Why Train Grip?

Hey everyone, first timer here in the sub...

I've been in the gym consistently for nearly a decade now, and close to half of my life. For the most part, I've never had any issues with my grip, and haven't felt the need to train it directly. Genetically, I have larger than average forearms (thx Dad) so maybe I'm more prone to gaining grip strength natural without directly needing to target it?

But that's where my question comes in... Why should I train it directly? Why do you all train your grip? Is it just to close stronger grip trainers?

I guess I'm just not sure on what the goal is when it comes to longterm grip training like this sub?

I should let it be known though that this question comes from a point of genuine curiosity. I'm not here to say there isn't a reason, or anything like that - I'm just ignorant and trying to learn!

Your Favourite/Most Interesting Lucid Dream Report?

Hey everyone. I've always been fascinated in dreams and the dream realm, as well as lucid dreaming... To this point I have still not had a lucid dream, but I get bizarre, very vivid dreams nearly every night, with great recall that seems to be improving lately.

Anyways, I love reading people's reports, so I want to ask the community: What's your favourite/most interesting experience you've had or caused within a lucid dream?

How did you cause it? What did it feel like? Etc.

Use this is an opportunity to go deep, and really share your stories with myself and the rest of the sub!

[In Progress] [4.3k] [Psychological Thriller] "The Second Light"

Take a journey into the eyes of a lonely lighthouse worker. His monotonous, day-to-day life is uneventful, until he begins experiencing strange things... Experience a story told through both 1st person perspective, as well as LOGBOOK entries by our protagonist.

Only a short read so far.
Currently only through the opening of the story. I've introduced the character, as well as the theming/setting. I've set the pace for the book, but have only just started introducing the elements that lead towards to more psychological obsessive/thriller elements. This is my first attempt at a proper story (only done short-form NSFW with decent success) and I would like some f33dback on the first part of my story that I have so far. Talk about everything, the pacing, the characters, the world building... Give me some things to work off of, fix, and use to grow the remaining 2/3rds of the book. This is my first time ever seeking feedback for my work.

Bought My First Car Today!!!

Just wanted to come on and say I picked up my first car today at 23!

Call it a brag, call it whatever you want, but I'm very happy, and very proud of myself for hitting this monumental goal, all on my own... No cosigners, no help, figuring it all out myself without guidance. This was a huge step for me in my life... Especially since I've loved cars my whole life and never got the chance to really drive them, let alone own one until now.

But a big reason I come to say it is, I've worked so hard to get here. I look back at how hard things have been at times, and I see where I am today and can't believe it... Let this be your reminder that things get better. Things are beginning to look up for me, and if you're in a rough spot like I was, just keep looking up.

Not everyday is our best day, and we can go through days, weeks, months, even years in really rough spots. But no matter where you are, things can and will get better. I never believed it until now... Be proud of yourself. Be proud of where you came from. And no matter how high you climb, keep looking up!

Rules and Laws on Windshield Banner Decals/Sunstrips?

Hey fellow Ontarioans... I'm looking for some help on finding the laws and regulations about upper windshield decals and sunstrips like in the images shown. I can't find any rules on it, only windshield tint. I see plenty of cars with upper windshield decals and sunstrips, but I don't want to risk it if I can't find the exact rules on it.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Fears and Worries When Barefoot??

Hey everyone, first time here...

I've always been a barefoot person, going without shoes out to get the mail, or walk through the backyard, but that's it. Lately, I've been really wanting to go farther, specifically connecting barefoot with nature on a trail near my house - but my fears and worries have stopped me.

How do you all get over the fear of things like broken glass, or feces? Every step when I'm in the yard checking on my vegetables, I'm staring at the ground, worried about hidden dog poop I didn't see before. Anytime I'm out-front checking the mail, I'm staring at the ground for fear of broken glass.

I'm not a sandals or flip-flops guy at all. Rarely will I do sandals if I'm really hesitant going through the yard...

How do get over this fear and begin going barefoot more? The trail by my house is paved until a certain point, then it goes to dirt and gravel for a few km before moving in short distances of pavement again. So it would cover all terrains and be good exposure. It's also very popular so my anxiety about glass is higher.

Any advice or experience is greatly appreciated!

Gentle/Positive Crit Please

Hi everyone. I have my first local gallery exhibit coming up in 2 weeks. Its very small, a mix of artists over a few days. This is my main piece I'm bringing, and just wanted honest feedback and criticism about it.

It was my first real attempt at texture, forming a style, and stepping away from just "copying" from life. This was all from my mind, no reference imagery. Also only done with a pallete knife, no brushes at all to help develop my skillset and push me out of my comfort zone.

I am considering this done. But thoughts and feedback will be applied to my next paintings to develop and get better.

Its 12"×24", oil on canvas, done exclusively with palette knives.

Franks Gummy Bears

Picked these up today on a whim. Tasted like regular gummy bears, but with a little dusting on the outside of Franks powder. Minimal spice. But interesting nonetheless

Where To Stream Early French SpongeBob?

Hey everyone. I grew up part-french. My mom's first language is french. But in adulthood I've lost it all.

I'm trying to get it back slowly, and I was hoping to watch early SpongeBob episodes dubbed in french, with subtitles. Just simple. Easy study for the time being. But I cannot for the life of me find a good streaming service...

YouTube has compilations of french SpongeBob, but I'm looking for a comprehensive spot, with full episodes individually (S1, E1. S1, E2. etc).

I'm not interested in the new seasons, as I only ever watched the early stuff growing up, and I remember those episodes so watching and remembering through french is easier...

Does anyone have any good resources for this? I'm quite stuck.

Thanks!

Can't Play Old BC Dungeons For Quests

Hey everyone, having an issue with my main. I'm playing a level 73 Demonology Warlock, and he's my only character above level 14. I've been trying to play Burning Crusade through Chromie time. I have a couple quests that involve entering and completing dungeons, but I am not a high enough level or skill level to solo these dungeons. I can't do follower dungeons in Chromie time, and nobody joins through dungeon finder. What are my options to complete these dungeons, and then quests? I've played 55 hours of WOW, and still never gotten to do a dungeon because of the poor dungeon finder for older content.

Old Content at Lvl 70?

Hey everyone, been playing off and on for a couple years now, but never consistently. I just picked it back up again...

Last time I played, I was working through Dragonflight, and had just ordered War Within, but never played it.

Long story short, I would like to play through the nearly 20 years of content, before buying the new Midnight expansion. But I'm getting conflicting information online, or its all WOW terms I don't know yet.

I have a level 68 character, and I just started Burning Crusade. When I hit level 70, am I kicked out of Chromie time? Can I still play the old expansions? It would be my first character hitting a level cap.

(I would love to get Midnight eventually, and hopefully try raiding, but I can't justify the purchase just yet, especially with sooo much backlogged content to play).

Would it be worth creating an additional, new character to play through the expansions in release order?

Hey everyone, very new to the long-term investment game. I did a little day trading on Wealthsimple before, but that was it. I changed over to TD Direct Investing since all of my money and accounts are through them. Last week I put $100 in XEQT just as a low stakes trial to make sure I understand it and can sell/get the money back and everything works in a way I understand it before dumping a bunch of money in long term.

Transferring money over from my main account and buying was very easy, but when I go to sell, it says I own 0 XEQT, and have no value to sell. What's happening here? Do I just need to hold for more than a week before selling?
