Hey fellow turners! Spent the afternoon prepping this pile of exotic pen blanks (25x25x150mm) for some upcoming custom pen builds.

​Got a really fun mix in this lot—dense Amboyna eye burls, heavy curly grain with awesome chatoyancy, and some spalted pieces with sharp line contrast. Sized them to 25x25x150mm so there’s plenty of material to work with for larger kit pens or custom kitless designs.

​When turning highly figured exotic burls, do you prefer a CA glue finish or friction polish to bring out the depth?

​Milled to 50x220x620mm each. The tiger-stripe curl is super dense across the face, and the natural contrast between the dark heartwood and bright sapwood creates such an awesome frame. Thinking these would make an insane drop top for a guitar or a luxury box lid.

​How do you guys like to finish highly figured mango wood to really pop the chatoyancy without darkening the sapwood too much?
