Memory issues?

I have been fully stable on great meds for almost 6 years, but my cognitive abilities, especially memory, did not recover fully after 2 HUGE, lengthy manic episodes followed by horrible depressions in the span of 3 years.

While I can support myself by writing things down for general needs, it is so bad in social contexts. I am perpetually embarrassed by not remembering neither faces or names. I am constantly introducing myself to people I have already met and I have no idea what's the name of someone I have casually known for years. If I meet someone right now, I will try to repeat their name in my head for a couple of minutes, then still forget it later on. If I meet more people at once, it's game over. I also find it difficult to remember what I've said to whom, which is extra annoying.

Finally, it can happen when I am trying to learn something as well. I love reading but sometimes I finish a book I have enjoyed and I have no idea what I read if you ask me a month later.

I wasn't like this. I did have a bit of an issue remembering what I didn't find interesting, but it was small things and easy to overcome. I finished university and advanced professional educations without any issue.

Now, I am so afraid that this will only get worse. I am merely 34 (with no dementia history in my family). How will my brain work at 60? Can I do anything to improve my memory? I am scared and sad. I am nothing without my cognition. I have so much left to learn and experience 😟

Can I make the game create more townies?

I don't like manually populating the entire town, I create a few families that I think would be an interesting addition and then I want my sims to meet and discover random new townies.

But I've been playing in Moonlight Falls for five generations now and my Sims know everybody/have hooked up everybody lol plus a lot of their extended family is around now, so it's kinda boring. I don't want to move them out to another town, I love it here and have a great legacy house.

I use all the essential NRAAS mods. Can I do something to have more random townies spawn?

We can no longer afford to prioritize consumption, entertainment and celebrity

I am not a doomsday-obsessed person. I don't enjoy basking in negativity and lamenting the impending implosion of the world for a hobby. I am not constantly pearl-clutching about climate change nor thinking that I shouldn't have kids because "the world is a shithole full of suffering".

But I also think and keep up with the socioeconomic, politic, technological and environmental dimensions of life, and the pragmatic side of wasting resources is starting to chip away at my hard-earned inner peace.

In ny country there is a saying "while the village burns, the grandmother combs her hair" for situations like this. Situations where the hallmarks and blessings of our current civilization are deteriorating at an insane pace and we are actively working against our own good. Unfortunately for us, our individual good has always been tied to the collective good.

Amids all that, without listing all of the problems of our reality, I can't believe the amount of effort, money and attention we pour into entertainment, luxuries (non-essentials), celebrities, clout, fashion, image, plastic gadgets and trinkets. We are truly combing our hair while the village burns.

I'll just rant about the latest thing that irked me. I just encountered a video about Law Roach, Zendaya's stylist, bragging about taking a private jet just to transport her dress for the latest movie premiere back and forth to some Parisian fashion shows that feature it. A piece of material warrants its own private jet ride because imagine the horror if she couldn't wear it. These people are so self-import and self-obsessed, they live in a bubble where what they do is the pinnacle of human society. It's just a drop in the bucket but I am using it as an example: can you imagine the resources spent every year on movie premieres that serve only as social events for the wealthy and as a competition for the most attention-grabbing publicity?

Someone who arranges colorful clothes on women's bodies for a living will enjoy the best of life and die clutching millions, idolized by the common folk for his magic touch, yet contributing nothing more than "slay, queen" PR moments. It's one thing to waste only their resources, but their resources are never only theirs - starting from this planet that we must share and ending with the exploitative nature of obscene wealth.

We, as a species, can't afford this anymore. We, as the common folk, can't afford this anymore. It seems like the machine keeps on churning, perpetually keeping us in a cycle of distract-consume-worship until the village finally burns to ashes. We feed it with our attention and money, gleefully giving then away in return for social media dopamine, merchandise, vapid movies, fandoms, endless gossip, must-have aesthetics, parasocial communities and everything that goes with all of that.

As natural as it may be, given the evolution of society, we have never spent this much time out in touch with our needs and how to meet them, instead pacifying ourselves with all kinds of artificial meaning.

I am not afraid for the planet. The planet will always be fine. It's egocentric af to worry about the planet. It doesn't need us to survive. Life will probably find a way. I am not even afraid for humanity - if we meet our end through our own effort, so be it. That's the path we chose and I'm grateful for my precious life.

Yet I have to say this somewhere: it makes me fucking sick. The waste of resources and the opportunity to be alive on a floating rock. The constant insults towards our intelligence. The way of life that we mindlessly uphold. It's like the worst chemical taste of the most sugary, cheap soda, stuck in my mouth.

Eat the rich, death to celebritydom and fuck entertainment.

Help, I am spiraling. Can anything be done about these bumps?

I was postponing a derm visit for a long time... and finally went. The dr coldly told me that these bumps are blemishes/moles (I am sorry, English is not my first language) and NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT THEM. That's just how my skin is & what my skin does, so I should get over it. Surgical removal? Noo, that's wrong and she won't let me. Skin care? Nothing will help. Any treatments? Waste of money. Oh, but she said I should invest in make up. 😶

Devastating. The first pair (pic 2) appeared maybe 10 years ago right next to my nose piercing, and then some more, and more, and now I also have a couple under my eyes. Most are skin-colored or darker. They never leave, and some days look just awful. Am I just going to be covered in bumps and should accept it?! I have decades more to live in this face! 😭

Context:

• Body-wise, I have had hidradentis suppurative since early adolescence. All my fucking life: pimples, acne, abcesses, cysts, 1 surgery, bumps, shame, FUCKING HELL CAN I AT LEAST HAVE MY FACE LEFT ALONE

• My facial skin is normal but with an oilier nose that has always produced excess sebum.

• I have been using spf daily, year-around for the last 4 years.

• When it comes to make up, I regularly use foundation and concealer, rarely anything more.

• I mostly use foam cleansers on my face or the La Roche Posay Effaclar cleanser.

• I don't use moisturizer daily, can't stand it for some reason. Any product I've tried, if I use it every day it feels heavy, oily, suffocating or triggers acne. So I just use a nightly niacinamide moisturizer when I feel actual need for it, about 2-3 times per week.

I am sorry for the emotional tone, I am crying my eyes out because I don't feel beautiful and comfortable in my skin, and I have a wedding to plan. Plus I am not good at make up and don't enjoy it. On top of it all I'm 34 and have to accept the settling of general skin changes.

Please share if you know:

What am I doing wrong?

Is my dermatologist right?

Is there anything I can do to eliminate the bumps and/or prevent new ones?

Thank you in advance 😟

How can I get rid of these bumps?

I saw a dermatologist last week, after months of years of trying to not think about this.

I have bumps like these forming on my nose and poradically on my upper cheeks for years. They form and never leave. I finally had enough and felt so ugly that I went to a doctor. All she said was that they are blemishes/moles (I am not from an English-speaking country) that my skin is prone to producing them and there's nothing I can do about it, and that surgical removal is a very bad idea.

I have been crying ever since. Can someone please give me some more elaborate advice? Perhaps there's something I can do to at least lessen their appearance?

Mug Romance

TL;DR: My relationship has been blessed by the Mug Gods!

A few days ago, my cat destroyed my favorite mug. I don't own an incredible amount of mugs but they are personal and silly and I get very attached to them - this one especially, since it's literally the first mug I've ever known (I was born '92, mug was made '96). It was at my parents house since forever, and regularly used. Besides its adorable, kitchy 90's nostalgic feel, it became a little symbol of the lazy domestic bliss I used to enjoy there. When I eventually moved to another city, it was the only mug I took with me even though I don't care about Easter in the slightest.

So I was upset and talking to my fiancé about it later that day, and he was like "Ah, the one with the flowers and stuff? Don't worry, I have the same one here. Do you want me to bring it over? 😶 You're telling me you've also had MY mug all these years that we've been together and never mentioned such cute info??

In the meanwhile, I was so disappointed and felt that it will never be the same if I fix it (some lost innocence theme, omg), so I should just practice letting go... and after he told me this, I sprung and ran outside to dive in the dumpster and retrieve it.

The reason why this is so interesting is that we live in the Balkans and we're from different cities. I researched and found out that it's an American company (J.I.I.) that mass-produced these mugs. It definitely didn't export to the freshly post-Yugoslavia & post-war markets over here, so this type of goods would most likely arrive through the US military presence, second-hand Western EU imports or diaspora visits.

I find it so cool that both sets of parents went somewhere in the 90s and saw this pastel porcelain thing and thought "We need this". Maybe there were more designs from this line and this was an Easter leftover.

So I am keeping both of them now, and I am fixing mine. I told my fiancé that we were meant to be because the mugs spoke 30 years ago! 😆

Hi community, I love my ring so much & needed somewhere to happy-vent! 🥹

My fiancé surprised me with this ring that he chose himself and he actually unwittingly chose my favorite gemstone, labradorite. He said he simply liked it because "it had this pretty blue" lol Well it shows some gold, lavender and turquoise too. He's a musician with a tight budget but still did such a good job. I am in awe of the stone and also love the silver setting which feels kind of folklore-inspired and perfectly unusual.

We've known each other for 20 years and have been together for 5, but he was also my first love when we met as teens. We shared a unique attachment that shaped me and I never forgot about him. It's surreal that we are engaged now!

Anyway, wishing everyone an amazing day 💙

Hi everyone,

With deep respect to your amazing craft, I am here to seek advice.

I recently got engaged and this is the ring my fiancé chose. I absolutely love it, it is one of my favorite gemstones and the whole design perfectly suits my personality. However, when you have two artists getting engaged, practicality is not a top priority for sure.

The thing is, I want to wear it everyday, forever haha. I always gravitate towards jewelry that I can put on and almost never take off, I just treat it as a part of me, and now I have that urge is doubled by the importance of this ring for me and the love and awe I feel when I wear it.

So I though I have to learn how to protect it and tried to read a bit about the hardness and longevity of labradorite and the safety of the cabochon shape and this setting, and now I want to cry.

The internet says it's kind of a "soft" and porous stone; chat gpt tells me I cannot ever scratch it, hit it, have it come in contact with detergents, grease, sand and pretty much everything other than water, that there are countless scenarios where I have to take it off, etc...

That basically I need to retrain myself into having the most delicate, intentional, controlled movements ever to keep this ring safe. And that EVEN THEN, it will never remain as it is now. Like it's guaranteed to degrade.

But I would really appreciate a real person explaining these things to me.

Are those things true?

Is there anything else I can do to keep it healthy and beautiful for longer? 😭

Thank you in advance 🙏🏻

So sorry for the weird lighting!

Chicken breast (I believe poached), caciocavallo cheese shavings, lettuce, arugula, one sliced cherry tomato, croutons, some kind of light white sauce and a drizzle of balsamic.

This is my favorite salad from a nearby restaurant and I get it often so it's about time to attach a caloric value to it 😅

Thank you in advance 😊
