to get retribution, feuding heavily with Rikishi (destroying him in a No Holds Barred match at No Mercy 2000) and eventually targeting Triple H in a violent rivalry.

In reality, Austin needed major spinal fusion surgery to repair a severe neck injury he suffered from an Owen Hart piledriver at SummerSlam 1997. WWE needed a dramatic storyline to write him off TV for about a year. Austin later called the car hit-and-run storyline the worst of his entire wrestling career.

Remembering Gorilla Monsoon

On October 6, 1999 Robert James "Gino" Marella, better known by his ring name, Gorilla Monsoon died of heart failure brought on by complications of diabetes, at his home in Willingboro Township, New Jersey. He was 62 years old.

Born on June 4, 1937, the legendary Gorilla Monsoon was truly one of the great all-around personalities in professional wrestling history.

Marella debuted in 1958, originally billing himself as Gino Marella, a proud Italian American babyface who would sing in Italian prior to his matches. He also became one of the wrestling’s top heels, feuding with popular babyface champion Bruno Sammartino in sellout arenas across the country. Despite his huge size, billed at 6’ 7” and 401lbs, Monsoon had great agility and stamina, often wrestling Sammartino to one-hour time-limit draws.

After an outstanding career as a feared heavyweight inside the ring, he became even more beloved to a generation of WWF fans as the unforgettable voice of countless matches alongside Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and Jesse “The Body” Ventura. Whether he was calling the action, trading hilarious insults with Heenan, serving as WWF President, or simply bringing credibility to everything he was involved in, Gorilla Monsoon was one of a kind.

Longtime wrestling fans can remember that unmistakable voice and classic expressions like “Will you stop!” whenever they think about the golden era of the WWF.

In a tribute that aired on October 7, 1999, on an episode of WWF SmackDown!, Vince McMahon described Marella as "one of the greatest men I have ever known."

The staging area just behind the entrance curtain at an event, a position which Marella established and where he could often be found during WWF shows late in his career, is named the "Gorilla Position" in his honor.

The Rock Responds to Dave Meltzer’s Report

Dave Meltzer reported that some in WWE were reportedly surprised by The Rock’s wording when praising AEW in his tribute video to PAC:

“Rock and Nick Khan are close. I do not believe that has changed. Were there people in WWE who were very surprised at his wording and what he said, especially with him being on the TKO board of directors? Yes, okay. They were very surprised. Nick may not have been. He may have told Nick ahead of time. Maybe he didn’t. He can do whatever he wants.

Not that he did the video, but the wording in the video, where he praised them and essentially gave the stamp of, ‘Yeah, you guys are good for business and work hard, and you’re helping make wrestling.’

That’s not the message I think the company wants out. No one’s going to be mad at him doing the video, but the wording, people brought it up to me.”

- Dave Meltzer
(WOR | @WONF4W)

The Rock responded to the Dave Meltzer report that WWE were “very surprised” by the video about Pac:

“you're right brother, and humanity matters to me. I was born into this business and I've seen it all, but when one of our own passes away, I don't care nor do I see "our competition"
, I care about the wrestlers and
how it affects them. I've been there. To me, humanity matters most.”

Borne Again (Matt Borne) vs. 2 Cold Scorpio

Date: October 11, 1994 (Taped on October 1, 1994)

Promotion: Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW)

Match Stipulation / Type: Singles Match

Event: ECW Hardcore TV

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | ECW Arena (Now Known as the 2300 Arena)

➜ Matt Borne is someone that most people remember as the original Doink the Clown. He played the character from January 31, 1993 until December 27, 1993.

Borne next appeared as Doink in 1994 in ECW. Shortly afterwards, ECW World Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas, criticized Vince McMahon for turning a talented wrestler like Borne into a comic relief character, and claimed that he knew how to bring out Borne's full potential. Borne then changed his ring name to Borne Again and continued wearing the clown suit, albeit without the wig, wearing a minimal amount of face paint, as well as growing out his hair and beard. After beating his opponents, he would make them dress in clown outfits. However, his tenure with the company was short-lived due to personal problems.

"Borne Again" was a dark, psychological gimmick. It is widely remembered as one of ECW's greatest missed opportunities due to its short duration and massive creative potential.

Chris Hero Explains the Pronunciation and Origins of PAC’s Name

"PAC is pronounced PACK, not Pock. It’s from a nickname his Dad gave him when he was just a boy. Six Pack Ben Satterley

I get it 2Pac, XPac. People have been saying it that way for years. That’s fine. Some will continue to say ‘Pock’ & that’s fine too

Ben would cringe at the idea of correcting someone so I don’t mean to be the Pronunciation Police here. I just think some people aren’t aware & I feel it’s important & respectful to say or spell someone’s name correctly

The difference between Pack & Pock is the same difference between Max & Mox. Would you make that mistake?”
