Home Handyman/Handywoman

I am looking for a reliable company, that doesn't overcharge, to do some small home updates/remodals in my home. Examples being, adding offset hinges to a pantry door, changing a tub spout/showerhead, clean/replace dryer exhaust tube, etc.

Please give me your recs of companies or people you trust in your home and trust with your home. :)

Romano

I finished my first ER watch a few months ago. And I have come to the realization I will NEVER get over his death.

I read that the writers felt his character "ran its course." WHAT?!
We knew nothing about him! And we saw so many soft moments with him (and honestly would love to list them all in another post, if someone hasn't already!)!
I thought, given the arm incident, that would have led to character development, reliance on others at the hospital, opening up and learning about his life. But no, he got the lamest death. And I will forever be upset!

Freelance CRs Taking Criminal Depos

I'm a scopist for a couple of freelance CRs, and we normally get our car accidents, corporate arbs, etc.

I was curious if freelance reporters are assigned to criminal case depos, or if those depos go to officials since it's a court matter?

Just thinking of possible ways to change up the same ol' depos we are doing weekly! Was just curious how criminal cases work. :)

Color Options Lacking

Is it just me or does Brooks need more color options? I struggle to find a pair I actually really want to spend money on. 😭
Finally settled on the Peach/Sand/Coconut Ghost Max 3s and still don't fully love them.
I love Brooks, but wish they had more colors!

Slavic/Baltic Foods

This is a reach, do we have any Slavic/Baltic foods in the area? If not, do you have any recommendations for said food in maybe Iowa City or around an hour out? If not there, I know where to go in Chicago. I'm just looking for things closer to the QC.
Do we really not have anywhere that sells perogis?

Appreciate any suggestions if you know of any! :)

Wet Bar Ideas without Running Water Hookup

This is probably a long shot, but thought this may be the best place to ask for ideas!

I am in the process of making a bar area in my basement, but don't want to get running water to rinse glasses/shakers (as of yet, maybe in the future). What are your solutions, if you have any?
I was thinking about maybe seeing if their are basins with nozzles that can attach to like Culligan water jug? and then maybe drains into another jug?? Something you could set behind the bar to prevent an eyesore?

Let me know! Thanks!

Best Beyond/Impossible Burger

I know this is a longshot here, but I'm not on Facebook to ask the food groups there. :)
Anyone have any recs for the best Beyond/Impossible Burgers in the QC? My go-to used to be FatSacks and I was really hoping they'd get a storefront one day but alas, no such luck. I did see they are starting to pop up at bars here and there more recently, but no veg burger option. Maybe one day they will have their own joint!

Until then, any recs for the best?

I'm not a big fan of the black bean, turkey, veggie patty burgers, BUT, if you have one that you think is just utterly phenomenal, I will try it! Maybe you can change my mind on them with a good rec! :D

Where to Find - Mixed Nuts Still in Shells, large bags for squirrels

I'm wanting to start turning my backyard in a small wildlife area and wanting to start investing in some foods and things.
Squirrels prefer nuts still in their shells (no peanuts!).
Any ideas where I can find large bags of them? I was thinking maybe home improvement stores may sell them? If you know of anywhere, let me know! :D

Thanks!

Chairs/Sitting without moving pad

Does anyone have a good idea or solution for a way to sit without moving the walking pad every time?

I wish more companies sold desk chairs with wide legs to fit over it (like flexispot but it seems to always be sold out and not compatible with every walking pad.)

Or it would be nice to have some contraption that I could put my chair on that has built in wheels and height adjusters to fit any walking pad?

What are your solutions to this?

Best Quality Audio Set Up! (CaseCAT)

What audio items do you suggest for crisp/clean audio for large depos/arbs?

My CR is wanting to upgrade and she tends to do a lot of in-person depos/arbs in large conference rooms with multiple speakers, one wit and anywhere from two to ten attys.

So what recorders, mixers, etc, do you love and recommend? We are on CaseCAT if that matters at all. 😄

VLC Speed Up/Down Increment Setting AND Any way to control VLC while in a different window??

https://preview.redd.it/sw4ulry0j62h1.png?width=584&format=png&auto=webp&s=ecb125995890d402940b42348abc7d460982b9c4

Two Questions:
Is there a way to change the increment settings in VLC to be less than 0.5x? I am hoping for 0.10x increments. (photo above of how I have my current player laid out for work purposes.)

My job is similar to transcription. Sometimes the audio is provided as an external file and not in my transcription software. Is there any way to set up VLC so I can pause/play it while I'm actively in a different window/software?

Thank you!! 😃

Walmart Honey Mustard Cups (Older Version)

This is probably a long shot, but growing up I loved the walmart Honey Mustard that came in a large white cup (not the short, clear cups now.) I'd guess this was around 2000-2005ish timeframe. And I don't think it was Ken's, it was sweeter, from what I remember?
Any ideas of the brand or a similar Honey Mustard dip?
I've tried so many and can't seem to find one that is the same, at this point I think I will never find it! haha
