Software Engineer Looking to Get Into Manufacturing & Exports – Need Ideas

I work in the software industry, but looking at the current direction of India's economy and job market, I feel manufacturing and exports may be a much stronger long-term play than depending solely on IT.

I'm interested in building a manufacturing business that can export products to international markets. The challenge is that I have:

Zero manufacturing experience

No background in supply chains or exports

Initial capital of around ₹10 lakh

Willingness to learn and spend time building something long term

My questions:

If you had ₹10 lakh and wanted to start a manufacturing + export business today, what would you choose?

Which products have relatively low competition compared to overcrowded categories?

Are there manufacturing businesses where technical knowledge can be learned on the job rather than requiring years of domain expertise?

If budget was not a constraint, what manufacturing sectors would you consider the most promising over the next 10–20 years?

Are there examples of people who started small and successfully scaled into exports?

Some areas I've briefly thought about:.

Industrial components

Automotive accessories

Specialized packaging

Agricultural products/value-added food products

Chemicals

Electrical components

Furniture/home decor

Medical consumables

However, I don't know enough to judge which industries are realistic for a complete beginner.

Would appreciate insights from manufacturers, exporters, business owners, or anyone who has gone through this journey. If you were starting from scratch today, where would you place your bet and why?

Thanks in advance.

Sell current 2BHK in Karmeta and move to a better locality with ₹40–45L budget – realistic or not?

Hi everyone,

Currently, I live in Karmeta, Jabalpur, and am considering selling my existing 2BHK house for around ₹35 lakh.

The idea is to upgrade to a property in a better locality with a total budget of around ₹40–45 lakh (including whatever extra amount I add after selling my current house).

My ideal requirement would be a duplex where:

Ground floor can be used by my family.

First floor can be rented out for some monthly income.

Alternatively, I'm also open to a good 2BHK if the location and overall setup are worth it.

Preference is for areas like:

Vijay Nagar

Lamti

Krishna City side

Nearby developing localities with decent future potential

I am not very interested in Bilehri, Tilhari, Gwarighat side, so would prefer to avoid those areas.

I understand that getting something on the main roads or prime locations within this budget may not be realistic. However, would it be possible to find something a little inside these areas or in nearby colonies with good connectivity?

A few questions

Is ₹40–45 lakh a realistic budget for what I'm looking for?

Which localities would you recommend for both self-use and rental potential?

Are there any societies or township projects worth considering in this budget?

If you were in my situation, would you upgrade now or continue staying in Karmeta and wait for a larger budget?

Would love to hear opinions from people who have recently bought property in Jabalpur or are actively tracking the market.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for Advice: Buying a 1RK/1BHK in Gurgaon for Rental Income

Hi everyone,

I'm exploring the idea of buying a small property in Gurgaon primarily as an investment for rental income. My budget is around ₹20 lakh, and I'm trying to understand whether it's realistically possible to get a decent 1RK or 1BHK within this range.

A few questions for people who are familiar with the Gurgaon real estate market:

- Which sectors or areas should I consider for the best rental demand?

- Is a budget of ₹20 lakh sufficient for a 1RK/1BHK in Gurgaon, or should I look at nearby areas as well?

- What kind of monthly rental income can I realistically expect?

- Are there any specific builder projects or societies that are worth exploring?

- Would you recommend Gurgaon, or are there better nearby locations for rental yield and future appreciation?

My goal is not self-use but generating steady rental income while also benefiting from long-term property appreciation.

Would love to hear from investors, homeowners, or anyone who has recently purchased a similar property.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Husband loves Duster, family hates it Need unbiased opinions before buying first

So we are planning to buy our first car, and honestly our family is fully divided

My husband is completely in love with the new Renault Duster type of car philosophy — rugged build, high ground clearance, strong engine, driver-focused feel, wet clutch/DCT etc. He has literally watched every YouTube review possible and keeps consuming car content specially of duster/creta/seltos/ kushaq.

On the other hand, my father-in-law absolutely did not like it.( To context He has 7-8 years old waganor)

Now, he is not someone with deep technical car knowledge, but he likes cars based on how many of those he sees on road , comfort, premium feel, interiors etc. He feels the previous Duster generation failed badly in India and has that “cheap/toy-like” image in his mind. He specifically disliked:

Interior quality

Door handle placement (“looks like toy car handles” according to him )

Overall premium feel

Rear seat comfort when 3 people sit

Road presence

He disliked it so much that during showroom visit he didn’t even speak properly to the salesperson

He generally prefers Hyundai-type cars — premium interiors, luxury feel for passengers, feature-loaded cabins etc. He likes cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Sonet etc.

Our budget is around 20L.

Now personally, I am okay with buying the Duster because I understand why enthusiasts love it. Even I appreciate the engine, ruggedness, reliability-type image and practical aspects.

But honestly:

I also feel the interiors don’t look like a 20L car

That thick black panel/armrest area near rear windows looks a bit odd to me

I took a test drive as co-passenger and didn’t feel the “OMG suspension” hype people talk about

At the same time, I also don’t want my husband to compromise on the kind of car he genuinely enjoys.

However I am not knowligible in this field and have nothing much to compare against, so I would take a back seat here.

So I wanted unbiased opinions from people here:

Should we still go ahead with Duster if driver involvement and engine matter more?

Are we overthinking interiors/road presence?

What other cars should we consider in this segment and budget where:

husband gets a solid driver-focused car

family also feels premium/comfortable

Cars we already have opinions on:

Kia Seltos — didn’t like new design, looks too aggressive/monster-like

Hyundai Creta — family likes it, but city image feels very “gundo wali car” now

Skoda Kushaq — liked it, but worried about maintenance

Would genuinely appreciate thoughts from people who have driven these cars long term, especially family + enthusiast balance.

Everything seems to be moving so fast that when you focus deeply on one thing, you end up falling behind on others.

While I was focusing on learning how to build models, the company moved much further ahead in context management—there’s now an entire project around it, with people continuously adding new commands, workflows, skills, and more. I realise I don’t yet have a good grasp of how all of this works, and I’d really like to learn.

Could anyone suggest good resources to get started?

P.S. I learn best through video tutorials rather than books or official documentation, so video recommendations would be especially helpful. That said, I’m open to anything useful.
