Conflict with mom about location

I am located in Southern California. My fiancé and I were thinking of Pioneertown.. keep in mind we are trying to keep it as casual as possible, as we have a small budget.

I floated the idea to my mom and she was appalled 😭 I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I liked the idea of western/cowboy wedding. But my parents live in Korea, they are very Korean, so I understand that it's weird to her. She also does not like the wedding dress silhouette I was thinking, she thinks it's too casual 🫠

It's making me sad. She already doesn't like my fiancé and his family (this is another issue). So I'm seeking advice on what to do. If you had a wedding venue that your parents didn't want, how did it turn out? I know the American mindset is that your wedding is your day so you should do what you want, but for me, it's my day but I want to value guest/family experience too. So if you have Asian parents, please also comment if Pioneertown is a bad idea.

Melasma/hyperpigmentation

LA hot girlies, what treatment are you doing for melasma and hyperpigmentation? I wear sunscreen regularly but LA sun + PCOS is not helping at all 🫠

Could you share what treatment you get, where you get them, and approx. cost?

Fencesitter: choosing the right partner

I'm curious to hear your thoughts about choosing the right partner depending on your decision to have child(ren).

I'm currently engaged, and fiancé and I have a dog together. We are like 95% child free, though sometimes we do discuss what-ifs. For me, he's a great partner to be child free with, but I would not have a child with this man. He doesn't seem like the person who will schedule his day around a child. For example, on work from home days, I always build in time to walk my dog. But for him, meetings usually come first and if they end up going out at like the hottest time of the day and have to cut the walk short, it is what it is. He loves the dog of course but most of the care falls on me. If I had a child I would want more involvement. But he's a great partner - polite, plans dates, make effort to be better after every mistakes, doesn't trigger my relationship anxieties, makes good money, physically attractive.

What about you? What is your partner like and would you be with someone else depending on your decision?

Edited to add: I have already talked about this with him, he knows this is how I feel. He agreed with my assessment that he does prioritize things differently.

Bias tape to remove wavy edge?

I've alwsys struggled with stretchy fabric not turning wavy, and I can't seem to figure it out. I am working on this fabric (unsure what because it's a thrift flip piece, but I think power mesh?) and the hem turned out once again wavy. I was wondering if putting a double sided bias tape would make it a bit flatter? Or any other suggestions on how to fix this?

How to get these off?

This isn't exactly sewing but it is garment fixing/upcycling related so I'm hoping someone can help!

I'm trying to remove these snap fasteners, specifically this end. I took off the other side with pliers no problem, but can't seem to get this side at all. Any advice?

Any way to modify this lighting fixture?

Purchased this light fixture from Etsy. Called an electrician and he said that the circuit is different from the US and cannot be installed.

I googled and it seems like they're just different colored wires, but works the same way?

I know nothing about light fixtures though so I thought I would ask this group.

If you need a more detailed photo, let me know.

Laser treatment recommendation

I will be going to Korea later this summer and I would like to take advantage of the cheaper skincare/laser treatments there. But I am so confused because there are so many different tyoes! Would love some suggestions!

Skintype: I used to be more mixed but I think I'm getting drier as I get older (I'm 31)

Skin condition/concern: I have a lot of acne scars, also some sun damage. I live in a place with lots of sun. I would say that I'm not getting a lot of new acne, just once in awhile, since I'm on spironolactone. I've always had very visible pores. I am definitely noticing smile lines more... I also have pretty deep neck wrinkles, I've had them since I was a teen. Another concern is how uneven my face is. You can see in the photo I am losing some cheek fat so I look like a skeleton. Where is my youth going 🥲

Money & downtime & pain tolerance: I'm willing to spend a decent amount, but obviously would prefer something that's more "worth it". I can deal with like 1 week ish downtime. I did PDRN treatment before and I thought that was reasonable. I really enjoyed how great my skin looked for the next couple months!

Curious to hear your suggestions! Thank you!
