Another 4th of July staple: Frogs (1972) with Sam Elliott and Ray Milland
The finest of 70s creature feature American (International Pictures) cheese, with a young Sam Elliott. You will understand why he grew the 'stache.
Just signed up for Found TV at last (free account)
What should I check out?
Already saw Human Hibachi, and was very amused to see someone I used to know from a Meetup as one of the actors. I might see the rest of the series.
This may be the nerdiest automation I've added (and that's saying something)
I have a pill I need to take before bed, and I always forget. So I asked Claude Cowork to create an automation. The alarm goes off on my iPhone at 8pm. I have a basic med logger in HA triggered by a Sonoff button.
If I haven't pressed the evening button by 8:10pm, the Apple TV pauses and the lights come up. Once I take it and press the button to log, the TV starts playing again. And I just tweaked it so it pauses 15 seconds before turning it back on, enough time for me to get back from the kitchen and sit back down. I kinda love it!
Just in time for July 3: Return of the Living Dead (1985)
It’s almost July 3, so see you at the barbecue! If the zombies from the cemetery next door don’t get in the way!
An utter classic, with a killer soundtrack too.
Happy birthday to actress/singer and Mercer County legend Jessica Hecht. Born in Princeton; best known for roles as Gretchen Schwartz on Breaking Bad, Susan Bunch on Friends, and Carol on The Boys; married to film/television director & fellow Princeton native Adam Bernstein
en.wikipedia.orgWhoa. My (self-chosen) goal weight seems incredibly low.
I’m 5’8” and have a fairly large frame. Back in the bad old days on Weight Watchers, I remember really liking how I looked and felt at 175. But that was more than 15 years ago now. I started weight loss shots in August 2024, and I was horrified to see I was 285, the highest I’d ever been. (No shade to anyone at that weight or higher; this was how I felt.)
I got to 199 before my insurance yoinked the shots away. But now I’ve got it again and I was 245 when I started on Zep at the beginning of May.
I’m a size 16 now, and I’ve been saying I want to be back in a size 12. I still had that 175 in mind, but I just realized that’s 60 pounds less than I am right now, and I just don’t know is that even a good idea?
I plan to talk about it with my PCP when I see her next week, but does anyone know is there a best “formula” for choosing a goal weight or anything like that? And please don’t give me BMI, thanks.
Will add some pics in comments so you can see what I mean. Thanks for listening!
Edit: Oh can’t see where to edit user flair here, but tomorrow is my 4th dose at 5mg.
Edit 2: Found it!
Update: Thanks to all who commented. I just checked my lean mass according to my Eufy smart scale, and right now I’m at 44.4% body fat. Getting down to 25-30% puts me right around 175-185 lbs, so maybe I’m in the right neighborhood after all.
Oh now they’re mad because we return too many clothes
I’ve been trying to buy all my clothes from ThredUp, especially the jeans I only wore for a couple months because I blew through the size already. But yes, I intended to ruin the online clothes shopping industry. So sorry! /s
Just chillin in the backyard
And waiting for a part for my lawnmower. I know, I know…
Suggestions for sensor to gauge how damp the grass is? (US)
I’m building out a dashboard to suggest good windows of time to mow my lawn. Claude Cowork is putting it together now, using local weather data pulled from NWS and Tomorrow.io. But a sensor in the actual grass that said how wet things were would be ideal. Anyone know of a good one?
