Gap year advice.

Hi

In the last week or so I've come to the decision that I'm going to take a gap year after I finish Yr13.

I'm currently predicted 3 A's. I did good/average in my GCSES - so I'm not overly worried about those. I currently study History, English and Criminology.

I have absolutely no clue what I want to do with my life/career and I'm not sure what uni I'd go to/what I'd study. So there's no point hurriedly trying to go to Uni for next year - it'd be a waste.

I don't know how suddenly all of my peers have decided what they want to do with the rest of their lives??

I'm autistic and I struggle with my mental health. I genuinely don't know how I'll cope with uni so I really want to prepare myself as best I can.

I'm planning on spending the year getting my driver's license, working, (I already have a part time job) going to the gym (getting fitter), volunteering, work experience (hopefully in a career I'd like to do), going to therapy and overall just gaining confidence whilst deciding what I want to do next.

Does anyone have any tips for me or advice? Or can share their own experience.

I need to have a meeting with my head of year to explain what I want to do and see if they can offer any support/advice.

Thanks in advance everyone :)

Women's and Queer History

I'm an a-level student who is about to start their history coursework. I'm really interested in women's history and queer history, I've read a lot of books, listened to podcasts watched films, documentaries etc. Does anyone have any suggestions of historical periods to base my coursework around or certain groups of people to study?

I need to pose a question following an 100 year period, and then answer that through an essay with about 4/5 paragraphs on different factors/events.

I've looked into Women's sexuality in Ancient Rome, I found that very interesting and I enjoyed learning about that.

Edit: I am considering looking into laws in Ancient Rome and how they aimed to control the sexuality and social freedoms of Roman Women.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice.

Does anyone else see the resemblance?

No hate to either of them, I was just watching the celeb MasterChef and noticed the resemblance..

Who's more likely to wear this jacket?

Hi I'm a post hard-launch phannie. I was in a charity shop today and came across this leather jacket - I can imagine either of them wearing it tbh. But who would suit it better Dan or Phil?

My sister is obese and my mum is only enabling her.

As a family we are not healthy and the majority of my aunties and uncles etc are at least overweight.

I myself am slightly overweight, and am trying to instigate better habits for myself being mindful about portion control and going on walks for exercise. In the last couple of years I have probably lost about 20-30 pounds.

My mum has been overweight since she was a child and when my dad died she fell into even worse habits, and is now obese she barely gets any exercise, is always sitting down, does not care for herself physically or mentally appropriately. Also she has horrid portion control. She'll easily fill up a massive plate of food twice and if I even mention to her maybe she should be putting less on her plate she gets real mad and angry.

My young tween sister has not always been overweight. Up to the age of about 9-10 she was an average weight however since then she has been piling on weight ( she is now larger than me in size and I am 18 years old, I am able to fit into clothes that she is not)

I struggle myself with poor habits, most likely learnt from my mum and family, and I'm fearful for my sister that she is only going to get worse and put on more weight. I am mindful that she is young and with just simple portion control and a daily walk and more exercise I'm sure she would be able to get healthier. I also worry about her confidence and how she is treated by kids in school. She is already shy and anxious her being overweight will not help her.

However, my mum is a massive enabler and doesn't recognise the issue and will not do anything to change to be healthier for me, my sister even for herself.

I find it hard living in a household where the parent who is supposed to be making the decisions to care for us chooses to do the opposite. It saddens me to see her just get worse, knowing if I were the one who was caring for her I would instead be supporting her to become more healthy and just live life more freely and deeply.

Any advice or thoughts from people would be massively helpful?

Thank you

baby butch?

Hi everyone, I've had a rough summer. My girlfriend and I broke up (it was for the best and I broke up with her, but I still feel lonely and a bit lost without her, we were together for 2 years) and my dog died last month.

On the back of this I'm taking it as an opportunity to develop myself and my identity. I want to become more confident and comfortable within my sexuality, my style and how I look.

I also want to focus more on my physical health and show up for myself more that way.

Any wacky tips or suggestions or advice will all be welcomed. I appreciate anyone who shares their experience with growing into their butchness.

Rough Summer - trying to feel something.

Hi everyone, I've had a rough summer. My girlfriend and I broke up (it was for the best and I broke up with her, but I still feel lonely and a bit lost without her, we were together for 2 years) and my dog died last month. It's been a big change of routine for me.

I just want to feel something and better myself, does anyone have any wacky tips or suggestions? I'm up for anything really.

I'm also actively trying to better my physical health, because it's pretty poor and I don't really show up for myself.

New Pescetarian?

Hi guys! I'm considering becoming a pescetarian, but I still live at home (I'm a teenager) and whilst I do cook the majority of my meals, my mum cooks dinner some nights too. Any advice or tips would be appreciated, thank you :)
