Any felons w/ Bachelor’s degrees ever able to transcend above hourly kitchen workers post-release?

Have a 4th degree agg assault conviction from 2012(end of punishment), a Bachelor’s degree, every ServSafe certificate necessary, and 10 years of progressive experience in kitchens, and I can’t get a management job in this town, but can’t move. I’m certified to administer and proctor the FPM test to certify my own boss but can’t pass a background check to be a sous chef or exec chef ever again.

I did get one exec chef job during COVID, because they, presumably, suspended background checks, at a multi-national arena. But the sheer amount of exploitation and work became too much to justify for the 16 hour days I was putting in on half the salary a typical EC would get; and every hour above 40 was diluting my actual per hour payment to be around 10 bucks an hour average. Regret it now, because everyone is background checking all the way back to 18th birthday, 26 years ago.

Hacked, they changed my phone number, recovery only sends the code to THEM. Anyone escape this?

Account got taken over. First thing the hacker did was swap the phone number on the account to one that isn't mine.

Now the "Choose a way to recover" screen only offers to text a code to the hacker's number (ends in **45). There is no option for my real number or email because they replaced all of it. So every recovery code goes straight to them. I can't reset the password. They bypassed my actual Authy 2fa, which was supposed to stop this very thing from happening.

What I've already hit a wall on:

  • The recovery flow does sometimes show a "video selfie" verification option, but on my phone it loads a blank white screen and never opens the camera.
  • I have Meta Verified, but the "get support" / chat page just throws "This page isn't available right now," on the app, on desktop Chrome incognito, everywhere. Found out the chat is mobile-app only, but the app page still errors.
  • Reinstalled the app twice, cleared everything, same result.

Questions for anyone who got their account back from this exact situation:

  1. Did the video selfie ever work for you, and what device/browser finally loaded it?
  2. Did Meta Verified chat actually do anything, or is it a dead end?
  3. Did BBB or FTC complaints lead to a real recovery, or just noise?
  4. Any path that worked when the recovery contact was changed to the attacker's number?

Not looking for "use a third party recovery service" replies. Just trying to find people who beat this specific wall. Thanks.

Kohberger DNA Debunked: New Revelations About the Idaho Knife Sheath

I want to make sure people are seeing this interview with Turvey as well, which is, in my opinion, way more in-depth than the Custody Queens interview.

[WV] Is it retaliation? Conduct ambush immediately following a 4.8k wage audit closure.

Location: West Virginia. I work for a global food service corporation at a university. I recently filed a formal internal audit for 4,830.00 in back pay due to misclassification. I have 10.5 years of experience but am paid as a Cook 1. The audit recently closed.

Immediately after, the GM conducted an ambush meeting. He admitted my work is "amazing" but then attacked my character. He labeled my neurodivergent social traits (atypical eye contact) as "sketchy" and a "conduct issue." He also labeled me a "security risk" for using Meta smart glasses for production timers and QC photos, which I use because phones and Apple Watches are banned.

I also have evidence of the Catering Director manually editing time logs to clock out staff for 30 minute lunches they never took. Questions:

1.	Does a "conduct" ambush immediately following a wage audit closure qualify as retaliation or a hostile work environment?
2.	How do I protect my 87 hours of earned vacation accrual from being sabotaged before my July exit?
3.	Is reporting the time shaving (FLSA violations) to the WV Division of Labor considered a protected activity?

GM admitted my work is "amazing" but is negging my character to keep me at a lower wage.

I have 10.5 years of experience and have run a university market solo for 14 months. After I filed a wage audit for nearly 5,000.00 in back pay, management called me into an 11th hour ambush meeting.

The GM told me my work is "amazing." Then he told me I "never follow anything through" and that my eye contact is "sketchy." He called me a "security risk" because I use Meta smart glasses to keep track of my timers and QC photos since we aren't allowed to have phones or watches.

They just posted an entry level baker job for 0 to 1 years of experience paying up to 18.00. I make 15.63. They are negging my character to justify keeping me at a lower wage while they expect me to train the new hire for that role. It feels like a calculated attempt to break my confidence so I do not pursue the wage gap or my 87 hours of vacation accrual.

My GM is using my neurodivergence to label me a "security risk" and suppress my wages.

I have been the technical lead for a university market storefront for 14 months. I have 10.5 years of experience and professional Proctor credentials. I run the unit solo and develop scratch recipes. Recently, management called an 11th hour ambush meeting right before a 3 month summer break.

The GM admitted my work has been "amazing." However, he then attacked my character. He labeled my atypical eye contact as "sketchy" and called me a "security risk" for using Meta smart glasses. The kitchen has a strict "no phones" and "no Apple Watches on the arm" policy. I use the glasses for multi-timers, reminders, and QC photos to manage my workflow.

This ambush happened right after a wage audit for 4,830.00 in back pay was closed. They also just posted an entry level job (0 to 1 years experience) that pays up to 18.00. I am capped at 15.63. They expect me to train the new hire for that role. I am exiting in July but need to secure 87 hours of vacation accrual. How do I protect myself from this kind of character assassination?

Boss called my atypical eye contact "sketchy" and my Meta glasses a "security risk."

I have worked in a high volume kitchen for 14 months. I have a BA degree and 10.5 years of experience. In a recent meeting, my GM admitted my work has been "amazing" for the past year and 2 months. Then he immediately attacked me for my neurodivergent traits.

He called my eye contact "sketchy" and told me I was a "security risk" for using Meta smart glasses. I use the glasses to manage my workflow (timers, reminders, and QC photos) because we are banned from using phones or Apple Watches on our arms. He is using my social cues and my coping mechanisms to label me as a "conduct issue" so they can justify not promoting me.

He also claimed I "never follow through" on things, ignoring my degree and a decade in the industry. They are now hiring a new baker with 0 years of experience for 18.00 an hour, which is more than I make at 15.63. They want me to train them.

Has anyone else had a boss praise your work as "amazing" while simultaneously calling you "sketchy" for your symptoms? I feel like they are trying to gaslight me into accepting a lower status so they can keep exploiting my technical skills.

Company wants me to train a new hire making $18/hr while I make $15.63 after a 10.5 year career.

I have been running a university market, within a food court, solo for the most part for 14 months. I have a BA and 10.5 years of experience. After I filed a wage audit within the company, that was escalated the the HR Business Partners, for nearly $5,000 in back pay, management called me into an 11th hour ambush meeting.

The GM told me my work is "amazing." Then he told me I "never follow anything through" and that my eye contact is "sketchy." He called me a "security risk" because I use smart glasses to keep track of my timers and QC photos since we aren't allowed to have phones or watches.

They just posted an entry level baker job for 0 to 1 years of experience paying up to $18.00. I am capped at $15.63. They expect me to train this new hire. They are negging my character to justify keeping me at a lower wage while they hire people with no credentials for more money.

I am quitting in July. I have 87 hours of vacation saved up. I am planning to file with the Department of Labor for time shaving I discovered (directors clocking people out for breaks they didn't take) and for the wage suppression.
