Is searing pain, numbness, and a pinched nerve normal for a beginner while practicing?

Hey guys.

This might be a bit of a silly question. After my 15 minute practice session, I'm fully numb in my right arm and it feels like it's being branded by a hot iron at the same time. I went to the doctor and they said I also have a pinched nerve in my neck.

Is this normal fatigue for someone just starting out? People in the bass subs told me muscle fatigue is normal so I might be over thinking it. I do have a very aggressive attack (I'm a big Steve Harris fan), but I'm sure he's definitely been through similar haha. I think my technique needs a bit of work but overall I think I'm making good progress.

The hospital visit was probably overkill too. Thoughts?

Tommy The Cat is one of the only songs I know where literally no one plays it the same way

Obviously he does it live differently, but specifically talking about replicating the studio version. I think the beauty of this song is it sounds fantastic with the myriad of ways people play it lol.

The mix of muted and ringing notes in the main riff is extremely confusing while learning it by ear, combined with him sometimes being slightly out of tune with the fretless throughout the song. I've never seen two people play it the same, including mine when I learned it by ear.

Obviously there's the freedom of the solo part where you can do a shit ton of combinations and make it sound awesome, but playing it like Les does is like climbing a mountain.

I see people on the low E during the main riff either do a 3-5 hammer on, or a 0-3 hammer on. 0-3 sounded right to me. Even the double stop section is extremely hard to pick out combined with the muted notes

Reminds me of portrait of tracy in a way of how unique each cover is. It's awesome. This is my favorite song to play on Bass

Help Identifying What Gucci Watch This is?

I know absolutely nothing about watches and have never been on a subreddit with them, but I have had this one for a while and never bothered to do any research. I found watches of this exact shape (When looking up 126.4 on the back), but none with 20 diamonds total around the edges, plus the ones on the indices. I just wanted to see what it sold for

The set of numbers on the back are 12812433 - I assume this is the serial number but have no clue how to look it up. It's located in very small text size under "SWISS MADE" on the back. Can't find the actual exact watch online and the tag on the gucci app didn't work

I don't remember where I bought it from - its been a long time

How the fuck are you supposed to live life with bad memory?

25M

It feels impossible when I say to myself "What the fuck am I doing" at least 20 times a day.

Also can it get worse as you get older? I was (apparently) great at mental math back in the day, now I have to keep double checking if I'm doing basic addition. It's exhausting. An example is at work, I have to match the cash register's number with the cash drawer's number, then put the tray in and put the paper slip on the bottom of it.

I double check or even triple check and take my time on something so basic. I have to take a mental note if I put the slip under or I'll question if I did it over and over. If I DID mental note it, sometimes I'll still forget.

This is combined with my extreme lack of self confidence, and once I had to actually tell them to unlock it because I forgot if I did it. And of course I forgot to put the slip under

One example of many... ADHD isn't the only disorder I suffer with :/

I actually feel idiotic at every job and this causes me to be awful at them. Combined with terrible speaking/social skills so I'm a ticking time bomb every day

Are fresh brand new strings supposed to feel stiffer and harder to pluck?

Do strings need to be broken in to get back to the buttery feeling of the previous strings? Always wondered this and thought it was placebo at first.

But yeah, same gauge, they typically feel noticeably different, and (typically) the same brand. Never really looked into this, and yes I always stretch the strings during the setup

Wal bass pickups

I don't own a Wal bass, and I know their tone is insanely unique, but wow I haven't seen pickup electronics like this in my life (not my photo)

Can someone in layman's terms explain why they're so complex and what's going on here? I'm interested but I'm clueless looking at this.

Why do I randomly feel high as shit while sober sometimes

This happens fairly often for me and I feel like I can snap out of it on my own a little bit, but not entirely.

I was super anxious lying in bed tonight, then it just hit me. The reason I decided to make this post now is it felt like I was absolutely fried on weed - Probably the most I've felt it, although there were other times it was somewhat intense.

Typically it doesn't last that long, but I do feel it in bursts sometimes. Even if I'm not anxious sometimes it'll happen, and that usually starts when I'm staring into space.

It's not really affecting me negatively too much ( I think? Unless I'm unaware of downsides), but I do want some answers or stuff to think about.

I feel less fried now but I can still feel it

Anyone else? Is this bad?

How many frets do you prefer on your bass and why?

I've always been a 24 guy - I just like always having the option of 2 octaves even though (obviously) most of what I play will be on the lower end. But having the option of going up even higher for soloing and the luxury of being able to play more classical pieces/arrangements has me sold.

Also if you're a rare breed who is a 21 fret guy reading this we all want to hear it

Does using an external video camera through photo booth worsen the quality on the file?

Hello, noob question.

I record bass covers with a Sony ZV-E10 and was wondering if using an external camera would result in lesser video quality. If so, is there an alternative? Using an SD card is such a hassle in comparison so I'd love to be able to hit record with the mac - Wondering if there's a solid app for keeping extremely high quality recordings

How good was Zinni *individually* throughout his career

I know he gets memed to death but how was he as an individual player in your opinion (honestly)? Keep "but he only has 2 chips" out of the equation. Don't really see people talk about this with him

How important do you find stretching Before/Middle/After a practice session?

Do you guys stretch and do you see large benefits? Do you see it as a necessity? I do it a little bit but I don't think it's enough - I wonder if it's harder to stay relaxed if I don't stretch first

Am I the only one who actually enjoys watching C9....

I'm probably on a stranded island, and this sounds absolutely pathetic to say for a "serious" pro league, but them being close to winning a map is the most excitement I get during most of these online matches. C9 single handedly dismantled the major 1 winner's in-game teamwork simply by beating them. We need to see this again - I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if the Falcons will be chalked for the rest of the year after the map 1

If they win a series on LAN I'm buying out a liquor store
