anyone like queer but weird books?

last book i read was moonflow about a lesbian cult that has orgies and drank their leaders psychedelic breast milk.

current book i’m reading is He’s the devil by Tobi Coventry.

i’m down for any recommendations or talks.

Can’t figure out soldering. Beginner

I’m having a real issue with soldering. It doesn’t seem to stick to the copper foil. i’m using flux. And when i do get some parts to stick, it’s just so ugly. i can’t get jt to go on smoothly. I’ve been watching so many tutorials but i can’t figure out what i’m doing wrong.

What gear/collars/harnesses do you use with your reactive dogs/pullers.

I need an alternative to a halti head collar for my lab. We’ve recently had a trip to the vets for a lump on his face, his head collar was rubbing and was making the lump very inflamed, the vets took a cell sample and i’m waiting to hear back but we need a break from the halti.

My issue is he’s a reactive dog and very strong. We are doing the dog training and he’s made a lot of progress. He doesn’t pull on the lead now unless he sees a trigger; dog, tractor, trailers, runners etc and unfortunately i live in a rural town so we see many of these every walk. When he sees a trigger, he will pull and jump and spin around in circles which is making the halti rub on his face. He’s incredibly strong and will pull me a few steps when i’m not using the halti and used a harness. i’m not sure if there’s a good alternative but i might as well ask and look around for something to make him more comfortable. I’ve also reached out to another dog trainer to see if she can make any more of a dent into his reactivity as we’ve hit a standstill with jt. but i need a different approach for walking gear in the meantime.

Edit. He knows how to back out of a normal collar

Working while on pip and uc with housing element.

derbyshire

I get enhanced pip and lcwra with my rent paid for me. i live in a housing association social housing.

if i tried to work two hours a day, how would this affect my benefits? i wanted to try selling some mosaic art and get a small business step up just bc i’m so mind numbingly bored at home but can’t work any part time jobs as they are usually too many hours for me. so i don’t have an estimate of how much i’d earn. but right now i’m really struggling with money and i’m not sure if it’s worth it if i’m loosing out on benefits or if i’d have to start paying my own rent.

In debt every month

I’m in derbyshire england. i get pip and lcwra. for the past few months i’ve constantly ended the month with minus 130£ in my bank and no money at all left. i’ve had to borrow money to cover the last week or two for groceries until i get paid. i’ve written down exactly what i’ve spent and what i spent money on so i could try to reduce the bills but apart from saving a few pennies here and there, there’s no major thing i can cut back on. i don’t know what i’m supposed to do. i’ve already got an advanced payment a few months ago anf hasn’t fully paid it off yet. i’m not sure what i can do or how to get out of this hole.

Being trans and on hrt is preventing me accessing unrelated healthcare.

I’m diagnosed with fibromyalgia and get a lot of joint and muscle pain as well as increasingly disabling fatigue. I’ve seen a GP three times now for this extreme fatigue specifically and mentioned in many times before but everytime, being on hrt is brought up. i understand hormones can play a role but my GP said she won’t look further into my issues until my hormonal blood test is seen by a specialists, and despite having hrt specialists in the GP surgery, i need a trans hrt specialist. All my hormone levels came back fine but my GP refuses to look further. I told her the waiting times for nhs gender clinic is about five years and she acknowledged that but basically shrugged. all she said was that she can refer me to a gender clinic.

what else can i do now. i tried asking on a medical sub but deleted after too many transphobic comments.

edit. i forgot to add i’ve been on hrt for three years but i’ve been experiencing these issues for years before. joint pain has been documented since i was 7. the fatigue has just gotten much worse over the last four months

born depressed

all the questions about depression are often ‘when did you start to loose interest in the things you loved’ ‘when did you stop being able to look towards the future’ etc

i’m autistic. i’ve always been depressed. it’s literally my baseline emotion. i think i’ll always be depressed, it’s just how my brain is wired. i’ve never cared about anything. i’ve never had any real interest in anything. i don’t know how to answer those questions.

What future?

genuinely what are we supposed to do when the world is going to shit, even the climate wants us dead. i have absolutely no one. no friends at all. i never have any money left, constantly in debt. anti depressants are barely working. i’m autistic and will always have depression. what am i supposed to do.

Depressed for life.

anyone else feel like they’ve genuinely been depressed since as long as they can remember. i don’t think i’ve ever been genuinely happy, happiness has only been a temporary emotion. i don’t know if it’s because i’m autistic but i don’t think my brain is capable of not being depressed. i’m on anti depressants but they only do so much. i’m very tired of hearing it’ll get better bc it won’t. this is it. this is my life.

23 and pretty sure i’m going to be on benefits and alone for life.

I’m autistic and can’t work. Trying to make it through school really messed me up, it almost killed me. I can’t handle any type of work/education commitment anymore.

I also have physical disabilities along with mental health issues that leaves me with absolutely no energy physically or emotionally for anything else. I feed my pets, i walk my dogs twice a day, i barely keep up on house chores and i have to take breaks between each task bc i’m exhausted mentally and physically. Occasionally every few days i’ll walk to the shop. that’s it. that’s my life every single day. I hate it, i have no friends at all, but i can’t change anything bc i’m just so tired and overwhelmed by the slightest thing. I have no purpose on life apart from taking care of my two cats and two dogs.

i don’t know what i’m supposed to do when i have no purpose. no point in anything. what am i supposed to do? there’s no employment thats only a hour or two a day, thats all i could handle

My cocker spaniel cross.

He’s a 3 month old cocker spaniel lurcher mix and i’m very interested to see what he’ll look like when older. My other dog is a pure labrador and there was no guessing game on what he’d look like as an adult but with this new puppy, i have no idea.

He also has huge feet, the same size as my 1yr6 month lab.

How to walk puppy with older dog

I’ve got a 3 month old cocker lurcher mix and a 1yr6 month Labrador . I have no idea how to walk them together. The puppy keeps trying to bite and jump on my lab while we are walking. I’m having to keep them on separate sides but there’s times when the puppy will bite my lab as soon as he can reach him. my lab doesnt correct him or even really respond to it.

Not sure if medication would help.

I have a 1yr5month old labrador who’s lead reactive to dogs he doesn’t know, and super over excited about everything. As soon as he realises i’m getting ready for a walk, he starts panting and jumping around. It’s like he’s reached his threshold for excitement before i’ve even gone outside. I’m not sure if there’s anxiety mixed in. I’ve tried trying to keep him calm before we leave but it doesn’t help much. For the whole walk, he’s alert to everything, always looking around for the next thing to react to eg dogs, runners, cyclist etcs.

I’ve tried two dog trainers and have made a bit of progress but not much. i feel like he’s not able to take any training in because he can’t concentrate when he’s always alert.

When i have guests round, he’s panting, jumping up at them, he struggles to keep calm. He’s recently started barking at some people when they visit. It feels like when he gets excited, it’s suddenly turned straight up to 200% excitement. One of the dog trainers i had said he’s a good dog, he just feels things a lot and i’m wondering if medication could help. I’m on anti depressants and its help me be able to handle my emotions but i don’t know if it works the same for dogs.

(I’m not currently looking for another dog trainers right now, we had a very bad experience with the last one which has made my dog real nervous of strangers especially in an enclosed space. I’ve been put off by the bad experience too).
We have a vets appointment next week for something else and i’ll probably ask about this anyways.

Stiff legs in a young lab

He’s 1year5month old lab. I’ve noticed him being stiff in his back legs for a few months but just put it down to long walks/stiff after resting/ pulled muscle. There’s a lot of low meter high walls around where a live and he likes to jump up, walk along the wall and then jump down. He’s been to the vets twice for limps in his front legs and assumed it was due to the jumping. They did quickly assess his back legs but they weren’t focused on them.

Now i keep noticing the stiffness and i’m concerned about it. He’s a very nervous dog when it comes to strangers in an enclosed space, last vet trip involved a lot of barking at the vet so i just want to see if this is an actual issue and i’m not making it up.

edit. i forgot to mention it’s only when he’s walking at that speed. running is fine. his usual fast walk/trot is fine too.

I’ve got a 9 week old puppy, he plays with my lab
but he’s very vocal, a lot of barking and growling. He also sometimes growls at my other dog when he gets too close to his food.

I’ve got a 8 week old pre vaccination puppy, a cocker spaniel lurcher cross. I recently when vets for him throwing up and being off food due to moving to another food too quickly (i knew it was a risk but he didn’t care about the food his breeder had him on). While i was there i mentioned he kept coughing after drinking water, they put it down to drinking too fast.

But he’s now coughing at random times of the day until to start gagging but not bringing up anything. It’s like he’s trying to clear his throat. I know about kennel cough but it doesn’t really sound like a honking cough as it’s often described and i can’t find any example of a puppy having it or what it sounds like for them. My other dog is fully vaccinated including kennel cough. After the last vets trip a few days ago, i don’t have the money to go again.
