Is there anywhere in the area where a dog could go for one-off herding lessons?

I know a Border Collie who doesn't really get the stimulation he needs, and thought it would be a fun idea to see if there was somewhere he could go to try what he was meant for as a way of blowing off some steam. Is there anything like this near Kingston?

Looking for student discounts/deals in Mississauga.

I am a college student, recently moved to the area and am wondering if anyone knows of places that offer student discounts? For example, some grocery stores will have select days of the week where students receive a discount, restaurants may have deals, etc..

If you know of anything, please let me know as I am trying to cut costs as much as possible!!

Outdoor flooring solutions?

I have been looking at the cheap, interlocking tiles (i.e. IKEA) to put outside my door to cover the concrete, but my landlord is worried about moisture getting trapped underneath and mould growth. He wants me to get something that can be easily removed when it rains to allow everything to dry. It would be pretty inconvenient to do this every time, and would also make it difficult to put anything on the tiles (for example, I have a small bistro table and chair that I was planning on putting out).

Any suggestions as to what I could do? Any other options out there that would be easier to remove that I am not thinking of? Anything that could be built? I am open to any and all suggestions.*

*Has to be cost-effective (meaning as low as you could possibly go). And I am not interested in just ignoring my landlord and doing what I want...we have a good relationship and I do not want to jeopardize it.

Tips for what I can do to help these plants thrive??

MONEY TREE

I have had this for a few years, first at my work, then moved to my apartment about 6 months ago. It had been doing well before the move; after the move it did okay for a little while, but then had a rough spell (this was in the dead of winter). I know these go dormant in the winter, but in previous winters never had parts actually falling off - after about two months post-move a large portion of the plant died and fell off.

It has bounced back a bit, but feels sort of touch-and-go now. Still getting new growth, but every now and then some of it dies (for example, the left-most arm in the first photo randomly died just a few days ago). Has been in the room that gets the most light in my apartment/south-facing.

+There is a third stalk(?), but it died before the plant came into my care, so it just sticks out the back. The thicker piece in the middle is just a stick I used to prop it since it was leaning forward quite a bit. Also, the braid has already been loosened/undone shortly after I got it.

ARECA PALM

This plant I have had for a couple of years, and haven't really had problems until now (with a couple of minor rough spells along the way). It has been doing just fine in my apartment, until about a month and a half ago when it started to look a little sad. Now, it is looking very sad.

Has been in the same spot since I moved, lower-light area but not dark by any means. I moved it to the south-facing room for a couple of weeks, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

NOTES:

  1. I am in a basement apartment - I know, not ideal for most plants. It does get decent light, but it is admittedly limited being a basement. Again, the best light is in one room, which is where I already have several other plants so not a ton of room for more.
  2. I have been caring for them and several other easy to care for houseplants for several years now, though I am not an expert by any means. Any general information you can provide on either of these plants would be helpful!
  3. I don't water if the soil is damp/wet, but generally speaking I water once a week (sometimes twice for the palm since it is a clay pot). The money tree I have been giving less water since it's last rough spell, which does seem to have helped a bit (basically a small amount once a week, but at least one time I went two weeks without watering it).

Good breakfast spots?

I've been asked to come up with a good breakfast spot...diner-style if possible. Ideally near the Lakeview area. Looking for what we all want - decent food that won't cost a fortune just for breakfast!

Edit to say: Thank you for the replies! We decided to try Maggie's Diner and it did not disappoint. Will be sure to remember the other suggestions, as well.

Work/volunteer opportunities with dogs?

I unexpectedly lost my dog recently and am reeaalllly missing something in my life. Any Humane Societies or places where I could go to volunteer (or even better, work) where I could be working with dogs? I am new to the area, so don't know what options there are.

Thoughts on dog walking services?

I love dogs and am considering offering dog walking services as a way to make some extra cash, and am curious what people's thoughts are on this.

Specifically in the Mississauga/GTA area - is this a service that is or would be in demand?

Any general tips or experiences with this, either as a dog walker or someone who has used dog walking services?

Anything I should take into consideration before proceeding?

I purchased an AGM M10 flip phone, but it was not compatible with the SpeakOut SIM card, despite it meeting the requirements listed on the website.

I'd rreeeaalllly like to avoid having to start over again, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a phone that they know is compatible with a SpeakOut SIM card? This way, I can return the M10 and use the SIM card that I have.

Looking for something affordable that is super basic for calls/texts/emergencies only (so has to be reliable).

I'm new to all of this, so any help/suggestions is appreciated! Maybe there is an alternative I do not know of?
