Thinking of trying out bait island for the first time to fish. I'll be bussing/ walking there so any advice on lures or time of day would be greatly appreciated!

I am relatively new to the game. I have a town that seems to be running smoothly. I am starting spring year 3. I am struggling to upgrade my town to the next level. I do not have a rich farming area. My rich resources are berries and iron (I am exporting tools for $)

I also have fish as my secondary and I have mined out all the clay and stone in my region.

My question is: in order to upgrade my burgage plots to level 2 and up how do I get shoes? Or clothing? Or more food variety? Do I have to import all that? Or am I missing something?

Not looking for huge spoilers but about to start my first playthrough. Ive seen some clips and thought I should give it a go. Anything I may wanna know early on?
