[TOMT] Michael Jackson video where his outfit briefly catches fire
EDIT: Gonna add this on top for more visibility: This is NOT about the Pepsi commercial incident!
My mother used to record and collect alot of michael jackson footage from TV. I vividly remember one of the videos being from a performance where he was on some thing that lifts him up (may be the kind of platform/basket thing he sometimes used for earth song) and there was some pyro effects coming from below.
His lower pants catch on fire and they quickly lower the thing down, then 1-2 staff members rush on the stage with a fire extinguisher while jackson just keeps performing.
I also remember my mother telling me that he got some mild burns from it but kept performing.
I should also mention that this was michael jackson from where he already had white skin and the recording was off german TV and it was very likely from the 90s.
I tried to find this multiple times but I always only find an incident from where his hair catched fire during the filming of a commercial. There was also another performance where he stood on some bridge that could be lifted up on the stage and it loosened and crashed down. He also injured himself during it and kept performing through it but there was no fire involved whatsoever.
I was also thinking maybe I misremember something from my childhood and combined the two incidents, but the thing is that until looking that up I had no idea he ever got burned in that commercial and my mother also had no footage of that. There is also all those details like I can see the framing of the scene and the staff extinguishing it on the stage all in my head which would be odd if I had never seen him on fire or just heard about the pepsi incident and then completely forgot about it.
And before anyone suggesting asking my mother: I don't have contact with her anymore since 20+ years bc of some abuse so that's not an option.
Does anyone remember or recognize the incident or footage?
