golytely

I’ve been instructed to drink half of the bottle of golytely for constipation. I picked it up earlier. It tastes disgusting .Theres no flavor packet and instructions say not to add anything to it. I keep gagging and i’m so nauseous and i’ve taken like 4 oz. I’ve alr tried msg citrate miralax and dulcolax. I don’t want my dr thinking im being non compliant but the taste is genuinely so bad i dont know how i can finish this .

backed up after multiple laxatives

Hi all! I’m 20F with multiple GI problems going on. Lower tract wise I have IBS, SIBO, and a redundant colon (not necessarily a problem-just to note). I went to the GI Fri as my upper tract symptoms have been even worse. On Wednesday knowing i was backed up, i took a capful and a half of miralax to get things moving. The next day- nothing, so I decided to try a stimulant laxative and took a dulcolax. Still nothing. Thursday- took 4 capfuls of miralax… I had the smallest bm. It was like the size of a rabbit poop. Fri the GI wants me to do mag citrate and then start on miralax every day. I did half the bottle of Mag Friday night. I was told that this would for sure work.. Nothing. Took the other half of the bottle this morning (Sat) I had 2 small liquid-ish bowel movements. My stomach is still hard and bloated. My upper tract symptoms have gotten worse, and i’m in pain. I can’t talk to the dr until Monday unless it’s urgent enough to call the triage nurse or on call dr.. Everywhere i’ve looked says not to use anymore laxatives. I guess my next step would be a Fleet, but I was told not to use them as my pelvic floor problems are doing we and it can mess with that.

Growth tips

Hi all! I have 3B hair. I wear my hair straight about 90 percent of the time. I use OGX shampoo and conditioner and heat protectant, but I feel like my hair still isn’t growing quickly. It’s grown 3 inches from the root (I dyed a peekaboo on my hair in Nov), but i feel like the ends are hardly getting longer. I haven’t had a professional cut in years due to the last person chopping off way too much of my hair. The ends are so dry. I use K18 repair mask every once in awhile too. How do I promote growth while also using heat?

Feeding tube with no diagnoses?

Hi everyone. I’m 20 F. I hav been struggling with GI issues for awhile now, but they’re worse then ever. In 2025 of May, I weighted in at 197.6 pounds. I had been diagnosed with functional dyspepsia for awhile before this. I lost 8 pounds while eating how I usually did. I went to my GI and got tested for SIBO. I was positive and I still have it because mines currently treatment resistant. Now- Fast forward to February. My reflux is horrible. I was diagnosed with GERD and LPR. I had scopes showing gastritis, and inflammatory lymphatic growths in my throat from LPR. I had a barium that was normal. My gastric emptying was normal as well as CT. However- I regurgitate everything. I have to burp after every sip of a liquid no matter what it is. I’m in pain after every single meal. I now weigh 171. I weighed 189 on June 3rd. I’ve been drinking nutritional drinks but still can’t keep my weight up. I’ve tried all PPIs and i’m in protonix rn which seems to help a little but not enough. I’m so lost. My GI appt is next week and i’m scared. My urinalysis i had done when i went to the ER for dehydration in June showed ketones in my urine and high specific gravity. They couldn’t admit me cause my labs were ok but told me losing more weight at this rate isn’t good, and that my GI will need to order nutritional labs, and possibly admit me depending on how they come back and my weight. Will I need a feeding tube? Im worried they may brush me off cause my BMI is 26. Has anyone gone through losing weight quickly? Did you eventually end up needing a tube?

Do I push for testing?

Hello everyone. I’m 20F. I’ve been suffering with LPR and GERD for a few years now, but in the last few months it’s gotten worse. In 2024 I had a completely normal upper scope. I tried Pepcid, Prevacid and tums. Nothing worked so my (horrible) GI diagnosed me with functional dyspepsia. Anyway, flash forward a year later. I go to a new GI. I had a SIBO test come back positive. I also had Endoscopy and Colonoscopy. My scopes were ordered after my symptoms had been really bad for about a month or so. The upper scope showed “minimal chronic inflammation” in my stomach and “pseudo polyps” in my throat. I had been taking omeprazole before this which also didn’t help. I went to ENT who confirmed they were inflamed lymphatic growths in my pharyngeal area due to LPR. I’ve also had a barium come back showing no GERD. The ENT started me on protonix which helps maybe a good 15%. I regurgitate food, I have to burp after every single sip of water, my voice is always going in and out. Should I push for reflux testing? Maybe esophageal manometry and PH monitoring?

can’t eat!

Hello. I haven’t been able to eat all day due to intense pain and nausea. This has started to become a frequent thing for me. If I get labs drawn on monday and can’t eat until then- only water. (the only liquid I can tolerate rn). Would my labs be concerning if they were otherwise normal last week when I had them drawn? Lipase, CBC, CMP, Magnesium. Lipase was low but it always is for me. Would my labs already be off by Monday? I’m such a worrier but I know I need to get them drawn.

no food 5 days-lab work

Hello. I’m gonna start off with saying I don’t have ANA, but I do have ARFID. However, I feel this question may be better suited to this SUB. ER??

Hello all. I’m 20F. I have Gastritis diagnosed by EGD. I also have Functional Dyspepsia, IBS, SIBO, Dysphagia, and inflammatory polyps in pharynx due to acid. For the past week and a half I have been struggling. Everything I put in my stomach hurts. Like eating anything puts me around a 7-8 for pain. My dysphagia has been bad and i swear everything gets stuck. I’m regurgitating water food and stomach acid. My nausea is terrible. I’m on rate control meds for my POTS, and my resting her is anywhere from 100-130. I messaged my dr and she told me I needed to take pepcid which i’ve tried before and it does absolutely nothing. Omeprazole didn’t even work. I’m so weak and dizzy. I’ve drank maybe 8oz of water since Saturday. My dad keeps telling me i need to “Just eat” or “Take salt tabs”. He doesn’t understand that i’m literally in pain from just drinking water. My stomach has been cramping like crazy. The nausea makes it almost impossible to eat. I’ve lost ~ 14 pounds in a week and a half. I haven’t eaten a full meal since probably last Wednesday? I don’t want to be dramatic and go to the ER but i’m not sure what to do? ( and yes I know i’m of age to take myself to the er, but i still live with my parents and value their opinions)

Admitted? GI symptoms

Hi all. I have been miserable. I have lost 9 pounds in a week. I can hardly eat or swallow. I have dysphagia, GERD, LPR, SIBO, Functional dyspepsia, Chronic gastritis, IBS. I have been eating probably \~ 200- 600 calories every day and it has been so hard to even maintain that. The abdominal pain is terrible. I’ve also had diarrhea. I also have POTS and my symptoms are terrible. I can barely make it to the bathroom without fainting. I’ve been regurgitating my food. Every time I drink it immediately is regurgitated or i throw up in my mouth. It’s not safe for me to continue like this. I have lost 5% of my body weight in a week. Would they admit me to the hospital for this? It’s not like I want to be admitted, but I do feel as though fluids may help. Idk. I’m scared to go because I don’t want to be admitted, and I don’t want them to think I have ARFID.

Messaged GI but haven’t heard back.
