He Traded Places With The Dead Woman
Having spent decades in the Bar/ Night Club business I’ve seen many crazy things, this is one of them. Much of this comes directly from the Bartender in question.
I worked at a large Country Western Bar, it was massive. On busier nights there might be as many as 10 - 11 Bartenders working.
One day shift some Detectives from an adjacent County came in asking questions about a Bartender. By their description it could only be one girl based on height, build and ethnicity.
They were investigating the death of a woman driver who was killed as a result of a Drunk driving incident. The male passenger was injured but alive.
According to the man, the couple had been served approximately 18 drinks EACH during the day shift paying cash for all of them. He described the Bartender. Detectives wanted to talk to her.
The Mgr. called her to come in to talk to the Detectives. Based on the man’s story she could be held liable for over serving the couple leading up to the woman’s death.
The Bartender was scared, she could be in real trouble. She was asked if she remembered the couple, she did not. Did she see an obviously impaired couple she did not. Bartender asked what time they were supposed to be there.
The Bartender was not even working during that timeframe, verified with time cards, schedule and Other Employees. There was no way she served them. He must have seen her working previously, she was very memorable.
The Detectives left. Bartender was later told that the Physical Evidence was inconsistent with the man’s story.
The truth was, the man was driving, his passenger died. He switched places putting her behind the wheel. Her seat belt bruise went from top right to bottom left . His bruise went from top left to bottom right. which means… she was in the passenger seat at the time of the accident .
I have never been in Law Enforcement, or had any Forensic training. But some big questions arise.
18 Drinks EACH??? They would be unconscious not driving.
Why didn’t they sort through the physical evidence before scaring the Hell out of that poor girl?
Where did they really get drunk? At home?
How was this not a huge news story?
The man admitted what he had done. No news story. Nothing in the newspaper .
No idea what happened to the guy.
