Dating and Visible Difference in Scotland (Scotland residents, 18+)

I’m researching whether there is genuine demand in Scotland for SkinDeep - a proposed dating and friendship app for adults with skin conditions or visible differences, as well as people genuinely interested in connection beyond appearances.

The anonymous survey is open to anyone aged 18 or over currently living in Scotland. You do not need to have a skin condition or visible difference to participate.

It takes approximately three minutes and does not collect your name, email address or full postcode.

The questions cover relationship status, location, experiences with mainstream dating apps and whether people would realistically use SkinDeep. Responses will help determine whether an initial Edinburgh and Lothians pilot would be viable.

Thank you to anyone who takes part.

Looking for a few Android testers for SkinDeep

SkinDeep is a dating app designed with people with visible differences in mind, but open to everyone looking for something genuine.

Google requires 12 testers to stay opted into the closed beta for 14 days before I can apply for a public release.

Happy to return the favour and test yours too if you need another Android tester!

If you’ve got an Android and fancy helping:

  1. Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/skindeep-android-testers
  2. Then use the Google Play beta link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skindeep.skindeep

Even just installing it, having a look around during the 14 days and sending me any feedback would be massively appreciated.

Thanks!

Need Android closed testers for SkinDeep, happy to test yours back!

I’m looking for Android testers for SkinDeep, a dating app I’ve built for people with visible differences.

I’m currently trying to complete Google Play’s closed testing requirement and need a few more Android testers.

Happy to test your app in return - just send me your Play testing link and I’ll opt in, install it and use it properly.

For SkinDeep, I’d just ask that you:

  • join the closed test with your Google account
  • install it through Google Play
  • open/use the app during the testing period
  • stay opted in for the full 14 days

If you’re interested, comment or DM me and we can swap links

Looking for honest feedback from people with eczema on a dating app I've built

TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/w9QWB6JC

Hi everyone,

My name's Sean and I'm from Edinburgh.

I've lived with psoriasis for years and there were times it really affected my confidence, especially when it came to dating.

Over the last year I've been building SkinDeep, a dating app ( i know, not another one) designed for people with visible differences and those open to dating them.

The idea isn't that eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, scars or any other visible difference becomes someone's identity. The goal is simply to create a space where those conversations don't have to feel awkward or hidden.

I've just opened the first iPhone beta through TestFlight and I'm looking for a small number of people willing to try it and give honest feedback.

I'm not selling anything and there are no subscriptions. If you think something doesn't work, tell me. If you think it's a terrible idea, tell me that too.

I'd genuinely value feedback from people in this community because you're exactly the sort of people I built it for.

Thanks for reading.

Building my first iOS app as a solo developer - would love some feedback

Hi everyone,
I’ve spent the last year building my first app, SkinDeep.
It’s a free dating app designed for people with visible differences (such as psoriasis, vitiligo, scars, burns, birthmarks, amputations, etc.) as well as people who are happy to date someone with a visible difference.

The goal wasn’t to reinvent dating apps, but to create a place where people don’t feel they have to hide part of themselves or worry about when to explain it.

The app uses Firebase for authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Functions and push notifications, and it’s built with Flutter.

I’m currently preparing for my first App Store release and learning the Apple ecosystem as I go.

I’d really appreciate feedback from other developers:

Does the concept make sense?
Is there anything you’d change before launch?
If you’ve launched an app on the App Store, what’s one thing you wish you’d known beforehand?
I’m not looking to sell anything—just hoping to learn from people who’ve been through the process.

Thanks

Would you use a dating app built for people with visible differences?

Looking for brutally honest feedback. What’s good, what’s bad, and what would stop you using this?

It’s called SkinDeep - a completely free dating app designed for people with visible differences (such as psoriasis, vitiligo, birthmarks, scars, burns, amputations and other conditions), as well as people who are happy to date someone with a visible difference.

The aim isn’t to separate people from mainstream dating. It’s to create a place where nobody feels they have to hide part of themselves or wonder when to bring it up.

UK iPhone Beta Testers Wanted for SkinDeep - a New Dating App for People with Visible Differences

Hi everyone,
I’m Sean, a council worker from Edinburgh, and over the past while I’ve been building an iPhone dating app called SkinDeep.

SkinDeep is designed for people with visible differences, and for people who are genuinely open to dating someone with one. The idea is to create a dating space where a visible difference doesn’t feel like something you have to hide, explain immediately, or worry will define your chances of meeting someone.

The app now has working profiles, discovery, likes, matches, private chat, photo sharing, notifications, blocking, reporting and other safety features. I’ve recently got the first iPhone version running through TestFlight and I’m looking for a small number of UK testers aged 18+.

You’ll need:
An iPhone running iOS 15 or newer.
A willingness to create a test profile and try the main features
To report any bugs, confusing screens or things that don’t feel right.

This is an early beta, so there may be rough edges. You’re not expected to share anything deeply personal, and you can clearly label your profile as a test account if you’re not genuinely looking to date.
The first external build is currently waiting for Apple’s beta approval. I’m collecting names now and will send TestFlight invitations once Apple approves it.

There’s no payment and nothing is being sold. I’m mainly looking for honest feedback from real people before taking it any further.

Please DM me rather than posting your email publicly if you’re interested. Let me know what iPhone you use and roughly where in the UK you’re based. Even a handful of testers would genuinely help.
