I was just thinking about this the other day, and one of my favorite parts about the first movie was getting to see the artists behind the film upload little clips of scenes they had a part in, as in ACTUAL storyboards and concept art that was actually different from what was released. Like those MANY completely different storyboards of Peach and Mario riding in the same kart on Rainbow Road, or Mario and Luigi fighting over food in the beginning of the film, or that very brief snippet of a scene of how Bowser met Peach.
All we have so far for the Galaxy movie is a few backgrounds and some official redraws of certain scenes. Very GOOD backgrounds and official redraws, but not really the same lol. I hope that’ll change soon.
I’m asking because opinions fluctuate really hard depending on the post’s title/description, and despite the movie not really delving into this plot that hard, the discussion around it is interesting!
One small gripe I had (only in hindsight) is that Peach is seemingly the one who put Bowser up to rehab, but we only get to see them interact near the end of the film. And that is a shame to me, because Peach’s defensive reaction to Bowser on the bridge, and him twisting the rehab into her/the bros. trying to ruin him, surprised me considering she LIKED fighting him in the first movie. If she believed in the rehab on some small level despite everything Bowser did, that could’ve been interesting for the movie to explore in a small scene or two. The movie already did something cool just after that scene, too, showing Mario and Peach guilty for leaving Junior an orphan.
The BTS for the film shows that the film makers actually WANTED the movie and its characters to have depth, so I really like the few times the movie takes a second to breathe.

From left to right: short and stocky Peach (like Mario himself), Peach blowing a kiss (“Peaches” ref), Rebel Peach (inspired by a punk Peach artwork I saw a while back), another short Peach, Smoky Peach (an evil Peach variant I cooked up), and Elephant Peach! None of these were sketched beforehand, so anatomy and coloring were a bit of a struggle, as I’m sure is very visible lol. But practice makes perfect!
I think that would be funny, and give Junior more people to interact with besides his dad (and Kamek) in the films, buuuut I also just wanted an excuse to upload this clip. I always thought it was a super cute part of the Nintendo Online video

I remembered Bowser’s line about him and Peach “breaking up” in the first movie while I was doodling, and it gave me an idea lol
I didn’t think to snap a picture of the adult bird, but I did leave them some unsalted sunflowers seeds on my way back in the house as an apology for scaring them (or preventing them from getting a meal) lol. If I had to guess, the adult kind of looked like a mockingbird. But I’ve never seen one up close before. Was the bird protecting its baby by warning me, trying to get them to move/stay still, or was I unintentionally preventing the adult from having a fledgling as a snack?
I didn’t touch or interact with the fledgling besides taking a second to gush at the sight of it and take a picture, I should clarify. It was so cute!
I came up with all these anthro characters a while ago when I first made my LTD island because I thought it would be the most fun way to play with face paint, but now, months later… I decided to sketch them out! It’s amazing how seeing them interact in game gave me so many ideas for how to pose them. I originally made Kittina, for example, to be the kooky kitty outlier of my island, but she ended up being so amiable with everyone that I drew her being a content (but still bug-eyed) book lover lol. Desmond also was intended to be in a love triangle with some of my other miis, but he ended up liking grandmas and having a kid (Rayna) with Maplebutter 😭
So if you have any miis of your own you created, but never drawn outside the game before… this is your sign. DO IT! 😁

I was playing andrewsarchus last night, and I just have to say, playing an omnivore is so fun! It feels like I’m playing the unofficial third party in every situation. I can chill with herbis or carnis without any of them implicitly thinking I’m about to betray them. It’s also just really fun to play like the resident trash can and snack on people’s leftovers. Or bring them gifts because I know the food nodes for EVERYTHING in the area. Suzhousaurus is another one of my favorites for the same reason.
If I could have one wish for deinocheirus, besides being able to hold other players, it’s that it be given a fully omnivorous diet option! I’d love to just travel around eating whatever berries or fish I find without having to actively switch diets. This goes for pachy, too! I miss being able to eat whoever I defended myself against.
Anyone else prefer playing an omnivore when there’s the option?
This sub was really kind about my last set of sketches, which was really encouraging :) so I thought it would be fun to test myself and see what White Diamond would look like in my style. It needs work, but I do like the idea of making her face look more like a grandma. I was also trying to make her hair wispy, because I like the idea of her hair being like a solar flare.

I think I really cooked with my Pearl! …Except for the first sketch of her lol. (I stuffed it in at the end of the pictures)
I wanted to draw Rose’s shield in my sketch of her, but I couldn’t figure out how to include it without bumbling what was already there.
Garnet’s hair was so hard to texture! But somehow Amethyst’s was even harder. I’m not too sure if I’m pleased with the final result on her, buuut… that IS why all of these are just sketches, so there’s always room to improve!

Just trying to see if anyone else has dealt with this before, and what I can do about it.
I’ve contacted Mercari twice through support to get some understanding, since they’ve cancelled 4 of my 6 direct deposits, but their first email just claimed that my account information was wrong somehow, and in the second email, that: “Even though you haven’t changed your account info and past payouts worked, sometimes banks put holds on accounts or update their rules without notice. Double-checking your bank details on file can help, and it’s a good idea to call your bank to make sure they’re not blocking transfers from Mercari and that your account is set up to get deposits from us.”
For clarification, I’ve done 6 transfers with Instant Pay, and 6 with Direct Deposit. All 6 of the instant transfers went through, but only 2 of my direct transfers went through. I even did an instant transfer TODAY, and it went through perfectly. I sent my bank a message through support today, as well, but I thought it could be helpful to get the advice/insight of other sellers here while I’m waiting.
At this rate, I’m kind of worried Mercari may be preparing to close my account.
The switch from the tail slam being the heavy hitter to the swipe really hit me hard. When I first tried bars after the TLC, I was so ready to get back to it after it had been nerfed for a while, then I got melted by a sucho and its buddy because I thought I would be tail slamming all day again, just with a more powerful, longer AOE, and some kicking.
Even after learning that swipe is the heavy hitter, I still don’t feel like I get the new bars at all, and I’d really like some tips to help improve at it. Bars is so cool, but I must admit that I’m really going to miss its old playstyle, even if it’s been a while since its TLC has been out. I loved having to pace myself with the slam, keeping things at a distance from me while making sure to line them up properly so I could hit them at the right moment and not be wasting a hit due to the cooldown. It made me feel so cool, especially if I was fighting multiple apexes.
I know OBJECTIVELY that bars is stronger now, but I’m not getting in the groove of things, so again… any advice? 😭

That is to say that what we think is an original Illumination set of models for the gang actually turns out to be their rendition of what the next 3D Mario game’s models look like. Would you all be cool with that, or would you mourn the older models? Would you love the look for some of the characters, or would you hate it all the way?
I personally would love it for some, like Bowser!

Hi, I’m new to the sub! Hope this isn’t breaking any rules.
Someone made an offer for something I’m selling, but I was mulling it over since I received the offer yesterday and wasn’t sure about lowering my price down. I’m not sure if buyers get penalized or something for having an offer up for a while, but if they don’t, then how do you all think I should respond to this? I’m not sure if I want to sell to someone who seems impatient, but then again… they did make the offer yesterday night. Thoughts?
Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen many other villains with this kind of narrative that wasn’t just a “I need a wife. Any woman will do!” plotline, but it always felt more fun with Bowser. I like him and Mario wanting her equally, but in their own VERY different ways—like what Odyssey and its artbook suggested. It was hilarious to see them both cry together over not winning her over, and even funnier to see Mario patting Bowser on the back like he understood him completely.
Plus it’s just versatile no matter what narrative each piece of Mario media is going for. It can make him ambitious (Galaxy), it can make him funny/vulnerable (SMRPG, Paper Mario, M&L, the official shorts), it can make him crazy (movie), or it could somehow do it all (also the movie lol)
Anyone else feel similarly?
