Trojan "Bearfoos.A!ml" detected when launching Otxo with Heroic (Through Playnite's plugin "Legendary")

https://imgur.com/a/NrpiBkM

I'm running Heroic 2.22.1, in Windows 10, and I launched Otxo, from the Epic Store (Actually launched it from Playnite, which launched Heroic, etc etc). After passing through a login page in my Browser, I got this alert.

Opening Heroic shows and empty game list and me not logged into any shop (I was logged in the Epic store, and maybe in Amazon), Playnite is telling me now that I don't have Legendary installed (!).

Does anyone knows what could be happening? I'm going to crosspost this to the playnite subreddit because I don't know if the issue is on Heroic or in Playnite's plugin (as both are failing me now).

Sandboxing applications on Android. Does Island/Shelter work?

(Let's see if I stop fucking up with the body of the message and automoderator stop thinking I'm trying to break a rule..)

Disclaimer: Yeah, I know that Android by itself is a nightmare and that the shit Google is going to pull next September is the worst, but I'm trying to go one step at a time and right now I'm looking for what I'm looking.

Hey all. I've been looking into ways to keep some of my Android apps to access stuff they don't need and really "kill them" when I'm not using them (so the data they send its minimized), and I found these two applications:

https://f-droid.org/packages/net.typeblog.shelter/

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.island

Both seem to use the same Android feature, and both seems to be the closest to what I'm looking for.

Have you used it? Does it work for my case? Something I should know that's relevant?

Thanks!

Suggestions for open source/privacy first smartwatch?

Ok, so I've been trying to get a bit more exercise in my life lately, and the pedometer I'm using on my smartphone doesn't really cut it anymore. I don't want to give (more of) my data to the big companies, so anything that allows me to sync either to an application in a desktop computer or to something in my phone (I'm using this pedometer, but I'm also open to suggestions as it sometimes fails) would be appreciated.

As you can imagine, my use case is health-related: Pedometer, heart rate monitor, sleep cycles and location in that order (being location a "nice to have" so I could somehow map my walks around the city). Being an actual clock is not as important, but I have no knowledge of how the wearables market work, to be honest and, on the other hand, maybe is fun to play a bit (as a developer) with a smartwatch.

So, is out there something that could work for me? Thanks!

Game freezes on ending cutscene

Needless to say, spoilers ahead.

Playing on PC (Tested on a Steamdeck and on my Windows Desktop), with all the DLC's and a few mods for quality of life fixes.

Anyway, I managed to open the portal, what.. happens happens there, and afterwards I'm back to the Talking Skull to use a handkerchief to see what happened. Screen fades to black, this appears, and nothing more happens:

https://imgur.com/a/lxL3PPV

For what I've seen in youtube and read around, the cutscene it's a flashback with the guy in black making a copy of you, sending it to the town (So I guess that's the protagonist of the sequel) and sending you to the graveyard as we saw in the start. I've seen there's no "aftergame", I got the achievement for opening the portal... so I guess it's not so important to fix this issue, but...has someone had the same issue?

Stuck in a mission of Hlaalu Business, looking for the "mouth of the river Odai"

For some reason the "crosspost" button does not work in my original thread, so apologies if this is not good etiquette.

So, I installed this Hlaalu House quests mod, and while I've been able to go through most of it with no issues, I'm in a mission where I need to "set up a smuggler."

I've gone through several steps, and now I've been given a Guar (Named Jollo), and I've arranged a meeting "At the mouth of the River Odai, in an ashy area just north of a bridge."

So, if my English does not betrays me, the "mouth of the river Odai" should be here. I've been waiting (With Jollo), but no one's coming. I've checked the whole river, and nothing new has spawned anywhere.

Does anyone know what can I do? Thanks!

EDIT: I've opened the .esp file in the editor, and I've seen they are supposed to spawn on the path that's just above the bridge (The one you would took from Zainspilu to the bridge), but no one's there. I've tried to wait a few days and also nothing.

EDIT2: I've done some more digging, and it seems I can go back to the quest given, do again the steps that led me to having to go to the meeting (get the skooma, talk with the smuggler and set up the meeting, talk again with the questgiver, but for some reason I can't get a second Jello). I'm really puzzled here, lol

What happened to the "senior" engineers? Are hiring frozen for people with more than 10 yoe?

13 yoe, mostly backend (Java), I'm in southern Europe, in case this is relevant.

I'm (allegedly) senior, and I've been hunting for a new position for a little whil now; I'm looking for a similar position (Working as contributor in a single team building shit), as I have zero interest in the possible "upwards" paths that I see (Lead Engineer, Team Leader, Staff Engineer, Architect).

The thing is that I've had an incredibly low "reply rate" on my applications. While I've been blaming the current market and my salary pretensions (I'm in a good position right now, and it looks like the vast majority of companies in my country are paying way less than what I earn), I've been slowly realizing that most positions I've seen are looking for people with not a lot of years of experience (from 2 to 6, maybe 7, I might have seen one asking for 8 years of experience, but never more than that).

I've been thinking that maybe companies don't want to hire in my zone seniors anymore because we are more expensive, but after a conversation yesterday in a different subreddit, I realized that most of those "3-6 yoe" positions are listed as "senior."

Which leads me to my question. Back in my day "senior" was 10 years of experience (maybe 7 or 8 if you were lucky), but nowadays it seems no one is looking for people with more experience than that. My own team (and well, the whole company) discredits that, as we are all seniors with several years of experience, and I myself entered as "almost senior" five years ago (8 yoe), but the searches on LinkedIn (With its many, many, many, caveats) are telling me I'm too old to be senior.

What is going on? Do companies not hire "seniors" (Whatever that means now) with more years of experience? It is just the market now? Is my "only way out" to pivot to a different (less technical, which would be a no for me) position?

[Spain] Is worth the revolut 3.51% TAE interest-bearing account

The other day, I saw that Revolut is having a that promotion on their interest-bearing account, up until 25.000€ and until October (After that it would go down to a 2.27% TAE).

I have a mortgage with an interest rate that is below the 2.5% and the interest-bearing account on Openbank is giving me a 1.50% (TIN, although I doubt there's difference with the TAE here, but that's why I'm asking here, lol). My emergency fund is less than 25k, my actual liquidity is slightly over that number, and I haven't started to "overpay" my mortgage, although its on my near future schedule, so the idea would be to pay early and quick the mortgage to reduce interest payment.

So, with this info, I have two questions:

  • Seems the smart move is to put the 25k in the Revolut account at least until October (more interest rate than my mortgage) and afterwards leave there the rainy fund day as it is giving me more interest rate than the Openbank one, right?

  • I haven't used Revolut, and I'm a bit wary of "only online banks", specially if they force you to use the mobile application. How does it work? Do they give you a physical debit card? Can I just use the webpage?

Thanks!

Going semi-blind to X-Com (2014), mods and suggestions?

Only played the original decades ago (I sucked, and it was too harsh for my young self) and the first two UFO games (Completed Aftermath, wasn't able to complete Aftershock because some early game decisions).

All I know/remember of this game is "90% chance of hit" means "notice that the 10% will roll 60% of the times" and that it was good enough to spawn a Sequel and a semi-sequel.

So, what else should I know about this before starting it? Any suggested mods to improve quality of life, graphics, fix stuff broken? (Not looking to get into the Long War).

Also, I got the game on GoG, and I was planning on playing on the Steamdeck (maybe cross-playing with my desktop PC) how does it work with pad?

Thanks!

Mapping Steamdeck controls to Dolphin?

So, I got the official flatpack for Dolphin on the Steam Deck, and I'm trying to play Super Mario Galaxy, but it seems that the emulator does not get the Steam Deck controllers neither in Desktop Mode nor in Gaming Mode (It does, though, detect the keyboard and mouse).

I've done some search, tried a few things, but most of the suggestions pass through using Emudeck, which I'm not using as most of my emulation needs are already satisfied through Retroarch.

FWIW, I did managed to get RPSC3 (which has a strikingly similar configuration menu) working, but even using the same options on Dolphin it has led me nowhere.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Where to go after being burnt by my current company and the industry?

13 years on this, 5 years in my current company, now full time remote and based in Europe; I'm one of these guys who got into this because videogames and ended up going to the boring side of the industry because I needed to pay bills. For better or worse, I found out that I like to build things by writing code. I've never had a real "plan" for my career more than "I like to make applications and have a stable positon" and, at least up until now, it has kind of worked out.

The thing is that, after burning out in my current company (A mix of work reasons and a lot of personal crap that has just started to really clear), I've realized that nor my team nor the company are good fits for me, and its probably time to move on.

Anyway, after all these years here, not only I feel completely rusty and out of touch with what companies are looking (languages, frameworks, etc, I've spent too few time actually building things and way too much time fighting against our infrastructure and in endless meetings), but I've also lost all interest in the industry: We use agile but, we use industry standards but, we have this great application (it's just another CRUD application done in Java 8), let's play poker to do estimations, don't get me started with SAFE. Everything is the same, everything sucks, and everyone pretends they are hot shit.

(As an aside, if you don't include at least one swear in your reply, I'll probably think you are an LLM)

I feel that any interview where they ask me "what do you think about this" will be answered with an assertive version of "I don't care, it's a tool, I don't get excited for using a specific screwdriver" and obviously that will be a red flag. In addition, it's been years since the last time I used an actual industry standard or common framework, or engaged in a meaningful technical discussion over one feature. I feel rusty and out of touch like Skinner, but also feel like I'm being extremely cynic about the current state of the industry.

So, I don't know how to frame this in my search. I'm in a better place now than a few weeks ago (mostly because I took a vacation, therapy is also helping), and while I figure out what's going to be my next move I'll try to improve at my current org (worst case scenario, I learn something), but I know I need to get back to the hiring cycle and I don't know how to pretend I care about something I don't give a fuck about or how to phrase that everything is boring nowadays but I need to do it for money in a way that could get me hired. Shit, I don't even know what would be a good position for me.

So any pointer would be greatly appreciated.

A few months ago I signed a mortgage; fixed interest rate, french amortization system. The interest rate is around 2.7% and we're talking that I will be more than retired (hopefully, lol) when I finish paying it.

The savings leftovers are in a savings account giving me very small interest rate (1.5%), and I'm trying to decide what to do with them. So far, my idea is:

  • Money for daily expenses, vices and whatnot. Just adding this to indicate that I have daily expenses, random purchases and things like vacations covered.

  • "Rainy day fund" of over 12 months of expenses. I have a nebulous idea of putting it all on a fixed rate deposit that gives 2% or so, maybe leave part of these months in my savings account.

  • The rest of the money. Which is not a lot, but enough to be relevant.

So, the question is: Does it makes sense to put that "rest of the money" into something that will give me less interest rate (Say, that fixed 2% deposit) than the interest rate I have my mortgage in? Logic tells me that if I were to find a deposit that gives me more than 2.7% I would be getting more from that money, but I don't know if the way mortgages work there's something else to keep in mind before deciding on an early amortization (provided there's no fees for it).

Also, I'm very conservative regarding risk in investments and I have nothing else going on regarding my finances (no other investments or leases or anything like that)
