Spurs/Houston Swap - If the Spurs lose to NYK and Fox shoots 36% FG and 22% 3PT again. Does a Jabari Smith Jr for Fox swap make sense.

I know his vet presences has been great and definitely won them games again OKC, but it's also very awkward between him Castle and Harper.

The salaries would be tough and would need a 3rd team to facilitate it. But Houston needs a point guard and if they keep Durant their timeline is tomorrow.

I have a late night idea for a competitive Marathon scene.

TLDR; As the end of each season wraps up the start of the competitive season begins. 1 month before wipe we start the Marathon: Competitive Majors. The top 25% of Ranked players are invited to compete in a 4 week tournament. Each week remaining teams will play 12 total games (3 games per map). By the last week of the season we are watching the 6 best teams from that season compete for the seasonal Marathon: Competitive Majors.

Overview:

During the last month of the season, the highest ranked players are asked if they want to participate in a 4 week tournament to win the Marathon: Competitive Majors.

Weeks 3 & 4 are live streamed by Marathon Official with a cast of commentators covering the most exciting moments of each match as they happen.

Week 1: Play Ins (top 25% of ranked players)

Week 2: Quarter Finals (top 300 scores from week 1)

Week 3: Semi Finals (top 36 scores from week 2)

Week 4: Finals (top 6 scores from week 3)

Week 5: Season Wipe

Competitive Mode rules:

Competitive Mode follows similar rules to ranked everyone has a holo tag and the team with the most cumulative value exfiled over a certain threshold wins. This is cumulative over all 3 games per round.

Changes to how the games play out:

PvE value is increased Wardens, Rockteers, Compiler etc. Now also guarantee holo tag drops (varying amounts depending on difficulty of PvE event).

Cyro vaults do not require keys.

When there is only 1 remaining team on the map all holo tag worthy PvE events stop and can no longer be accomplished.

This is to incentivize teams to make the choice between PvE or PvP. Making louder maps with more interesting choices.

Spawn near a warden? Maybe you kill the warden grab the tag and get out for a low scoring but safe game.

Make it to Round 4? Maybe speed run the compiler and forget about everyone else.

Or Arachne is in your blood and you try to wipe the lobby before anyone can even do a PvE event.

You have 3 games per round so you can mix these strategies as well.

Format for each week:

12 games a week, 3 games per map. The loser of each round doesn't move on.

Round 1: Dire Marsh. This is the most open PvP map. This round acts almost as a qualifier for the rest of the week. 6 teams.

Round 2: Perimeter. This acts as a second stage slightly rattier map encouraging slower more tense gameplay. 5 teams.

Round 3: Outpost. Chaos before the storm. 4 teams.

Round 4: Cyro. A race to beat the map or each other. 3 teams.

Marathon can do live stream coverage similar to ALGS or FNCS, as well as encourage players to stream their tournament games.

This game is begging for an open-to-pro scene.

Would you be interested in this? Would you try to compete for it? Save up your best loot for it? Would you watch it?

People who don't want to sell young talent, what does the future look like to you?

Bam is 28, Herro is 26, Jaime is 25, Ware is talented but his court awareness is abysmal, Kas & Pelle are nice but not going to take anyone to the promise land.

We have two options sell Bam or build for his timeline. He's proven he can be the 2nd best player on a championship team. Tyler is finally redundant with Norm, why would we sit on that.

Bams not young anymore it's either him or the young guys, can't have it both anymore.

Marathons marketing language needs to change. Stop calling it an extraction shooter.

Okay ya it's an extraction shooter still. But they're not going to get sales on that. It's not a 40 minute milsim put your hand through your PC when you die and manage your inventory through a 2nd monitor excel sheet. Yet they speak like that is their market.

The loop is completely misunderstood to the general pop.

Every match is basically a condensed high-stakes BR, with extraction exits instead of forced endings, where YOU choose the emotional stakes before queueing (love the ranked system so much wish it was a constant on every map). And the winner gets to do high loot raid like elements it's so dynamic and cool fuck.

It creates an emotional depth that after tasting makes it impossible to go back to your run of the mill BR. They're so painfully flat now in comparison.

This game should be dominating the competitive movement shooter market. It's actually so sad how bad the marketing is outside of the gorgeous cinematics.

I will always bet on this game's future because the product is so good but Bungie needs to communicate what it actually is so much better or it will die.
