Made a stainless steel version of the smart ring jackets

I’ve posted in here a few times about the smart ring jackets I’ve been making out of 925 silver and the response was a lot bigger than I expected and the feedback has been great, so thank you for that...

One thing that kept coming up was durability, cause silver is a soft metal. It scratches, it picks up a patina, and it needs a polish now and then.. i personally love that about silver but others wanted something they could wear to the gym or at work without thinking about it, so we decided to make the same designs in 316L stainless steel as well.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Would you rather go for stainless steel or silver and why?

The stainless steel ones are up for a limited pre-sale on our website now if anyone wants a look..

cheers,

fin

Oura Ring Cover

full disclosure again, i'm the founder behind these.. some of you gave me some good feedback on my last posts about the 925 silver jackets/covers i make for the oura ring, so this is a follow up on what actually changed with the release of the new Oura Gen 5

the thing that always bugged me and a few of you called it out too, was the bulk but the Oura 5 with a smart ring jacket is way closer to just looking like a normal silver ring instead of a ring wearing a case… pretty stoked about it, especially with this new design.

genuinely keen on thoughts and would you even still want a ring jacket for the new Oura 5?

We're building a platform to support people who shoot film and would love to get more of you involved

We're building Filmcuts, a platform that supports film shooters, from licensing your footage to funding passion projects shot on film. We're still early days but the whole mission is to help keep analog filmmaking alive and give the people shooting it more ways to get their work seen (and paid for).

If that sounds like your thing, shoot me a DM, would love to get more of you involved.

Gen 5 Smart Ring Jacket

Got the first Gen 5 pieces of the smart ring jackets that ive been designing, and I'm honestly so stoked... The Gen 4 versions always had a bit of bulk to them and that was also the main concern from you guys on some of my earlier posts too. But the thinner Gen 5 sits so much lower that it just looks like a normal silver ring now. Well worth the upgrade to Gen 5 in my opinion.

Would love any feedback, always trying to improve these ;)

Stock Footage

hey team,

I'm looking for artists to join Filmcuts, a stock footage platform focused entirely on short film footage..

we're building it as a community to support people who shoot on film with helping them fund more shoots, whether that's through selling their stock footage or getting involved in projects like our Filmcuts Originals etc.

if you shoot a lot of film (8mm,16mm or 35mm) and have footage sitting around or just wanna shoot more, then feel free to reach out. I'd love to chat and see if you'd be a good fit for the platform.

Update: living with a silver jacket over my Oura for a few months

disclosure first: I’m the founder of yoreh, a jewelry brand and we recently launched our handcrafted smart ring jackets (and shipped a few hundred by now).. enough time's passed that i can actually talk about how it holds up day to day and by the feedback of our community, rather than just hyping a new thing..

the look was the whole reason i started. as a jewelry designer and artist, the oura ring always read "fitness device" to me.. but once a silver jacket is over it, it just looks like a ring, especially on the new Gen 5! that part's held up: still getting daily compliments on it, a lot of questions and people are super excited when they hear about it, and nobody clocks it as a tracker anymore.

so after a few months of daily wear:

– i love how i don’t take it off at all, and i genuinely love the way silver ages too, it really becomes more and more part of myself

– readings never skipped. that was my biggest worry going in and the thing i lost the most sleep over designing, how to designs the jackets so it sits over the ring without touching the sensors but I can confirm my sleep/HR data's been totally normal the whole time

– it's quietly protected the actual ring underneath. the titanium would've been scratched to hell by now, and it's basically untouched, even tho that was never the plan of these jackets.. its a great add on

– it adds a little thickness especially on the Gen 4, you notice it the first day then forget about it, but it's there, BUT luckily the new Gen 5 is 40% smaller, and so is the ring jacket, and it genuinely blends in perfectly in my hand

mostly posting this as a follow-up to my last post a few months back, when i shared the first designs and asked what you all thought. the response kind of blew me away, and a lot of you asked how they'd actually hold up over time / whether they mess with readings, so now that i've got a few months of daily wear and a lot of customer experience in, i wanted to come back and actually answer that properly.

happy to get into the weeds if anyone's curious, and to everyone who gave feedback on the first post, thank you so much, it genuinely shaped where these went...

Ring Jacket for Oura Gen 5???

full disclosure again, i'm the founder behind these. some of you gave me some good feedback on my last post about the 925 silver jackets i make for the oura ring, so this is a follow up on what actually changed with the release of the new Oura Gen 5

the thing that always bugged me and a few of you called it out too, was the bulk. a jacket sitting over a ring is never going to be invisible, but on the oura 4 it added more than i wanted. i made these to wear myself first so it mattered to me a lot…

the oura 5 is slimmer, and that finally let me redesign the jacket around it properly. thinner wall, less stack, way closer to just looking like a normal silver ring instead of a ring wearing a case… pretty stoked about it!

so I did a few new designs while i was at it, same direction as before but with some texture options this time.

genuinely keen on thoughts and would you even still want a ring jacket for the new oura 5?

925 Silver Smart Ring Jackets

Full disclosure upfront: I'm the founder behind the brand of these but just looking for genuine feedback..

Ive been designing these smart ring jackets that fit around smart rings to make them look less like a medical device, and honestly it's been a mission these past few months figuring out how to make them fit perfectly without interfering with the sensors or connectivity and all that...

i've handcrafted them in 925 sterling silver. Mostly leaning in a more masculine direction so far cause first of all i made it to wear it myself but I'd love to hear what you all think.

Should I do more varied designs? Would you wear it? Any feedback is welcome, keen to hear your thoughts..

Tried a more vintage gold tone for the smart ring jackets... honest thoughts??

Sooo... my last post got way more love than I expected (thanks for that!)

A bunch of you asked about gold options so here's some product photos of what i’ve been working on.  I went with a more vintage/warm gold tone rather than that bright yellow gold you see everywhere, that just suits my own vibe better but I really wanna know how you guys feel about it??

The base is still recycled 925 sterling silver and then plated in 3.5 microns of 18k gold (technically vermeil-grade for anyone who cares about that stuff)

Would love to hear all your thoughts ;)
